Having originally purchased and played this game on release for the Playstation 4, I wanted to try the PC version to see how it would run and play and I have to say I was blown away with how smooth and fantastically optimised this game is for a console port.

That being said if you are new to Metal Gear this game is a great start to the gameplay mechanics and the vast movie quality written story of the franchise I'd highly recommend going back to the previous games if you truly want to be invested within it.

LIKED

Freedom of Choice
With how open the world is you have a variety of ways you can complete objectives, whether you want to silently knock out and extract soldiers and resources using stealth camo or kit yourself out with heavy armour/weapons and go in guns blazing the choice is yours.

You can restock your ammo/suppressors/fulton supply or if you feel the need for a change of tactics swap out your gear completely with the supply drops.

Interrogation
You can slowly creep up on soldiers and by either grabbing or aiming at them, you can choose to interrogate, kill, or just knock them out. If you choose to interrogate them, you’re granted useful information about the current area. Locations of hidden resources, diamonds or even high value targets.

Cassette Tapes
Throughout the game you can acquire various cassette tapes with can provide hours of interesting story / dialogue from within the Metal Gear universe as well as a fantastic soundtrack collection with the addition of custom track support.


DISLIKED

Cover System
There’s no key to enter into cover against walls or boxes, it’s a dynamic system that’s at times unreliable

Cheaters in FOB Mode
The FOB stuff never really interested me personally, but cheaters either way should be dealt so I really hope Konami does something about this.

Repetitive Side Missions
They all can be done a bunch of times in different locations and gets slightly harder each time.


Do I recommend the game? Hell yeah, it is amazing!
