Knox's Proficiency Plugin: Skirmisher Sentinel

Description
Introducing the Skirmisher Sentinel, the third of 4 pseudo-hero units. This class is not meant to be a replacement to the Proficiency Skirmisher, but to be used along side the Proficiency Skirmisher. The Skirmisher Sentinel is intended to be a variant of the Skirmisher with only one (intentionally) existing in the entire campaign.

Unlike any defender, the Skirmisher Sentinel covers their allies in the field with their Cannon and Ripjack, using Suppressive Capabilities to hold the line and harass their enemies.

(As of 11/28/23, no longer requires Proficiency Skirmisher)

How to Acquire:
The Skirmisher Sentinel can only be brought into the field by using one of two current methods.
Note: These are ways to GUARANTEE that you get the class, if you're lucky, you can get it from promoting rookies.

Proficiency: Experimental Heatsink (Variant of Heatsink)
Rank 1:
  • Gain the ability to Gain Heat (8 Heat).
  • Lose 1 Heat when using Grapple Abilities.
  • Shooting your Cannon provides 1 Heat (2 with Reaction Fire) .
  • Ripjack Damage increases with Heat Stacks.
  • Gain +7.5% Crit Chance for your Ripjack per Heat Stack.
Rank 2:
  • Gain Justice - Pull an Enemy towards you.
  • Automatically Overwatch after firing your Primary Weapon with a Standard Shot.
Rank 3:
  • Gain Wrath - Pull yourself towards an Enemy.

Class Trees:
Battlelord - Perks that provide the Skirmisher Sentinel Suppression Abilities.
Warlord - Perks that grant the Skirmisher Sentinel Defensive Capabilities.
Champion - Perks that improve the Skirmisher Sentinel's Assault Capabilities.

Battlelord:
  • (Sq): Experimental Heatsink
  • (Cpl): Suppressing Fire
  • (Sgt): Danger Zone
  • (Lt): Pin 'em Down
  • (Cpt): No Man's Land
  • (Maj): Withering Barrage
  • (Col): Zero'ed In - (Requires Withering Barrage)

Warlord:
  • (Sq): Sustained Fire
  • (Cpl): Covering Fire
  • (Sgt): Emplaced
  • (Lt): Marauder
  • (Cpt): Retribution
  • (Maj): Stationary Threat
  • (Col): Locked Down - Activate to Hunker Down for 2 turns, reload your weapon, gain up to 6 Heat, but cannot move for 2 turns. Requires Cover to activate.

Champion:
  • (Sq): Vent Rounds - Fire a shot from your Cannon that does not use ammo, but instead costs 2 Heat.
  • (Cpl): Larger Magazine - Gain +2 Mag Size, but -1 Mobility.
  • (Sgt): Integrated Auto-Loader - Reload 1 round for 1 Heat, free action.
  • (Lt): Rubber Rounds - Fire a shot that Disorients the target, does not use ammo, costs 3 Heat.
  • (Cpt): Whiplash
  • (Maj): Hollow Point Rounds - Fire a shot that Bleeds the target for 3 damage per turn, but has -5 Armor Pierce, does not use ammo, costs 5 Heat.
  • (Col): Hidden Reserves

XCOM:
  • (Sq): Ripjack Strike
  • (Sq): Integrated Grapple
    Only one of the following abilities will appear at Colonel AWC.
  • (Col): Incendiary Rounds - Vent Rounds now sets the target on fire for 2 damage per turn.
  • (Col): Full Metal Jacket Rounds - Vent Rounds now Pierces 5 Armor and Ruptures for 1 damage.
  • (Col): Lightning Rounds - Vent Rounds now deals extra damage to Robotic enemies, stuns for 1 action, and strips Shields.
This class comes with 12 different AWC perks in the XCOM tree, improving how the Skirmisher Sentinel is played.

GTS Perks:
  • None - There is only meant to be one Skirmisher Sentinel

Compatibility:

Issues/Conflicts:
  • Marauder doesn't affect custom abilities.
  • When using "Locked Down" there is a chance you keep 1 mobility, only if you have Mobility bonuses (like Travel Light).
  • "Larger Magazine" shows up twice in Passives during Tacticals, this is because it's applying the Ammo Bonus and Mobility separately.

Credits:
  • Shiremct, MrCloista, and Dies Irae - I learned a lot by looking into the code they have made and learned how to make my own class because of it, they all make really cool Proficiency Classes.

  • Everyone's mods that mine requires - Literally couldn't exist without them, they are talented modders.

@KnoxA(H*10) I was playing for a long time, and I chose a rookie to Skirmisher Sentinel, so good for that.
Still, the mod that gives you an infiltration chain to get one of that class is so good, you should check it out.

@Nєx 一 红龙 I know this is a very, very late response, but I personally do not use Covert Infiltration as I am not a fan of some of its mechanics, so compatibility with Rescue Resistance Leader wont be made by me. If someone wanted to make compatibility for it with my mods, I would not be opposed.

@Risitas_Fanboi If this somehow applied, the only method I can think of to fix it is using shiremct's Additional Soldier Console Commands and using "RebuildSelectedSoldiersClass".

It should reset everything, making both the mag size and mobility penalty not apply, but you will have to re-purchase your abilities back (which shouldn't be a major issue, unless you have used XCOM AP to acquire any additional abilities).

When I last tested this ability, it worked fine, but I'll make sure to give it a quick look and see if there are also any other issues.

I chose the Larger Magazine perk on my Sentinel and for some reason she got it twice, now she has +2 mag size but -4 mobility. How do I fix it?

Can you make to get one into a Rescue Resistance Leader? also for u other 3 hero class?

After a brief look, none of the classes were designed to allow the user to change the amount able to be trained (which I thought I had done), but the system still should work.

Additionally, unlike the Commander, these classes cannot artificially have their max trainable count increased, I for some reason didn't implement that, so I'll add that to the planned update notes.

If you are having issues where the system doesn't work, let me know and I'll see what I can do to fix it as I currently haven't experienced this as an issue.

@TrooperCoon, each of the hero classes (including Commander) have a special way of forcing "NumInForcedDeck = 1" as the previous method that it used actually didn't work.

all 3 pseudo hero classes seem to have all their numinforceddeck and numindeck set to 0 making them unobtainable through gts

Thank you for the answers. Right now i'm fully understand why in the heatsink abilities there a text that said specific rank.
