Intro

About a year ago, while I was trying to pick out a pair of Overprints for my loadout - someone reached out to me with a basic tier list of patterns they had made. Unfortunately I do not remember who that was, nor do I have the list anymore - so I thought I would start from scratch and make my own.

Obviously there is a large level of objectivity that must be acknowledged in regards to "tierlists" and (as always) I am not claiming that my opinion is the be-all-end-all in regards to the tier ranking - as everyone will have their own opinions and preferences. However, I have spent countless hours making this guide over the past few weeks and have inspected every FN and MW pattern to break them into categories and tiers - so I have seen my fair share of "Overprint" patterns.

It should be noted that this list is for Factory New (FN) , Minimal Wear (MW) conditions only - as it would be a substantial amount of work to go through an additional 300-1500 patterns to find the few that have been unboxed only for Field Tested (FT), Well Worn (WW) or Battle Scarred (BS) and would probably not be worth it (because of the condition).
Pattern Categories Explained
To begin, I sorted through every single "Overprint" pattern available for (FN) and (MW), to manually to pick out the top BTA (Better Than Average) patterns.

For this guide, I used CSMoney's "Wiki" page to generated png images that give a much clearer view of the pattern than if I were to inspect them in-game.

I then entered the top patterns into a spreadsheet and sorted them into groups based on the pattern categories I found. These are the patterns that I came up with:

POLYGON PATTERNS
These are generally considered to be "the best" and most desired patterns by collectors and feature the most surface area of the "Polygon" section of the pattern template. There are different metrics one could use for determining which patterns would be better than others - but I have generally grouped the top tier patterns as those with the most centered patterns on the top and bottom straps as a priority and the middle "diagonal" strap as a secondary priority. Similar to all the categories - it is very important to have as little of the "flower" pattern present as possible.

Example "Polygon Pattern" Pattern (#427)

ARROW PATTERNS
These are the patterns that have the "arrows" or "chevrons" as the dominant feature instead of the polygons or flowers present in other categories. Based on the preference of the collector, these can be just as desired (or more in some cases) as the "Polygon Patterns."

Example "Arrow" Pattern (#679)

MIXED PATTERNS
These are the patterns that have a combination of both the "arrow" and "polygon" patterns - but don't quite fit into either category. These should be considered the "BTA" (Better than Average) patterns as there are some really cool options available - but they are generally not as highly sought-after and much more based on personal preference. For this reason, these patterns are not "ranked" into tiers and are just listed in numerical order.

Example "Mixed" Pattern (#25)

FLOWER PATTERNS
These are the patterns that I found that have the MAX amount of flowers on them. Generally, patterns that contain any amount of the flower pattern are considered to be very low-tier - however, I decided to feature these as a fun additional category because there might actually be a collector out there who likes the flower pattern. For this reason, these patterns are not "ranked" into tiers and are just listed in numerical order.

Example "Flower" Pattern (#197)
