Food Expiration Date and Bar

Player can view more specific food condition. With the new trait player can additionally find out exact time to stale and rotten states with seconds precision. Trait costs 2 points as a generic human being is usually able to distinguish food state without intensive training.
Chefs and Burger flippers can automatically see additional info, as well as players which take Cook and Nutritionist traits (both cost more than a separate trait).
Compatible with versions 38.30, 40.43, 41.43, 41.45.
Additional configuration is possible: you can decide to see food status without a trait (for existing games) or disable seconds in tooltip if you don't like them ticking away so fast, see variables in 'tooltip.lua' for configuration. No in-game menus currently, feel free to add them if you need them or create patches and contact me.

How to Use
Hover the cursor over food in inventory or container. With the new trait 'Eye to food' tooltip shows a bar and time left to 'stale' and 'rotten' states with seconds precision. Otherwise, only rough estimation will be seen as a status, but still more detailed than in vanilla Zomboid.
Non-perishable food has 'No expiration date' message instead to help everyone distinguish it in-game without Wiki pages.

Food has 5 states (without trait) which are color-coded further for more convenience:
  • very fresh
  • fresh
  • okay
  • starting to rot
  • rotten (basically the in-game state)
States are rough estimates (consider them based on 'Best Before' date on the product) while colors are more like smelling actual food, and dates and smells can indicate different things. Use their combitation for better effect or spend 2 points for the new trait.

@rez : ok thx for the answer, I did'nt noticed that your mod don't considerate the fridge or freeze status and I understood that it's intentional and why ;)
As for food spoilage speed setting, I'm not sure but I took a look at your LUA file and I didn't see anything about that

Fridge efficiency should not play a role: counter tells exact time player has when the food is out of fridge/freezer. This way one doesn't have to guess which modifier is in place, just in-game time left in a food instance as if you have put it out.
Why? Because people have to thaw food before adding as ingredient, and at this point there may arise an unpleasant surprise when one thought they have enough time ('modified' by setting) whereas they actually don't.

As for food spoilage speed setting... I don't quite remember, but if it was not implemented, I will look into this.

Your mod is reallu cool but the time to stale and rotten don't adapt with modified sandbox settings for fridge efficiency and time to rotten, could you add this function please ? :)

Is it only me or what? I think it's working perfectly fine on 41.54

It is heartening to know that you are still active
Looking forward to updates! I don't feel complete without this mod

I will check it as soon as I have unmeterd connection to download 41.54, but probably they finally broke compatibility. Many mods stopped working since 41.54, and there's not so much we can do if we want to retain stable build compatibility (which is a priority).

Thank you. Please post it anywhere you like and give me the link. You can also paste it in here and I will include it in.

Just askin. I'm not familiar with how mods hold up in project zomboid when new game versions are released.
I'm actually super glad you made this mod. Thank you for your work.
Whenever I'm playing game like this or any other that has RPG elements I'm always searching for mod that adds bars for hunger/thirst etc. just like this one.
