It's 3am. My eyelids are heavy. I've just spent hours running from project to project, yelling at my neighbors in Discord, telling bad jokes, and trying to keep my finances from imploding.

Someone bought all of a resource I forgot I was selling, so I could no longer make another thing I needed. I'm not sure how I feel about this. 4 projects suddenly stopped elsewhere. I barely remember why I started them. My throat is dry.

I continue running from table to table, to crate, to workbench, shifting materials and queuing jobs. Someone needs a thing I make - I don't recall how to make it. Someone put a charred pineapple in my letterbox.

I forget what I'm doing and run through the hills towards a shop, wheeling a cart, until I remember what I need and run back. I didn't eat enough, so I walk most of the way. My cart falls down a hill.

Meanwhile, a goat is stuck in my stockpile. My neck is stiff. More bad jokes ensue.

Several of us discuss the economy, thinking up strategies for improving the state of things. Someone requests a truck for the third time. We cannot make trucks yet. We all want a truck, dude. We ALL do.

I am multitasking like some sort of ungodly material conversion machine. Numbers are flying around my head as I attempt to figure out pricing for some random thing I forgot to properly list. I am doing fractions and I cannot believe I'm doing this for fun.

I look out the window - the river looks a little more polluted today. I notice that I crave raw meat.

Eco is a game about people attempting to just get along while hoarding huckleberry pies and wishing for faster trucks, and possibly doing so for 10 hours a day. Eco is about losing sleep to build your dream home, but running out of materials halfway through because you're bad at math, and the logger next door has randomly decided to be a cook instead (they are somehow more successful than you). Eco is about forming a fully fledged government so that you can manage a desert amusement park and challenge your neighbors to platforming challenges and obstacle-filled low-speed races. Eco is about starving in the woods as you sneakily chop down your neighbor's trees, because you really need that softwood accent wall in your new home, and you didn't quite sell all of your tomatoes yesterday, and you won't eat them because they taste "horrible", so you can't afford to buy the lumber, and you'd rather starve than eat that crap, and...

Eco is... like nothing else out there, really.
Eco is also a job you do for fun.
Read up before you play, join a high cooperation server, interact with fellow weirdos, don't be greedy, ask many questions, bake 1 million pies, fail together, and enjoy. Is that meteor getting closer?

PROS:

- Your body is immortal and animals cannot hurt you
- You can interact with real humans in a cooperative setting
- The graphics range from okay to surprisingly pretty
- The simulation is rich and facilitates emergent gameplay

CONS:

- Animals will scream at you relentlessly, effectively killing your spirit
- You must interact with real humans in a cooperative setting
- The game runs surprisingly poorly at times
- The simulation seemingly exists to torment you, and also your neighbor is better than you
