Description
From 1991, new wagons for the transport of coils were procured by the German Federal Railway. These wagons can load up to 107 tonnes and have a tare weight of between 28 t and 34 t. The wagons are mainly used to transport hot-rolled sheet metal coils.
The design of the loading frame allows the loading of sheet metal coils at temperatures of up to 600° C, but the loaded vehicle may only be transported when the temperature on the outer skin of the sheet metal coils has reached 100° C.
The loading frame, which weighs around 6 tonnes, is removable. It is secured in four sockets in the wagon floor by means of pins.
