Having an issue with graphics on Crystal Isles map.

Could really use some help here. On the Crystal isles map, and I think other maps too, The graphics are looking really awful in some places. The cliffs and hills are not rendering properly and I am not sure how to fix this. I was hoping someone might be able to help me?? I have tried changing the settings, reinstalling the game, everything I can think of. I am attaching some links to Imgur screenshots... anyone got any idea how I can fix this??

As you will see in this image I am standing in mid air where there SHOULD be a small rock/cliff with a flat area:

This one shows how the cliff top and hill have rendered in these weird big triangle shapes. There SHOULD be a flat top there which you can see where the trees, plants and rocks are floating above appearing in mid air. There should be flat land there with a sharp cliff.

This is a screenshot of my graphics settings.... the same ones used on my daughter's laptop. I am running 32GB of ram with a GeForce 3060 gpu at 2560x1440.

For the sake of more accurate information: go to the steam help menu, click "system information" and then copy paste all that here so we can see what steam detects for your rig and any potential discrepacnies.

But just from the very limited mentioned information, your graphic card isn't meant to play ark in the highest graphic fidelity settings and ark tends to be better in resoiutions in the 1900x----- range. But again there can be other discrepancies as well contributing to your issues.

I tried going to 1920x1080 but it still looks the same. :-(

Its just part of things that do cause issues for people.

1. You also show that you've 2 drives. Make sure that ark and steam are both also on the same drives.

2. Get the nvidia geforce experience program from nvidia's website and make sure you're using the settings that it recommends for ark specifically to play.

3. Again, as I said in my first post, your card is -not- supposed to play ark in maximum graphic fidelity settings. You have to accept that you're not going to have the best fidelity and pushing to do so comes with performance issues and potentially it not being as it should be graphically looking either.

4. Other factors that can strain things can be if you're playing with modded content, overboosted game play stats, mall sized bases and dino counts etc. Those things can cause both rendering and performance problems, especially if bad mods too.

This map is empty so It can't be number of building or size of base. This IS a dedicated server and I do have a number of mods on it. I can try and reduce that a bit, though I do use most of them. I am sure I can find some I can live without.

I will make sure Steam and Ark are on the same SSD... I believe they are but I will double check.

I will get the GeForce Experience program and try that.

I will also contact my server hosting company... this issue has only cropped up in the last couple of months and I do know that they made some changes around then.

1. If you wish, list all mods by name you're using and in their load order.

2. You didnt specify whether you're using altered settings for your server such as over boosted speed, wild dino count etc.

3. Contacting your hosting company for this issue is probably not a source to consider. You can of course go to an official The Island map server(ie default settings no mods and that map being the most stable) to see if you also encounter the same issues.

But again you need to ground your graphic expectations due to your 3060 card as well that I mentioned. Its again not meant to play ark in the top settings and its settings that geforce experience would recommend are going to not look as good due to the settings being dropped down.

That is an extreme mod glut.

Not a small number of mods on that list are known to be broken and abandoned as well. It is your responsibility to go through each mod page in the workshop section of steam and remove the broken and abandoned ones.

Also, using multiple mods adding dinos, items, utilities but from different authors is an easy source of issues and conflicts.

Also, some of the mods in that list may require specific load orders and following other further instructions to work properly.

All in all, that's a mess.

Just because you used them before doesn't mean they weren't supposed to be in this manner. You were gambling essentially as that's a "when" not an "if" list for issues.

If you were using all that, easily there could be issues regarding both graphic issues and other issues up to and including game crashes and even a save corruption.
