Pattern Skins - Complete List with Guides

This guide lists all currently added skins that are affected by the PatternID by moving around the pattern in the weapon, making each PatternID look different than the next, complete with all guides made by other community members on each skin's particular rare patterns.

Introduction

First I'd like to present the Patina and Gunsmith Skins guide, which may interest you if you like to have unique items. Going BS might help you with being unique while still looking cool!

Secondly I'd like to explain that I had this done for myself because I like to hunt every single special skin for my collection. I figured, if I already have all of this done to myself and I find it useful, maybe someone else will find it useful as well, so I posted it. I know it's useless, no need to comment that again :)

Now In this guide, I list all skins that are affected by the PatternID. These skins are then classified with a value from I to V in terms of importance of the PatternID to the aspect of the said skin. This classification method was placed with the intent to facilitate quick, vertical reading of this guide, while still being able to use CTRL+F to find skins with the wanted level of importance.

This guide is taste-independent, meaning that even skins considered ugly to most, like, for instances, the Aug Condemned, are still classified with a correct value that reflects how much the skin changes depending on the PatternID (This skin is classified as a IV as it can be almost full orange top, full gray top, or double-colored with a nice, centered division).

Classification

TLDR of the classification
I - Has pattern, you can't tell
II - Pattern moves around, almost unnoticeable
III - Noticeable pattern presence/absence OR slight pattern alignment features
IV - Noticeable color changes OR noticeable alignment features, both with community recognized patterns and preferences
V - Night and day differences between patterns, can be considered as two skins within same skin name


Descriptive version of the classification with examples
I - The skin's change to the pattern are so minimal you can't really find a pattern that can be considered better. (Example: SCAR-20 Carbon Fiber)
II - These have Pattern ID's that can increase/decrease the concentration of a particular "stain" of the pattern in a certain area, or move around the "stain" to certain areas which can make the skin slightly more appealing. (Example: Glock Catacombs)
III - These we can clearly see there are "stains" that can be present or absent in the weapon OR there's small texture features that can be aligned smoothly to the weapon's body, making it clearly more appealing even though it's a very small thing. (Example: Glock High Beam - Full lines vs almost no lines)
IV - Skin changes color very noticeably OR there's texture properties that can be aligned to the weapon and increase it's appeal exponentially (Example: CZ Polymer Full blue OR Full black, Slaughter patterns for knives, AWP Boom text being displayed centered)
V - Skin changes color drastically, as if it's two different skins under one name. (Example: Case Hardened Blue gem OR Gold gem OR Random, 5-7 Neon Kimono Full green OR Full white)


Disclaimer: I want all readers to know that my classification might not be perfect. Most errors probably occur between the III and IV, which can be highly debated about, specially between someone who likes the skin and someone who doesn't care much about the said skin.
For instances, you might think I over-evaluate the Sawed Bamboo Shadow, but actually, having the centered red dot makes that skin much more appealing to me, and it probably makes a lot of difference to people who have the need for centered/well aligned things, as such, even though it's just a little dot, I classify it as a IV.

• ID's for full fade are the same for Karambit, Talon and AWP

• MP7 Fade and Scout Acid Fade - ID's are identical, yet different from all other Fade skins

Impossible to calculate. I did it with time, while I was making my own collection of skins, and I started it way back in like 2014, so it was easy due to a lesser number of skins. Then I realized it could be useful for others, so I started converting my notepad into a postable guide. That indeed took like a week, just for formatting alone. But it was easy enough, and worth it. Nowadays is quite simple, majority of case skins aren't pattern based, so only map collections need updating.

The rating of 4 states "Skin (...) texture properties that (...) increase its appeal exponentially", it includes the community's opinion already. Yes, it's biased, hence why I added the disclaimer right below my ratings explanation

Ratings will always be subjective and unfair if we compare one skin under the example of another. It's impossible to appease everyone, but I do take opinions and good arguments in consideration and change the ratings accordingly

Having to stack a massive Bowie vs Stiletto knife model and output a single rating makes things even harder. Knife skin ratings are inherently flawed on this point also

If you can show me two or three examples of gems in the same model, I'll consider bumping it to rating of 4, otherwise I don't feel confident enough to do the change without proper research and TBH, I don't want to put in the effort

I mean yeah, but it seems like some other skins were not evaluated that strictly.
For example Crimson Web, which is always red and black - all be it with highly different pattern - and yet it is a 4.

I can still see why you placed it like this, I am just saying that there might be a bit of subjective crowd pleasing going on because otherwise this would place the crimson web on the same level as the safari mesh in a rating.

Good point, changed to 3. Don't agree with rating it 4 since the pattern changes are still rather subtle, unlike what 4 describes, so I'll be conservative.

Safari Mesh should be either 3 or 4, at least for knives.

You can have solely a beige background with a dark net, or a greenish background with a lighter colour for the net.
Then you can also have "gems" which don't have a visible net, you can have "fades" between several types etc.

Whilst looking at all the different skin types for the shadow Daggers, I found that they have at least 5 distinct different pattern types - depending on how you, draw the lines, we can get up to 10 or so.
