Maybe it's a dream; maybe nothing else is real..
But it wouldn't mean a thing if I told you how I feel..
If I opened up my eyes there'd be no more going back..
'Cause I'd throw it all away, and it all would fade to black..

Skyward Ataraxia __φ(..)

An endless blue sky filled with so much despair,
Where sparkles of hope feel like fresh breaths of air..
Drowning in the music that keeps us going and strong,
An echoing chamber with different shades of the same song..
The winds of time that carries all of our troubles away..
How beautiful this endless blue sky, that leads us astray..

Ship happens to the best of us, we can't always stay afloat.
Just try and seas the day and get yourself back into that boat.
So whenever you feel like you're sinking and drowning in pain..

My Reviews Summarized
Little info section here in regards to any games I may or have written a review for.

I do not write reviews professionally, it's a mood thing that comes and goes and like most things in life, anything written online should be taken with a grain of salt; be it by me or anyone else. There are countless of games I love and adore and a handful of ones that I loathe or feel indifferent towards, but I rarely have the time and energy to write my elaborate praise or discredit for each and everyone of them. And if I do, they may be subject to just being surface-level opinions instead of deep-diving analyses. That being said, they're always subjective to my own personal bias and at best advisory tales.

Heart Ratings

In the light of trying out a new heart-based rating system to 'structurally' tier my reviews and enjoyment of a game (retroactively over time) here's a brief rundown of how I'll use them.

🖤 Black Heart
An uncommon if not rare rating I would only give to games that are a definite "avoid-at-all-cost" for which usually I wouldn't bother writing a review for, unless it is to warn others.

🤎 Turd Heart
For crappy games that have a butt-load of slop or other kinds of doo-doo. These games will generally by considered so bad that I wouldn't even call them guilty pleasures.

💔 Red/Broken Heart
Games that may look good on the outside but turn out to be disappointing instead, be it from game-breaking bugs and mechanics to malpractices or lack of dev support.

🧡Orange Heart
Games of a certain quality that I would deem below average. They're playable but just don't quite hit that sweet spot of balancing things out. Possible guilty pleasures but with a hint of caution.

💛Neutral Yellow Heart
The middle and neutral point of ratings for games that are either well-balanced or solid by specific genre or any other standard.

💚Green Heart
Sitting above the neutral yellow, these games I would consider good because they have that little extra knack that makes them stand out from your average game.

💙Blue Heart
This may become the standard quality that would drive me to write a review in the first place. For games that I like and enjoy playing and am hopeful for seeing more of, which may just be the reason for writing it.

💜Purple Heart
Outstanding; for games that are so enjoyable and/or good that I doubt I have enough space to write and share what I want about it.

🤍Angelic Heart
For masterpieces in gaming excellence. I don't see myself giving out this rating lightly so for a game to achieve this level of worth means I would drain my bank account to support it wholeheartedly.

Closing..

That should wrap up the tiers of rating for the most part, bearing in mind that it's all still subjective to personal perspective. Lastly just a reminder that if I haven't reviewed a game it doesn't mean that I don't like it or hate it. It just means that I didn't have the time/energy/mood to do so (yet) or because I may think it doesn't need my two cents. :NekoChiyoko:

"Gunwaifu Simulator ~ Vector is Life; Vector is Wife."

Foreword

Even though it took a while for the game to be released here, I'm already glad it's on Steam which is more than I can say about other certain gacha games. Not too much of an issue if like me, you started playing through their own launcher; but I can imagine this would be a huge downside if not dealbreaker factoring in "FOMO" (Fear of Missing Out) for people who have been waiting for Steam since it got first announced. Personally I've grown a rule of thumb to always start these games at the earliest possible time.. as long as it does have a stand-alone PC client/launcher. Better to know your stance on it sooner than later and if nothing else and it's worth picking up at a later time, you'd reap some probably early bird rewards.

Either way, I would still recommend the game to anyone who doesn't shy away from the Gacha scene, as I've been having a good time with it since it's release. I play my fair share of Gacha games; from the most dubious and blatant clones to the niche or mainstream and high-profile titles, and out of the bunch there are not that many that actually stay with me to either earn my daily loyalty or at least present a long-term impression.

Of course there's always the honeymoon period where games like this may seem better cause it provides a new change of scene or something different, but I think even with that in mind; these games tend be highly subjective; more-so than 'regular games' where it may be easier to tell based solely on their genre. But with that said and assuming people who read this are already familiar with the scene, I will skip the semantics of rambling about the game and just list down the features of what it has to offer, and people can decide for themselves if they think it's a pro, con or neutral.

Features

🔆 Following and building on the existent storyline of it's predecessor years later. It still is generally understandable but may be subjective whether you need the 'insight' from the first game. There is a plethora of lore and info dump for those that care though.

🔆 Combat system highly reminiscent of the X-Com franchise, though simplified to be more forgiving with less emphasis on hardcore tact (e.g. no %-based hitrates), offering the feature to rewind, fully automate, and even sweep/skip for rewards on getting full star rating.

