These are Dutch mods (For example: Dutch manufacturer). Mods with Dutch companies theme/livery (For example: NS, Shell, KLM, TNT) or items/vehicles found also (and in the past) in the Netherlands (For example: high speed tracks + signals, foreign manufactuers, freight wagon, asset mods and mods with theme/livery of foreign companies like Thalys, DHL, Flixbus, DB and so on)

Some tips for creating a Dutch world (theme) Date: July 2024

Passenger Transport

Rail
The biggest passenger train company is NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen) with only the Dutch state as biggest shareholder. NS operates the biggest intercity railway lines and main commuter lines. Then there are some smaller company's operating a few different lines throughout different provinces for a time period.

R-Net
Is a network of trains, buses, subway and trams operating by different local and national company's in the Randstad area. (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht (and everything in between).

Local Public Transport
Also you have different city and local public transport companies throughout different provinces. There are 2 cities with a subway network. Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Then there are 4 cities with trams. Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht.

High Speed Rail
Currently there is one specific high speed rail line with dedicated high speed rail tracks and signals known as HSL (Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Breda) and then into Belgium. Operating companies are:
NS (Intercity Direct the folluw up for the the big failing project with the Fyra trains)
Thalys (Amsterdam – Paris (Disney Land)
Eurostar (Amsterdam – London (Canal Tunnel France)

ICE
There is one ICE line in the Netherlands. It runs over the conventional national rail tracks from Amsterdam (Utrecht – Arnhem) into Germany and Austria. The Dutch part is a NS and DB cooperation. Fun fact: Of the entire ICE fleet there are just 4 trains that have a Dutch NS logo instead of a DB one.

Other Foreign/Border Trains
NS/DB Intercity (Amsterdam-Berlin) NS1600 with DB carriages (Emmerich) DB Locomotive, Abellio NS (Arnhem-Dusseldorf), Keolis Deutschland Eurobahn (Hengelo-Bielefeld) + (Venlo-Mönchengladbach), DB Regio (Enschede-Munster), Arriva (Groningen-Weener) and NMBS (Roosendaal-Antwerpen) + (Maastricht-Hasselt (B).

Air
There is one big intercontinental airport called Schiphol in the municipality Haarlemmermeer limits near Amsterdam. Then there are some smaller airports with flights mostley from and to big cities and holiday destinations in Europe, Rotterdam Airport, Eindhoven Airport, Maastricht Airport and Groningen Airport for example. A wel known Dutch airline company is KLM.

Rail Technical
On conventional national railway security system ATB and Dutch light signals are used. Trains use 1500/1600 volts DC power. (Dutch catenaries and light signals can be found in the collection)
On the HSL railway line, security system ERTMS level 2 is used (with level 1 as backup) and no light signals, but balises. Trains use 25000 volts AC power. (Special tracks, catenaries and the ERTMS balise used can be found in the collection)

For buses, planes and boats there is pretty much no difference with other European countries for what technical aspects goes.

Freight Transport

Rail
There is a lot of freight train activities in the Netherlands with mostly al lot of work in the biggest port of Europe Rotterdam, with routes from and to the Port of Rotterdam and The port of Vlissingen into Germany. In the past there was one railway company operating freight trains. NS Cargo untill they merched with DB Cargo. When the government decided to open up freight rail transportation to everyone who wants to, ACTS became the first commercial freight train operating company next to DB Cargo but went bankrupt soon. Today there are a lot of freight train companies operating with DB Cargo beeing the biggest at the moment. Keep in mind that the list of companies is changing very fast.

Kijfhoek
This is the biggest freight train railyard in the Netherlands. The North side begins in Heerjansdam and the Southside ends in Zwijndrecht. A other big freight train railyard in the Netherlands is the Maasvlakte located in the port of Rotterdam.

Betuweroute (Betuwe line)
This is a special route for freight trains with dedicated infratructure like special tracks that can hold really heavy trains at decent speed for example. The line runs officialy from the Maasvlakte (Rotterdam Harbor Line) passes Kijfhoek Railyard and then to Zevenaar. There the line is merching with conventional national railway tracks and then into Germany with Emmerich beeing the official freight train border station. There is only one railyard on the Betuwe Route located in Meteren, used when needed.

Trucks, planes and boats
For trucks, planes and boats counts there is no specific difference with other European countries.
