Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a story-driven experience that explores the gradual descent into psychosis of the protagonist – Senua. Its representation of mental illness can be eye-opening and disturbing at times, and the use of real-time motion capture and binaural audio design are impressive.

The puzzle-solving and pacing of the game can feel a little tedious at times, but these are inconsequential when considering the overall message or intention of the game.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is as beautiful as it is soul-crushing – a masterclass of atmosphere and conceptual design, and it is well worth the journey.