🔆 Quality 3D models with jiggly assets, idle poses and interactive animations.

🔆 A dorm system that is still somewhat bare-bones and mostly just for gooning interacting, gift/affection system and as a gallery for viewing poses where you can adjust and position the camera in certain ways before plastering it as your new lobby/main menu screen, you filthy perv~

🔆 Affection levels give slight stat upgrades, cosmetic rewards and allow for covenant (aka putting a ring on it but not to be confused with 'marriage' and more like an eternal friendship.. with benefits.. probably).

🔆 Weapons can be installed with mods which are mostly just for stats and set bonuses, but do change the visual appearance and allow for skin/transmog applications.

🔆 Guild system which so far is mostly a collective PvE effort for extra rewards.

🔆 Most content allow for a support character from your friends or guild without usage limit, which can fully carry newcomers if they befriend a max level Commander and/or whale.

🔆 Battlepass is to be expected nowadays and Exilium offers one that indefinitely keeps giving small rewards after maxing out.

🔆 PVP is present but feels casual for the most part and even it's 'competitive' scene doesn't feature any real-time/live opponents.

🔆 Dailies can be done within several minutes and doesn't feel as laborious like other gacha due to sweep and auto options.

🔆 If on Haoplay; servers unfortunately are separated in 4 regions (Global, Asia, JP, KR).

On the topic of servers for existing players, it should be noted that due to regional differences, Steam may assign a different version of the game and I would need confirmation if this could be worked around with regional settings for the install. As well as to be sure before entering the game to click on the 'globe' icon on the login screen to check if the region/server there is properly set as well, as it defaulted me to Asia for some reason when I'm not.

Conclusion

In closing I will say that the general atmosphere of the game and the dev team(s) have been a positive one. The F2P economy seems to be fine and generous enough though admittedly I can't fully state that having a personal stake of 'funds' in the early game. Meta characters and tier lists is a given in any game, but for this game a good team composition with what you readily get available, does already go a long way. And if in doubt, call in your resident whale for their support characters.

Out of all the gacha games currently available on Steam, I'd definitely put this one high up if not at the top. Even considering the absence of Hoyoverse on Steam, I'd still prefer Exilium in being more accessible and easier to maintain on a daily basis.

"Makes you want to become a Private Dorm Manager yourself~"

Let's face it, there's so many NSFW games at this point that they sometimes get easily hobbled up as just being glorified picture and animation galleries with substandard game-play. Which makes me say it's all the more pressing to point out the ones that are actually good; hence this review.

Point & Flick RPG/SLG

I can't put my finger on the exact term, but it plays a lot like the point & click games of old where you progress by looking for clues in the form of keywords, phrases or pictures that help you progress through the story. I would say the clues were reasonably easy to understand and figure out what to do or try next, but it can definitely be subject to personal experience for people with different mindsets when it comes to puzzle-solving/thinking.

Visuals and Overall Feel

Both the CG as well as the pixel art and animations are very well done and arguably some of the best among the plethora of eroge I've seen and played through. Movement, transitions and interactions all feel smooth and polished without much if any clunkiness. Overall, it's a great quality experience for it's genre.

Nitty Titty Gritty

For the most part you'll be wandering around finding things and people you can interact with and look for clickable parts or keywords and phrases that are often highlighted in blue. Either clicking them or automatically (if it's in a conversation) will add them to your log where you can look them up for reminders and/or to figure the next step; which can be as simple as looking up the keyword on the in-game search engine on your PC or doing something at certain times of the day or locations. There is no time limit like in typical dating sims so you can spend as much or as little time as you want to finish everything without worry. So even skipping full days of work has no negative bearing on your progress.

Days are divided in 4 part: morning, afternoon, night and late night; and each part only transitions to the next after performing a chore for money, resting on your bed or just simply pressing the 'next period' button. Other than that, there's only a few very specific interactions that also advance the time.

There's no need for saving and loading whatsoever and even after a 'game-over' it just loads right back into the same day whilst often even retaining the items/actions you performed before the trigger. I have spent a lot of time just grinding through the chores and hoarding money in the beginning to feel I'm being optimal, but even this in hindsight was quite unnecessary in the end if you're thinking of 100% completing the game. Cause in the late/endgame getting money is just as simple and carefree as the significance of the time of day.

Story and Setting

Probably the biggest determining factor for the less degenerate among us. And I think the game's name is already a good implication of what you can expect. From it's voyeuristic name to it's vulgar dialogues and choice of words it's truly not a game for the faint-hearted. Though I personally question how small that number must be among this fine culture of players. And yes it does feature scenes and themes of NTR though bear in mind you are playing as the big bad perverse chad protagonist that doesn't give a rat's ass cause he ascertains total domination and control. What a deviant~
So be warned or enjoy the ride.

Conclusion

A big fat yes for any and all degenerates/gentlemen alike. A big fat "ask yourself if you're in the right place" if you can't stomach it's depraved and vulgar setting. Nevertheless, it is truly a BANG for your cucks bucks.
