Description
Improves Rocket Launcher Targeting in conjunction with recent changes done by the X2WotCCommunityHighlander (although it's not a requirement)

Basically, if you've used Spark Rocket Launchers ever or normal rocket launchers post highlander update, you've probably noticed that it feels...off to use them.

This is because the game's pretty restrictive on what counts as a blocking object, it's just that before the way normal rocket launcher targeting worked before, it bugged out when a unit was in cover and let you target anywhere because it was only checking the line of blocking between where the unit was and the tile they would step out from to fire. (Instead of the tile they were aiming at)

The highlander fixes that particular bug so the game properly checks blocking cover. Unfortunately the way vanilla rocket launcher targeting works, pretty much everything is blocking cover.

This mod retains the fix by the highlander for the broken rocket launcher targeting, but uses Iridar's rocket launcher targeting as a base to adjust the height the game uses to check rocket launcher targeting. This means that it should generally be much easier to use rocket launchers over objects, but it will still obey restrictions like there being a wall in your way.

TL;DR yes this should fix low cover blocking your shots on an enemy.

This mod works via OnPostTemplatesCreated, specifically targeting the vanilla and spark rocket launcher abilities, along with the rocket abilities from my Doom Slayer mod. There's an adjustable .ini array in the mod's XComGameData.ini file if you want to add other rocket launcher abilities that can benefit from this change.

@Sunbach
I don't think so, I think it would have been mentioned here or in the Highlander's Change Notes

does the latest highlander version include this fix? seem like it should and if it does then I can safely remove this mod

Hopefully I didn't miss anything, but here's the added config I could find for the LW gauntlet targeting abilities.

+RocketsToAlter=HeavyArmaments
+RocketsToAlter=LWRocketLauncher
+RocketsToAlter=LWBlasterLauncher
+RocketsToAlter=BunkerBuster
+RocketsToAlter=ConcussionRocket

Literally exactly what I was looking for! The janky rocket launcher was infuriating me to no end. Wish I could kiss you!

I'll be honest I haven't tried to alter Gauntlet Rocket targeting with this mod, but in case of the other stuff;

;added config for Bio Division 2.0, phase drones, bitterfrost
+RocketsToAlter=Ability_BioRocket
+RocketsToAlter=PsiDroneLauncher
+RocketsToAlter=MZCryoLauncher
+RocketsToAlter=SparkMZCryoLauncher

@Sevolund
So the rocket from the Gauntlet from the Combat Engineer Proficiency Class is its own thing and uses a different target method.
This mod by default only takes into account the Heavy Weapons rocket.
It does however have an expandable config that you can add 'other' rockets too, such as the mentioned Gauntlet Rocket, Bio Divisions Acid Rocket and Bitterfrost Protocol's Frost Rocket.

@mario taking a piss
I thought the same, but after disabling the mod, the preview of my rockets are still buggy.
I only checked with the gauntlet on a custom class tho', the combat engineer - I dont have the classical classes anymore.
Maybe you too ?

I dont know where the problem comes from and it drives me nuts.
