WotC: robojumper's Squad Select

My personal take on a Squad Select Screen! Completely built from the ground up!

The very basic idea is that all slots are arranged on some kind of ellipse and you can scroll (infinitely in either direction) when you have more than 6 soldiers to send.

  • User Interface for more than 6 soldiers. How many? There's no limit!
  • More intuitive with built-in overview!
  • More information: PCS', Health, Abilities (Shows You The Skills), Stats, Armor, Primaries, Secondaries, Pockets...
  • 100% controller compatible!
  • Configurable with Mod Config Menu, but also standalone!
  • Includes a squad size setting!

Not included:
  • A fix for spawn points when you use more than 9 soldiers. See recommended mods below.

Known Issues:
  • Armory Screens reachable from the Squad Select Screen have a Hotlink to Geoscape. DO NOT CLICK IT. IT CAN CAUSE THE GAME TO LOCK UP FROM AVENGER DEFENSE. This is something I can't easily fix.
    The same applies to a Training Center button. It is not supposed to appear.

How do I increase my Squad Size?

It has a built-in way of choosing the squad size, either via MCM or via the local config file.

If the built-in way of modifying squad size breaks with your setup, you can disable it in XComGame.ini

Recommended Mods:

  • How do I increase my Squad Size?
    • See above.
  • Why does this not include a Spawn Point fix?
    • I wanted to make it as compatible as possible. Since other mods are addressing this issue, I didn't add it.
  • I don't have MCM. How do I configure the mod?
    • Start the game once. It will create a file: "C:/Users/%USERNAME%/Documents/My Games/XCOM2 War of the Chosen/XComGame/Config/XComrobojumperSquadSelect_NullConfig.ini". There you can adjust the same values exposed to MCM.

  • Highbob for ShowMeTheSkills, ideas of which I borrowed.
  • LeaderEnemyBoss for ShowMeTheSkillsRevived, ideas of which I borrowed.
  • DerBK for ABA2, because the mod is balanced around 6-8 soldiers. Without it, this mod wouldn't exist!
  • xylthixlm for helping me with some math.
  • .vhs for upgrade icons and the thumbnail. It's great, don't you think?
  • xymanek/Astral Descend for providing me with more feature requests to implement. Also for poking me to do the update.
  • All other modders who had to hear my random ramblings about the mod and provided feedback.

Check out -bg- workshop. There's a mod there for configuring Avenger Defence.
As these two guys are great modders I have my fingers crossed that the mods don't conflict

Just a heads up, when you use this mod and get an Avenger Defense, you're still limited to 6 soldiers! :)

Hello Robo, this is an amazing mod and I love using it. I have a question. Have you thought about implementing a save squad feature? I always have multiple squads with soldiers "assigned" to them. I like to rotate through the squads to counter fatigue. However, I have to manually select them every time and this becomes time consuming and tedious.
Do you think you could add a feature that saves squads when you are selecting soldiers for a mission? The mod "Squad Notoriety" used to do this, but it has not been updated for WOTC, and it doesn't seem like the author is interested in doing so.

Yes, whatever it's set too is your starting squad size.

Thanks for the update. Great work robojumper - Will be diving in when I get the chance.

An aside. I couldn't figure out how to increase the squad size when using BlueRaja's More Squad Size Upgrades - WotC mod. Not a big deal as I was only experimenting, but I just wondered if this was a compatibility issue or me being thick by not understanding what I needed to do.

Nice, the sliding of Squad Select is easier and smooth.

And just a question: If someone were to start a new game, will it start a mission with that custom squad size?

I have updated the mod with a few new features to support an upcoming mod (not by me). Also included are a few code cleanups, especially regarding navigation code. I don't expect any problems to arise from this update, but please tell me if anything breaks.

I have this mod installed and it shows up in the mod config menu in game, but when I try to start a mission I am only allowed six soldiers, not the eight I have set it to, and none of the ui bits from this mod are appearing either. Are there some sort of compatibility issues with this mod that I'm not aware of?

Does this have any incompatabilities with primary secondaries?
