GWENT: The Witcher Card Game

I have over 900 hours on gwent the card game , i have seen a lot of its rises and falls in the last 2 years or so that i have played it , during this time the game has gone from a functioning and relatively well balanced card game with some slightly overcrept archetypes and always changing metas , they were usually nothing major usually revolving around a greedy gimmick such as thinning and viy , however something changed with the game when they did the price of power update , it felt as if the entire game was flipped upside down and the vast range of cards available ceased to be playable because of the new additions , why would you play a 4 provision cost card that has a total of 5 to 6 value when the new ones could reach 9 , and in conjunction with the new other cards could go even higher than that? Slowly decks started devolving , instead of them being wide and different , they were always the same , the game stopped being cared for , the new additions of cards were always in all chances better than their counterparts , how was a game suppose to strive or even flourish in these conditions , the addition of sihil and renfri was what broke it for me , stupidly op cards that became the only meta available to play against , and a lack of caring and or understanding from the developers allowed this problem to grow , they refuse to look at the cards and fix them , instead they nerf the archetype itself , and then a cycle begins , a bad archetype , a major buff that breaks it , a massive nerf that weakens it, a rework that makes it bad , and repeat , it has happened to almost all of them so far , the number of cards you have no longer matters , when a single card can play for 50 points alone or more , why bother at this point , i am just sad with how the game has turned out, and i wish i could simply keep the gwent that i came to love

GWENT: Rogue Mage (Single-Player Expansion)

I love gwent as it is one of my most played games on steam, and in all honesty a single player expansion is what i have dreamed of ever since i first started playing it a year or so ago , however as excited as i was for this release i have come to understand that it suffers major flaws that until they are looked at and properly addressed will continue to be a negative factor for the game,but let me also say that if possible i would give this game a middle ground review as i believe it has good qualities but also problems.

My biggest complaint is that every single match you have blue coin , which means that you go first and your opponent always has last say , this creates a major problem because you never know how much you have to commit to win the round , which can lead to a lot of situations where you lose by a swing of points that in no way shape or form you could have prepared for , you either utterly defeat your opponent by slamming as many points as possible and using the limited resources that you have aka energy for spells , or you face losing to a card you did not even know your opponent could be using.

The second complaint i would have is that some enemies have what i call a rock paper scissors type of deck , in which all of their cards are made to counter one of the basic pre-made decks that you have access too , for example the enemy toad that poisons your units and boosts his own by the power of your unit he poisoned , this is a direct counter play to the buffing pre-made deck and can easily lead to you losing simply because the enemy youre facing was tailored to defeat yours.

My third point would have to be the difficulty of the game itself , as if having blue coin was not enough a lot of enemies simply have far too strong of a kit and are able to slam as many points as they need without you being able to do anything against it unless you managed to find a quick and broken combo to win the game with , considering that and this is SPOILERS , after losing your companion the game becomes far harder with the addition of a new SPECIAL enemy that is without a doubt one of the strongest ones available to fight , the loss of your companion causes you to lose an essential key to your deck , which is playing something from the graveyard which could really help in the fight against SPECIAL enemies.

I truly do hope they get around to fixing this game and although my negative opinion could be seen as a discouragement towards the developers , i wish to express it as a desire to see the game improve.
