Prop Control 1.0.1

Description
A lightweight alternative for Prop Anarchy for those who don't want to (or can't) use Prop Anarchy or Extended Managers Library. Written with an emphasis on stability, to avoid the current issues with Prop Anarchy/Extended Managers Library.

Provides the following functionality:
  • Prop anarchy: disable collision checking for props
  • Prop snapping: raise or lower props to custom heights, and attach them to buildings (as you can in the asset editor)
  • Prop precision: stores detailed prop position information for precise alignment of props (the unmodded game has a limited prop position resolution, e.g. making fences impossible to line up correctly)
  • Prop scaling: change the size of props
  • Decal prop fix: correctly display large (above 8m x 8m) decals and enable decal texture tiling (required for some custom decals to display correctly)
  • Adaptive prop visibility distance: customize the visibility ranges of props, including dynamic calculations to permit larger props to be visible for longer distances (disabled by default - see under 'Use' below).

Use with Line Tool for prop line tool functionality.

Change prop colors with Prop Painter Revisited.

Select your props the normal way: either with the in-game prop tool (under Paks and Plazas), or (much better) using Find It 2.

Now includes Move It! integration to change the scaling and elevation of existing props.

Does not include Additive Shader; For Additive Shader functionality, use Visibility Control.

Incompatible mods

This mod will automatically load any savegame data stored by the above mods, except for Extended Managers Library/Prop Anarchy; for those two mods, a new "Remove EML" mod will soon be released to convert their data to Prop Control format.

Use

See the mod's options panel for the available options. Most of this mod's functionality doesn't need options.

The default key to toggle prop anarchy is Ctrl-P. Text will display towards the bottom-left of the screen indicating the current status (on or off) of prop anarchy.

Adaptive prop visibility distance (which extends the visibility distance for props based on their size) is DISABLED by default from mod version 0.9.3 onwards, as it does have a performance impact (because you're rendering more props, obviously). It can be activated in the mod's options panel.

Meta
This mod uses Harmony[github.com] version 2.2 by Andreas Pardeike via the Cities Harmony mod by boformer.

Saves additional prop data in the savefile (obviously), but doesn't alter any savefile structure, and can be safely removed at any time (obviously, any prop precision or snapping placements will be reset to game defaults if you do this).

Safe for editor use - will automatically (harmlessly) disable itself in any editor other than the map editor.

@Solafare Not reliably, no. The best way is to use Procedural Objects instead of props (via the Procedural Objects mod).

Is there a way to disable the prop limit? I'm having the issue of older props dissapearing whenever I place new ones.

@KyL1nyu_ Check the mod's options panel for settings - especially those that reset the prop to the ground.

Hi author, I want to ask a question, why I put a prop on the right height and after I snapped it, it got back to the original height (which is not accurate). Could you please tell me how can I adjust it?

@yanlee985 Via prop scaling, yes.

Can you scale the decals in this mod?

@chabiytb0792 Korean now added. Thanks in advance for your translation help!

This is a very good mod, but I have a request. Please create a Korean translation page for Crowdin. All control mods support Korean, but the prop control does not have a Crowdin page, so a Korean translation is not possible.

Thanks for the quick reply :)

I've found a pattern that might help: the crash only happens when I launch the game using Skyve and then click PLAY in the Paradox Launcher, followed by manually loading the save from the main menu. However, when I use the RESUME button in the Paradox Launcher to load the same save, it loads successfully without crashing. I tested each method three times and got consistent results.

I've also verified the game files via Steam, and no issues were found. Additionally, I tried loading a test city with only this mod, Harmony, and LSM, and it worked completely fine.

Regarding the problematic mods, you're right — some of them are flagged by Skyve. While a few of them currently have no proper alternatives, but I'll try replacing what I can. If the issue persists, I’ll get back to you with more details.

I'm a big fan of your mods, and I really appreciate all your hard work and support :)

@lacoste Your log is showing that the game is in an invalid state at that point. Have you verified your local files with Steam? If so, please start a new test city with only this mod, Harmony, and Loading Screen Mod installed, and post the log from that showing the crash.

I also note that you are using several mods that have known issues. I recommend that you use Skyve to check your mod list and identify those mods so that you can remove them.
