After hitting level 1,000 recently, I feel that I am in a right spot to review this game and oh BOY do I have a lot to talk about.

Do not be fooled by my playtime, as I have played this game on mobile for WAY longer before I found out it was available on steam.

Now first thing I wanna talk about is the pricing of the game: This game stands strongly with Free to Play. Through the years of playing, I HAVE spend a little to unlock the premium chest in game, but by NO means is it necessary. You get every single resource from simple grind and weekly through guilds and events, even the premium currency! Gems of War is extremely F2P friendly and not once in the game have I found a state of the game where there would be a paywall.

As for content, you will literally always have something to do. There are a lot of kingdoms in the game with their own little funny and whacky lore but once you finish these, then what? Well, you get the underground where you can go through delves, kingdom challenges, weekly guild events, explore to strengthen your troops further and that is just the start of it. I never once booted up Gems of War and thought ''Man, I got nothing else to do''.

As far as difficulty goes, when I was a new player at the time, sure there was a small difficulty spike BUT once you push through it and get good troops everything in the game just flies by, mitigating some grind like Gold, Souls and Glory. There are definitely things in the game that are way beyond your level, but that's the charm of GoW! You have to take the resources and troops you got and prove to the game that you won't be stopped by some measly level 500 enemy team. Hell, I even had some fun and had an AI generate me teams, granted I lost most of the time.. but it was still fun!

The playerbase and community is also another point that is worth talking about. Every one that I have met in-game and out of game are super friendly and willing to help if needed. There are also plenty of youtubers and utility websites/discord servers out there for you to find people to chat with or request help from!

Overall, Gems of War was always something fun to play for me, whether if it's to kill time or genuinely play a game. I strongly recommend the game if you are looking for a truly F2P game!
