This collection is my personal go-to for Project Zomboid on the LATEST UPDATE (41.78). The mods contained within were curated for high compatibility with minimal conflicts. This is very much Vanilla+, with plenty more cars, weapons and items to find without corrupting the setting. Spawns make sense and zombies are still a threat (fully customisable both via the regular zombie options as well as a new randomizer!).

⚙️ STEP BY STEP SETUP GUIDE ⚙️

➡️ Start by cleaning your game & unsubscribing from ALL mods, it is much easier to add mods to the collection than to just dump this collection on top of your existing setup.

➡️ Subscribe to all mods of this collection & let them download, check if Steam actually got them all by just scrolling through the list

➡️ Launch Project Zomboid, head to "Mods" in the main menu

➡️ First activate ONLY "Mod Manager", close the menu and let the mod initiate. This will make the rest much easier!

➡️ Go back into "Mods", the manager should now be active! At the bottom, next to Saved Presets, select "Enable All" from the dropdown menu, hit "Accept" on the bottom right and let the LUA reload

➡️ Now disable/choose from the following, ❔ denotes a CHOICE, ❌ means DISABLE:

❔ An Exhilaratingly Organized Lit Mod 3[...] - Choose the icons you would like for your books, only activate ONE 3x variation <I use 3c - Lemon>
❌ Arsenal(26) GunFighter [MAIN MOD 2.0] <Only use the legacy version (without the 2.0)>
❌ Authentic Z - Backpacks+
❌ Authentic Z - Lite <Use only the base version>
❔ Autotsar Tuning Atelier - (Spawn Chance x) - two of these mods come with optional spawn rate increases, choose the one you want <I use only the base version>
❌ ET 28 Brough Superior SS100
❌ ET 80 Kawasaki Kz1000 Police
❌ ET 90Zanella
❌ ET Autotsar Motorclub

❔ Filibuster Rhymes' Used Cars Names - Choose either Lore Friendly OR Real Names <I use Real Names>

❌ Mod Template <you might not even have this, if it's there, disable it>
❔ Pillow's Random Spawns - Choose the spawn lists you would like in your game! Louisville is the only region not included so if you want to start there, enable it here!
❌ Realistic Army Zombies (Red's Bloused Boots)
❌ Realistic Army Zombies (SMUI Compatibility)
❔ Time-Period Accurate Music - Choose the base version for cassettes AND vinyls, or one of the options
❔ Visible Holster - Choose the version you'd like
❌ Water Dispenser Disabler
❌ [SERVERS ONLY!] Turk's lasting jarred foodstuffs

➡️ Click on Accept once more & let the LUA reload. You shouldn't get any errors at this point (top right).

➡️ Head into your mod manager one last time. Click Mod Load Order on the bottom right and sort four mods so they're in this order (top to bottom): Road from Fort Knox to Bedford Falls | Fort Knox Linked to Eerie Country | Bedford Falls
This makes sure those two regions are actually properly connected with a road. Hit okay and accept.

➡️ Start your game! Always choose Custom Sandbox and make sure these settings are correct:
1. Sadistic AI Director - Set Helicopter to "Never" (we use a mod for this!)
2. (Optional) - Fitness Overhaul check "keep bags equipped" if you'd like to be able to work out without taking your backpack off

Adjust everything else to your liking and get playing!

📝 Highlights 📝

🦠 [formerly] ANTIBODIES
No longer does a scratch from a zombie cause death by pure RNG! Infection can and will still occur based on your own campaign settings, but depending on severity and general health, ZOMBIFICATION CAN BE SURVIVED! If infection is present you will get the same moodlets as before (queasiness, pain), but this is no longer guaranteed to kill you. Stay safe, take it easy for a few days and you might just survive. Be sure to stay well-fed and get plenty of rest. Bites are still quite severe and will take you out of the game for a while.
If you haven't found a safe house by the time you're infected, you may as well take the easy way out. Thanks to the Gun Suicide mod, pretty much any weapon with ammo will let you do so!

🚁 Expanded Helicopter Events
Just an absolutely fantastic mod that I hope will get integrated into the base game at one point. Instead of the boring one-time chopper event, this mod throws in tons of variety, with police helicopters dropping flyers, charity air drops with rations for the survivors or (later) even military aircraft gunning down zombies (and possibly you if you're not careful). You will also now see exactly where the helicopters are in relation to you, allowing you to hide more easily if you so wish.

🎮 Gameplay Tips 🎮
⚆ Use the ingame mod options to tweak larger impact mods to your liking
⚆ End game has been expanded on, many more resources can be crafted, farmed or found, use Craft Helper to get some inspiration!
⚆ Reading is a little faster than vanilla, sit down to speed it up more
⚆ You can walk while reading a book or magazine
⚆ Smokers rejoice! There are different brands of cigs available, each cigarette is smoked individually and you can recycle the stubs
⚆ You can now find skill books for almost every skill, some books have chapters for sub-skills (aiming books can teach reloading)
⚆ Death is not the end?? Using some paper, leather and a pen you can bind a skill recovery journal for new characters to use
⚆ Infected with the zombie virus? Get plenty of rest, eat until you're stuffed and try to get rid of any negative moodlets you can survive
⚆ There is a lot of new medicine available, powders are directly applied to the body part, syringes need to be loaded up first
⚆ Find a blood testing kit and right click one of your forearms to determine your blood type (shows up in info and you drop your testing slip)
⚆ Big containers will spawn on parking lots, those can hold a ton of fuel, but must be towed by a powerful vehicle
⚆ Fuel containers can be filled straight from a gas pump if towed close enough to it
⚆ Barrels can be used to store fuel, 20l bottles can be removed from water dispensers (and can also be filled with fuel!)
⚆ Fire engines will have a large water tank that you can use as storage
⚆ There's tons of actual 80s and early 90s music to be found, all cars have casette players and you can find LP players
