First of all - this is a very niche perspective I have so I totally recommend it for anyone curious out there.

Now, the game itself ain't bad, it has some fairly good writing and by now The Witcher is a far cry from being a niche game series anymore. However, just as time changed the game series, it also changed my perspective on it. The overall Saga of Geralt is just amazing and I do recommend checking out the previous titles to anyone who likes this game for story reasons.

However, nowadays, a game needs a tad bit more than good story writing to keep me playing for a very long time. Gameplay. Here's where the subjectivity of my Review comes in. I still do see myself playing this game eventually but not as much as other games of its genre. The combat system is hot garbage. Like the basic thought of it - genius. I like it. They looked at Dark Souls and wanted to make something similar, Witcher style.
Problem is when Geralt's doing pirouettes like a ballerina with his sword, you got input lag until the hit actually connects. You may say that this is a skill issue, as you can predict the delay, however - input delay is still input delay and it really isn't good in any combat mechanic.

And yes. That is my one and only point that makes the game so unenjoyable for me that I cannot recommend it personally. It sucks the fun out of the game for me as it feels clunky, sloppy and generally just weird to fight when my character moves like I'm playing Dance Dance Revolution. Now you know that this is not something new to me, as you've probably read that I've played the other titles aswell. *Their* combat system however wasn't focussed on real time action inputs like in Wild Hunt.

NOW DO KEEP IN MIND
The Input Lag I'm talking about isn't actual input lag by definition, it's raw input lag by Geralts movements. It's him having to finish his pirouettes before the hit connects that creates the "input lag" not actual input lag. So it's input lag BY DESIGN that makes me frustrated about this game, not actual input lag that is caused by bugs or other issues
