Golden Games
Every once in awhile a game will come out that just blows away the audiences. Yet, most modern gamers (excluding those that only play phone apps, or Call of Duty) argue over what makes a game a true treasure/gem/crowning achievement. Some argue that beautiful graphics make the world more immersive, thus a better experience. Others argue that innovative gameplay makes a great game. The same can be said for music, story, and every other aspect of video games.

Yet, very few games truly hit the mark that older games did. Take Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2. While the games didn't have the best graphics, they were top line when the games first came out. Both created an idea that heroes aren't the best, and that being a villian every now and then is a good thing. Even the stories focused on your rise to power, and domination of that world. Those games were ahead of their time, and we don't see games of that quality anymore. Sure there have been attempts like Dungeons, Impire, War of the Overlords, but none of them truly hit that same level of excellence. And the reason why they don't is because their using the exact same formula that Dungeon Keeper used. Sure they each add their own wit and humor to the genre, but they don't create that brillient level of innovation that was there with Dungeon Keeper.

I'm not say those are bad games, well maybe Impire, but the rest are decent. Their great at remind people that not every story needs a hero. And at least they aren't EA's Dungeon Keeper for the phone. That was just an insult to a great treasure. But that's just EA being EA. After all, "It's Good to be Bad."
Review Showcase
Dragon's Dogma is a fantastic game. Your character isn't set to one play style, being able to change classes at just about every town. You originally start with 3 base classes, covering the standard archtypes of warrior, mage, and archer. These each have their own playstyle, focusing on either ranged or melee combat. Yet each of these classes can be mixed with another when you pick an advanced class. These are things like Mystic Knight or Assassin. Of course you can also just choose to upgrade your current class into an advanced form. A Mage can become a Sorcerer, or a Fighter to a Warrior.

But you aren't in this alone. You create not just your own character, but a pawn as well. A pawn's class is set when created, but you can have up to 3 pawns with you at a time. Have friends that play this? Well you can summon their pawns to your world to help you out. Create a merry band of warriors to fight back massive beast and creatures of the night.

Climb up the back of a cyclops or hydra. Climbing has many uses in combat, and this game gets some great moments from climbing atop different monsters.

This version of the game has a neat dlc dungeon that is way harder than the base game, and will really be a challenge to most players. I highly recommend that you try it out once you've beaten the base game. Of course, you can just enter New Game +, keeping your gear and levels. New Game + adds more challenges, and gives you a better chance to do storylines that you missed previously.

An important note is that you CAN FAIL QUEST by not doing them in a timely manner. Certain quest are time sensitive, and require you to go to areas you might not be leveled for. These usually lead to how your ending will occur. Completing certain quest will raise your affinity with other npcs, which will change your ending. Theres a total of 3 or so endings involving different people you meet.

All in all, I highly recommend Dragon's Dogma. It's a fun game with a ton of replayablility. In total, between the PS3, Steam, and PS4 release I've put in well over 80 hours.

This is a guide showing how to make the small windows I used in my tavern which I orginally got from a snapshot from the devs.
