Shogun 2 and its expansion Fall of the samurai is so far the best Total war game and one of the best strategy games of all time. Great Avatar conquest system in multiplayer. Nothing similar created in other TW games. All those faction systems are not even a bit as deep as Avatar conquest in Shogun 2. Veterans, skills, creation of your personal army. Nothing can compare with this. Yes it is really rough to new players. But if you have enough patience eventually you will enjoy Avatar conquest like nothing else before. The main negative feature of multiplayer of Shogun 2 in my humble opinion is that CA don't give a damn about this game any more and so they don't put any effort to it to make it better, they don't patch the game. Nothing. As for single player I find it really good as well. As far as I remember it is the first game where food system was implemened. So you get not just money but also food as the resource you always need to check and watch thoroughly. Also I really like coalition system as you grow strong and everyone else are turning against you even your vassals and allies. This feature makes you plan your strategy really caferully trying not to overextend too much. And that's great because for example in Rome 2 you just pierce through your enemies like a knife through butter and no one can stop you in the late game at all, so in the mid game you simply lose interest to game process because of no challenge what so ever. Overall I recomend this game to all RTS fans, it's totally worth its money.
