Simple Humans

Description
Contest!
I'm not sure if most of you know, but I'm actually participating in the modding contest even though this mod has been out for less than a week (published and submitted it 1 minute before entry closing hehe).

If you're having fun and like my mod I would greatly appreciate a vote! I'm currently far far behind but I still get super happy by every vote I recieve!
Voting can be done here: https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/modding/voting/

You can give out 3 votes to 3 different mods, if you put more than one vote on the same mod then none of them will count.

What does this mod do?
  • Adds Simple Humans that are tameable and breedable.
  • Adds a Simple Anvil that converts items to be used by the Simple Humans.
  • Adds a Patrol Torch, used to mark patrol paths for the Simple Humans.
Both items are craftable inside the inventory of the Simple Humans. Spawn codes can be found here.

Does it work on Singleplayer and Dedicated?
Yes. It also doesn't alter any core files and is clean and stackable with other mods.

What can the Simple Humans do?
Aside from anything a normal dino can do, they can also:
  • Equip any clothing and clothing skins (Includes armor and skins added from other mods).
  • Equip and use any melee tool and weapon after it has been simplified (Weapons from mods works too).
  • Ride some of your dinos/creatures (See list further down).
  • Patrol a given path if given waypoints by the player. Waypoints are created with the Patrol Torch.
How do I get a simplified Weapon?
In the Simple Anvil you can convert a normal weapon to a simplified one. Put the normal weapon in the inventory of the Simple Anvil and select it, then press the button in the middle of your screen named Simplify Main hand weapon. It can then be equipped on a Simple Human

How do I make my Simple Human ride something?
First you make sure the thing you want it ride passes the following:
  1. Is supported by the mod (See list further down).
  2. Is not a mods version of that dino/creature.
  3. If it normally needs a saddle it needs to be equipped with a Simple Saddle.
If it passes that, make sure they are in range and then you access the Multiuse wheel (Hold E) on your Simple Human. Click on Mount.. and then on the dino/creature you want it to ride.

How do I get a Simple Saddle?
Same way as the weapon. Put one of your saddles inside the inventory of the Simple Anvil, select it and press the button named Simplify Saddle and your saddle will be converted.

Can I convert my Simple Saddle/Weapon back to normal?
Yes you can, the simple anvil also got a button named Remove Simplification.

What dinos/creatures are currently rideable by the Simple Humans?
Making them ride creatures was not easy, the only way I found that worked good is the current system. How ever it requires me to add support for every creature I want to be rideable. That is very time consuming, so to start off the following are rideable (Both normal and Abberant versions):
  • Dire Bear
  • Dire Wolf
  • Equus
  • Parasaur
  • Raptor
  • Trike
  • Thyla
  • Ravager
  • Sabertooth Cat
  • Baryonix
  • Allosaurus
  • Argentavis
More will be added as time goes. If you think your favourite creature should be supported then write it in the discussion thread and I just might do it faster!

How do I make them patrol a given path?
First you need a Patrol torch, this can be crafted in the Simple Human inventory. Next you put it in your slots and use it. The patrol torch has 2 modes that you cycle through with right click mousebutton. When your Simple Human got a patrol path you access his multiuse wheel (hold E]) and click Patrol...

Set Patrol Path Mode
LeftMouseButton: Adds a waypoint to the patrol path
LeftCtrl: Removes the last waypoint that was added
RightMouseButton: Goes into 'Give Patrol Path Mode"

Give Patrol Path Mode
LeftMouseButton: Gives the hit Simple Human the complete set of waypoints made with the Patrol Torch (Has to be atleast 2 waypoints).
RightMouseButton: Goes into "Set Patrol Path Mode"

Clothes worn in the pictures include skins from Wardrobe Skins by Murkablo
Saddles in the pictures include saddles from Saddle Emporium by Nivea

Special Thanks to Impulse author of the Capitalism mods for helping me out a lot!

lastly, you'll see that the tame human's clothing inventory no longer has a place for shoes. That space is now where you place its 'simplified' melee weapon. This does not mean that your tame has to run around barefoot. Shoes will equip normally from your inventory by pressing the USE key (default is E) just like all other clothing.

Of course, there are other NPC mods to choose from and some (like Human_NPCs) offer more options to configure the appearance, clothing, housing, taming, utility, etc. but this is the first one I used years ago and just wanted to share that so far, it can still work as designed (on ASE). For now.

Hadn't tried this mod in a few years and when I loaded it I found I couldn't keep babies from dying almost immediately. Figured out that If I raise the BABYMATURESPEED setting up to 100, they grow instead of die (advanced tab, upper left, when launching game). You can raise it more if you like but 100 safely kept them alive but didn't make the mature time ridiculously fast.

Also found that sometimes male/female offspring are born with wrong sex model and/or name. Obviously you can rename them and I noticed that after exiting game, the next time in the models would match the sex of the character. To be fair, I was also using the Best Egg mod which allows you to capture the newborns as eggs, optimize their stats based on their parents, and reverse their sex if you choose.

P.S. Any bugged humans: T posing, not following, floating, sinking...are mostly fixed by cryoing and uncryoing. Use your Pokeballs. The only side effect is that you lose the ability to ride them like a big ape afterwards.

This looks like an abandoned mod, but some parts of it still works.

Dino mounting is bugged so don't use that. The Humans can only use basic swords, bows, crossbows and they need to be simplified at the bench. They can only equip up to ascended Riot Gear. But if you combine that with no durability mod...you see what that can do? You can also skin the armor before equipping. Mine looks like it's using Tek gear, but it's just Riot Gear.

No guns work. But that's ok The melee damage of a bred, mutated and fully levelled human is around 2.5k Higher with Yuty roar. They can't tank much, so they're best used in combination with tanky dps dinos like Rexes and Theris. I was able to beat all Gamma Bosses of the Island, using just humans and the said dinos. They don't start dying until the Beta bosses and up due to higher boss/minion damage. One human survived up to the Alpha kill however. I'm working on giving it max mutations and wild levels in health to see if it will survive. Works great with the dino upgrade mod.

Feeding babies --- Put the food in YOUR inventory. (cooked meat, cooked prime meat, mejoberries) There are the ones that worked for me. Access the baby's inventory and click on the food to highlight it. Press and hold T (It won't transfer but you will see the food meter slowly rise up by ticks per second) Once it reaches a certain amount, the food will transfer to the baby's inventory and you're ok to off load more food.
