I want to like this game, but can't be bothered.
The game has one major performance flaw on PC: Huge FPS loss in certain places and cutscenes.
I don't know what happened in the development of the port for PC, but a RTX 4060 unable to run the game in mid-to-low with less than 60 fps is... horrible.

Not much to complain here, good combat overall with a clunky camera.
If you're good at dodging the game is a breeze, huge dodge windows and bonus damage after a good timed dodge.

Now, the part of the game that frustrates me the most.

You're a superior breed of human, capable of using aether to conjure magicks. This group managed to be enslaved, mistreated, sacrificed, tortured... the same people that can conjure powerful winds and fire from the tip of their fingers. And a I mean, a lot of people can do that.
That still does not makes sense to me and makes every other aspect of the plot seem forced and stupid. It's like they never wanted to revolt because the "bad guys" have some kind of plot armor, even though they are nothing but common humans in iron pants.

Clive is a special kind of Dominant, capable of absorbing other dominants aspects and using for himself. Something that NO OTHER can do. With so much power, so much strength he takes 1 kick above the crotch from Barnabas without any power conjured and stays on the floor, groaning, time enough so Barnabas can use Odin's power to cut through Clive... HE WAS IN HIS IFRIT/HUMAN FORM AND 1 KICK WAS ENOUGH TO PRONE HIM????
There's a level of goof that Final Fantasy has, I get it, but this is stupid to the whole scenario that has been shown since the beginning. This game tries to be more adult but fails when it counts.
Let's hint that Benedikta's head was cutoff and sent to Kupka and not show it. Let's have the main character do delivery boy services even after being made leader of the "revolution". Let's create sections of corridors with some fights on the way to the main objective. Let's retcon the dog's powers.
This pisses me off.
This game tries to be more mature than previous Final Fantasies but fails every time.
Too much dialog for simple things, things that could be shown through actions and not exposing dialog.

Combat - 8/10
Story - 4/10
Performance - 5/10
Level design - 6/10 (could use less corridors, a lot less...)
English sub - 5/10 (Clive's VA makes me cringe)
Animations - 6/10 (a lot of reused and generic animations for dialogs and mouths do not seem to move properly)

Overall - 6/10
It's a good game when it's not trying to be a game for everyone, where naked people is OK but not blood.
