This is my personal mod list that I've been tweaking since 3.4 Cepheus was released. It's relatively large and content-packed, with several big mods like Gigastructural Engineering and Planetary Diversity. It's first and foremost a personal collection for me to share with my friends, but over time it's become a bit of a communal effort. I won't do any manual patching but I'm constantly tinkering with the load order and swapping mods in and out.

My mid-range computer only sees noticeable lag starting around the mid-2300s, usually, but I typically play on Small/Medium galaxies and with the Fewer Habitable Worlds mod at its lowest spawn rate, so your results may vary.

  • Habitable planets are rare, and, thanks to Planetary Diversity, habitable worlds that are good for your species are even more scarce. Guilli's mods make your initial interstellar forays plodding and uncertain.

  • As a result, you're forced to either go to early war against near-peer empires that you know little about to secure living space, or try to play tall with what little you have.

  • Government Variety Pack, More AI Personalities, and a few other civics and origins mods create a really diverse and expressive cast of randomly generated empires which are memorable and interesting to meet and interact with.

  • Empire Size has been adjusted to make controlling hundreds of systems with just one or two planets less appealing. So, unless a large empire also has many planets/habitats/etc. with which to put their outpost resources to use, penalties to technology and tradition costs may make them weak paper tigers.

  • As time goes on, Gigastructural Engineering will let you increasingly make up for the lack of habitable planets with megastructures that let you extract large amounts of resources from otherwise useless planets, as well as terraform even barren and cracked planets into colonizable worlds, letting you slowly breathe life into the galaxy.

  • By the end-game, you and at least one or two other empires should be progressing into Gigastructures' superweapons and Dawn of Ascension's dark matter techs, which, combined with the powerful and buffed crises added by various mods, creates a cataclysmic brawl that will destroy planets and kill trillions.

  • After the end-game crisis, you can either quit the game and enjoy your victory (or lick your wounds in defeat!), or set about rebuilding the leveled galaxy with your godlike capabilities.

I highly recommend you use Irony Mod Manager[bcssov.github.io] to organize your mods. Simply subscribe to all of these mods and then copy-paste the load order from here[pastebin.com] into Irony.

  • If you don't want to use StarNet or any of the cluttering shipsets, you can simply remove them without issue.
