Welcome to a Virgin River Map by DeaconPMP
In September of 2021, a suggestion was made by a fellow map-maker and Cities:Skylines enthusiast to create a map inspired by the scenery in the show Virgin River. This fourth map of mine is my interpretation of those amazing scenic views, representing Humboldt County, California. The heightmap is based off of and adapted from where the show is actually filmed, a town called Squamish in British Columbia, Canada. Fair warning, my map-making style is very detailed and isn't for all builders because it can be quite taxing on a computer but, in this case, I just didn't see any other way to realize my vision. If you choose to play on this map, I hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Required Mods
In order to play this map, there are a number of required mods, many of which are listed here, but are fully included in the one-click collection:
Tree Anarchy 1.0.5 - There are 452,428 trees on this map, and they are coded to use the Tree Anarchy mod instead of the Unlimited Trees Mod. If youdo nto have Tree Anarchy 1.0.5, then you will only see a random sampling of 250,000 trees across the map and not get the full effect.
Theme Mixer 2 - Theme Mixer 2 is required to use the Virgin River Theme Mix that is also listed in the one-click collection. Without this, the correct textures will not load and the terrain contours will not align to the textures correctly.
Railway Replacer - Railway Replacer is required to use the Railway 2 networks that are on this map.
Catenary Replacer – Wile not 100% necessary, in order to fully appreciate the rail networks, Catenary Replacer is necessary because I have used non-standard Catenaries across the map.
Loading Screen Mod – Just use it… it’ll help your game actually load and run and provide a report of all of the assets you’ve used upon the map loading.
MoveIt - This is a requirement for Tree Anarchy and is an essential mod anyways
Prop Snapping - This is a requirement for MoveIt.
Prop Precision - This is also a requirement for MoveIt.

Suggested Mods
In order to get the absolutely full effect of this map, then you should use the following mods, some of which are included in the one-click collection:
Procedural Objects ver 1.7.4 – This map makes extensive use of procedural objects for detailing. Without this mod, the vast majority of the details will be lost and the experience a poorer one.
Traffic Manager: President Edition v11 Stable – There are two intersections in particular where TM:PE will come in useful to appropriately route traffic and prevent chaos.
Intersection Marking Tool 1.8.2 – Technically not required, without it, there won’t be any intersection markings which, while only cosmetic, still add to the aesthetics of the map.
Node Controller Renewal 3.2 Beta – Node Controller also isn’t necessary, but without it, some of the nodes will not align properly and some of them will not be appropriately sloped, making for a better aesthetic.
Ultimate Eye Candy v1.5.2 – Ultimate Eye Candy allows you to control a ridiculous amount of atmospheric factors that will allow you to better enjoy your maps.
Relight – As its name implies, Relight allows you to change the lighting of your city.
CubeMap Replacer – Allows you to really change up the skies overhead on your maps and add more character than the vanilla skies available.
81 Tiles Mod – You really can’t experience this map without all 81 tiles, plain and simple. Some of the best bits are outside of the vanilla-accessible 25 tiles.

Required DLC
There are three required DLCs because I used assets from them:
Mass Transit
Parklife
Industries

Map Features
-Rugged hills that overlook a central valley which is the primary buildable space
-Pre-cut harbor area should you choose to use it
-Pre-laid railyard for your use
-Two areas that are pre-designed as park areas for your city
-Multiple waterfalls and geographical features to augment your city’s aesthetics
-Custom hydroelectric powerplant generating 2.6GW of power for your city
-Jack’s Bar (or an attempt at it) from Virgin River
-Two waterfalls to take the place of Shannon Falls (actual falls near Squamish, BC)
-River canyon inspired by Virgin River

Resources Available:
Buildable Area: 76% (I don’t believe that, but hey, C:S says it, so it must be true!)
Ore
Oil
Forests
Fertile Land
Fishing: Anchovies, Salmon, & Shellfish

3 Train Connections In/Out
3 Road Connections In/Out
4 Plane Connections In/Out
2 Ship Connections In/Out

Visual Settings
This map is specifically designed to be used with the Virgin River Theme Mix in the one-click collection, but any theme can be used. The Virgin River theme mix gives most of its credit to the sensational CoosBay Theme by VecchioChristo.
I have also used the CubeMap Replacer Mod and all screenshots have been taken using the Straw Rolls Field cubemap and the Relight2Lush LUT. My Ultimate Eye Candy and Relight settings are below as well as in a screenshot above; I have used a latitude and longitude that is as close as possible to Squamish’s real lat/long:

Ultimate Eye Candy:
Latitude: 49.45
Longitude: 123.625
Global Light Intensity: 3.4065
Ambient Light Intensity 0.901

Relight:
Tonemapping
Brightness: 0.65
Gamma: 0.85
Contrast: 0.25

Special Thanks:
As always, a special thanks to the BonBon Buddies on Discord for providing me with the tools and feedback to make my maps better and, of course, BonBonB without whom so many of us would have no idea what the hell it is we were doing. Here is a link to BonBonB’s YouTube Channel.
Also, special shoutout to TurtletheBuilder for making the suggestion of doing a Virgin River map and providing me the encouragement to do so!

If you like the map, please rate it! If you have problems or you’d just like to leave a note, I try to respond to all of my comments. Thank you!

***NOTE*** Some users are having trouble loading the map and we haven't exactly figured out why. If this happens to you, please attempt to use the "Safe Mode" under the options for Loading Screen Mod in your Content Manager.

@Steinbock-007 - NTCP = Non-Terrain Conforming Props. These are generated after loading by the system and once you are in-game, so they will always show up on your LSM report as missing. So long as you have the actual prop (which in every case it says that you do) then NTCP will create a non-terrain conforming version once you have completed loading the map. It should be located directly next to the asset it was created from by have a blue icon on the bottom right indicating that it is the NTCP version of that asset.

@Weillie396 - I'll be honest, I never expected that mountain outside connection to be a main ingress/egress point for the map, so I kept that road intentionally small. Without severing that connection and forcing traffic to come in on the main highways on the north and west sides of the map, your next best bet would be the Unlimited Outside Connections Revisited 1.1 Mod which will allow you to add more outside connections both in-game and in editor.

You can find that mod here.

Obviously it's another mod, so you'll have to make sure you read all of the instructions and maybe save an extra copy of your map to play around with first, but that should work.

Good luck and thank you for playing on Virgin River!

Absolutely loving this map so far. Subscribed to all the one click collection and worked perfectly. Slight issue I have found as my city grows is the main outgoing connection (ends in the mountain) is becoming clogged and the traffic doesn't flow through causing large jams. Any help would be welcomed. Thanks and once again, great map

@luxedesignstore - what issues are you having?

IDK about the others, I have literally all the official expansion content available.

@sizequeen74 I also just got a new system and will start trying to troubleshoot again once I have everything back setup to see what I can come up with as a solution. I'm sorry that you cannot play it.

Unfortunately I'm one of the people who can't load the map. I have tried it all. No matter what I do the simulation fails/object reference not set.

I may try again in the future but I doubt it'll be soon since this is a relatively fresh install/PC build. I'd be happy to try any suggestions though.

@MattloveOHIOST5 - the bridge is a bit of an offset with it's center of mass, so you might just not be zoomed out enough to have selected the bridge yet. Other than that, i'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to delete it. The arches are from the Connell Bridge, so make sure that you've subscribed to that although I will get into the map tomorrow if I have time to see whether or not those are procedural objects or not.

1. The bridge in the 15th photo only has the iron part and not the stone arches part. 2. When I try to delete the bridge, i can only delete the tracks and not the bridge itself. Any ideas?
