Description
The goal of this ~800 mod set is to boost the chaos of the game. It's full of surprises, but not a kitchen sink collection. Lore friendly and immersive while avoiding redundancy, clutter, and silly. This is CI on steroids, with more content and no crashes.

This collection adds a mountain of new maps, parcels, factions, classes, weapons, ammo, armor, upgrades, missions, events, POIs, orders, bugfixes, plus quality of life mods. No LWOTC support - you want Mod Jam for that. All DLC are required, this is for WOTC not vanilla. This set plays smooth until 100+ enemies on a map or >90 soldiers in the Barracks.

On Legendary this collection is tough as nails, so don't go there unless you crave a challenge.

We'll begin with infinite starting items, faction heroes and SPARKs in the barracks after gatecrasher auto-completes, bigger booms and double the uses of some items and abilities. Toss in already-completed research, the GTS, and big POI buffs. That's enough for a fighting chance, since this set has almost every enemy mod ever made patched to spawn correctly, and it uses a single item build system.

Unique weapons drop from enemies, lockboxes, and POIs (now worth the scan time). WOTC weapons are buildable in the proving ground. Dozens of new rocket, ammo, and grenade options exist. There are six-ish tiers of weapons with laser and plasma variants at multiple tiers, coil and blue plasma and rare items at the top. There's more to the weapons than just damage, they last longer - a fair trade for building them individually. Underbarrel toys are included.

Soldiers get tanky with more shield, plating, items, and armor options, including more armor tiers with better tactical variety. Expect your soldier's gear to be unique, based on what you can afford to buy, steal, build, and scavenge rather than a linear progression. If you want all of your soldiers to be the same, this collection is not for you, it goes the other way.

There are a few body cosmetic packs (hair, faces, scars, tatoos, facepaint, colors, abs, palettes, patterns, poses, invis parts), the missing Hero helmets, and no voice packs (except Remove Rizzo). It's a clean minimalist base, add more of both to this set yourself with no worries. New classes include Scout, Field Support, Field Alchemist, Gunslinger, Dark Classes, and trainable Heroes. You should be able to add more standalone classes without issue - just not classes from overhauls like RPGO / Chimera / Amalgamation / LW2.

Avenger changes include new facilities. Avenger upgrades are available from POIs, Resistance Orders, and the Proving Ground. Rooms have 4-6 slots (watch those maintenance costs). The Black Market deals Supplies and Intel, at least until new Dark Events shut it down. Beware adding your own weapon / item / armor mods, they will break unless patched in with a PGO/CI bridge.

When you subscribe to all of this, you're going to find many missing dependencies covered by other newer or similar mods already in the list like True Primary Secondaries and Community Promotion Screen. It's safe to tell AML to ignore ALL of them, please do so before you add your own mods to the set.

You'll see five conflicts between Gotcha Again, DSL Redux, Squad Manager, Peek From Concealment, and Crouch Lower. There's one popup at start about Ethereal Restoration with HeroesFromAll. All of these are false positives, the mods work great together. Check the comments on the conflicting mods for more info.

There are REQUIRED tweaks for stability - do not skip them. There's a discussion below with the required changes and many more .ini files to save you time.

Best Practices when playing this collection:

Build from Engineering, Promote Rookies in the Armory
Never use a Fulton Harness on Mission Objectives
Keep melee counterattack capable units out of Lost melee
(or wait out the rare hangs, or disable the Lost Bladestorm mod)

The Alternative Mod Launcher (AML) is a hard requirement. Large mod packs without it do not work, period. Google it, follow the install directions. If you play on Linux, follow Xeloses' directions on XCOM2's protondb entry. When activating this or any large collection, do the cleanup shuffle to avoid mod witchcraft:

1. Delete all files in the game config folders. That's "\Documents\My Games\XCOM2\XComGame\*" on Windows or "~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/268500/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/my games/*" for Windows version on Linux (which is how I play).

2. Open AML, select and disable all the mods in the list. Launch this first time *without* any mods active. Set up game settings as you like, but DISABLE both Zip-mode and framerate smoothing (they can cause issues). Exit the game.

3. Open AML again, enable all the mods, launch and be patient. Click never bother me again on the HeroesFromAll warning, then click OK on the mod popups. Now the game data matches the current mods, no nasty leftovers, no mystery mod issues. Go into settings/mod settings, scroll through the mods, set them up as you like. Make sure to turn OFF 'Upgrade Icons Only For Primaries' under Squad Select so you can apply upgrades to armors and other weapons. Exit the game to lock in your changes.

That's it! Launch again and start a new campaign.

This cleanup shuffle is a pain, but less than having campaigns crashing from bad config data.

I tweak this set as I play, so it will update at times. Many mods that 'everyone uses' are left out because newer, simpler, better and more stable alternatives exist. I don't trust mods with no updates since 2019 as a general rule, so I vet old mods. That means this set is rock stable and functions well (check the discussion below for more details). So many collections out there have obvious game killers loaded I wonder how anyone ever finishes a campaign. That won't happen here, so have fun! ;)
