NO. CE is the furthest thing from a cosmetic mod only.
Absolute must.

I think technically this isn't a cosmetic? Either way it's a very cute thing to have.

Show Draftees Weapon
Incredibly useful and should definitely be in the vanilla game imo. Does exactly what the name suggests. Absolutely recommended for a vanilla playthrough!

Facial Stuff 1.0
It may not look very vanilla-style, but in my opinion it enhances pawns' personalities greatly without changing anything about the game.
Adds configurable facial features such as beards, eyes, eyebrows, hands, and feet. Also makes it so that hair and beards properly show under hats so all your colonists won't suddenly turn bald when wearing their favourite cowboy hat, also manages to cut the sprites nicely to stop hair from going through hats.
I recommend disabling mouths and feet for a more vanilla-ish experience and because pawns just look better that way. Also mess around in the mod settings if you don't want your pawns to visually strip their clothes off whenever they enter a building.
I also recommend installing some hair mods that you think look good. Preferably hair mods that don't have their own beards. I recommend Vanilla Hair Expanded, but do disable it's beards from the mod settings.
Don't get spooked by the fact that the mod is no longer being developed like I did. The game is already completed and the mod does and will work perfectly.

Simple FX: Smoke
Very small and lightweight. Adds a smoke/steam effect to buildings such as cooking stations and campfires. Is nice.

Better Vanilla Masking
Enabled proper masking for buildings. Stone blocks on the stonecutting table's texture no longer are made of wood.

Pawn Badge
Lets you give your pawns little badges next to their icons. Good for categorizing pawns by their firepower and profession. Goes well with Show Draftees Weapon.

Level Up!
Get notified when a colonist levels up. Very configurable!

Graphics Setter - Fix Your Textures!
Makes modded textures look on par with vanilla textures by doing stuff. Basically enables less blurry modded textures and makes them look sharper.

I never asked for this
I never asked for this.
There's also Interaction Bubbles which adds speech bubbles to pawns when they communicate with others. Never used it myself since it looks like it blocks your vision and configuration is only available via RimHUD, which frankly just looks awful. It's there though if you don't want to open your pawn's log all the time.
