Intro

The reason I wanted to create this guide was because the "Cyanbit" is one of my favorite knives in the game and purchasing the correct one can be a very cumbersome task - because there is no solid foundation of value or tierlist. This usually leads to every seller claiming their Karambit is a "Max Cyan" or the "Best Pattern Cyanbit" and without a solid tierlist - it can be very difficult to determine what you are getting. The only info I have been able to find is a list of good patterns on Broskins curated by Tchuriki (so mad props to him.) However, his list is 2.5 years old at this point and is more of a list of some of the better patterns and not really a "tier-list." Because this is my favorite knife - I thought it was as good a time as ever to finally get around to making this guide.

Obviously there is a large level of objectivity that must be acknowledged and I am not claiming that my opinion is the be-all-end-all in regards to the tier ranking - as everyone will have their own opinions and preferences. That being said - I have spent at least 35 hours making this guide and have manually inspected every pattern to pick out the top 150 BTA (Bettern Than Average) Patterns - so I have seen my fair share of "Cyanbit" patterns.

As a quick note: make sure to inspect your Karambit IN GAME before making your purchase - as "Cyanbits" are notorious for looking EXTREMELY different based on the lighting conditions!

It should also be noted that this list is for Factory New (FN) condition Gamma Doppler Phase 3 Karambits ONLY and NOT Minimal Wear (MW).

Sigma and Delta Patterns Explained

To begin, I wanted to start fresh from scratch - without any outside influence from Tchuriki's list - to see if we would arrive at the same conclusions. This means I sorted through every single Gamma Doppler Phase 3 Karambit manually to pick out the top 150 Cyan BTA (Better Than Average) patterns.

Something to remember is that the screenshots generated by the csmoney wiki tend to be a poor representation of what these Karambits will look like in game due in large part to majorly distorted lighting issues.

I then entered the top 150 patterns into a spreadsheet and (using the broskins server) generated every single one into a server that allowed me to hold and inspect them. After taking a few screenshots of each of the 150 BTA Karambits - I sorted them into a rudimentary sort of "tier list" and grouped them into categories that seemed similar. What I began to notice is that all of the "best" patterns fell into 2 groups (similar to the "SCAR" pattern AK-47) which I titled the "DELTA" pattern (because of the pyramid shape that looks like the Delta letter in the Greek Alphabet) and the "SIGMA" pattern (because of the shape that looks like the Greek Sigma letter - how convenient.)

Because everyone will have their own preference between the "Sigma" pattern and the "Delta" pattern - I have included the patterns for both in each tier level. (Personally, I prefer the Delta patterns)

The ONLY outlier I found that did not fit into these 2 categories was pattern #793 for some reason.

After using and categorizing all 150 BTA patterns - I chose what I would consider to be the "TOP TIER" Delta and Sigma patterns to further analyze. I then gave each knife a 1-10 numerical rating for: Playside, Backside, and Ring (the "finger hole") This allowed me to rank all the patterns that were very similar to each other within their ranks.

These are all patterns that have been brought to my attention by amazing community members! Some of these could definitely be considered "Tier 1" patterns, but they do not easily fit into the "Sigma" or "Delta" categories mentioned above - so I decided to create their own category here! Other BTA Patterns

There are a TON of other patterns that are really nice, but unfortunately there are a lot that have green tips (some more subtle than others) and that is generally why they did not make it into the top 3 tiers.

These are the other 100+ patterns that are definately BTA (Better Than Average) but did not make it into the top 3 tiers for one reason or another. I do have photos of them all, but this guide would be absolutely huge if I uploaded them so I have opted for a list sorted numerically.

Conclusion

My personal favorite pattern if I had to pick one would be the Delta #956 or #782 but I think any of the patterns in the top 3 tiers are great picks!

I have toyed with adding a section with the best "Backside" patterns if there is interest, but if you guys have any suggestions please feel free to let me know.
