"To whoever's miserable in their lives. To whoever's not reaching their goals, to whoever's not feeling happy about themselves or their lives.

What's hope?

A mythical abstract thing that gets you nowhere? A broken promise you follow only to end up being betrayed? A Path to the light?

Hope is the willingness to fight. To stand. To act. Never underestimate your will to live when you're in the middle of despair. Anyone can survive. Anyone can move forward with enough strength in them to smile at the future.

They just need a path. If you're not feeling happy, find a path to happiness and, no matter how stupid it seems, seek it. Plan A, B and C might not work, but plan X might. No matter what you do, the minute you give up and give in, it's all over.

If you want to cry, then cry. Let it out, let out your misery, unleash it all on yourself. Then look at it, and smile. Sometimes we have to mourn, but after you're comfortable enough to stand, it'll be time to shine.

The courage to move forward, the strength to keep on living, the willingness to achieve more and do your best. It's all words. But the minute you say those words to yourself, then you'll be able to do anything."

This game has given me a new appreciation for magical girl media, as despite all its flaws, I do think I really like this game, and will be playing the second one.

After watching the anime, I realized that this series is a lot more than what it seemed like at first glance, so I would really really really recommend diving into it if you enjoy magical girls.

The sidequests are extremely basic and very repetitive, but I didn’t really get tired of them, since the game is fairly short. My biggest gripe with this game is that the male gaze is prevalent in almost every aspect of this game to a rather disturbing and distracting extent. Between the incredibly stupid DLCs and the gratuitous “fanservice”, I found myself always wondering, was this really necessary?

Despite all this, the game itself is rather harmless and cute, with fun and likeable characters, although they are pretty one-dimensional. The music in this game is absolutely incredible and the story is surprisingly pretty decent even though the story’s twists and turns are mostly back-loaded, that’s not necessarily a problem if you enjoy the everyday school life theme, and you really do come to care for the characters.

The combat can be fun at times, though it is not very challenging, there is virtually no enemy variety and you will never be killed in combat. The only way to gauge which skills are supposed to be better than others is their MP cost, however, the fragments system makes trying out new combinations for different skills pretty fun.
The menus are very pretty and serve their purpose well, although sometimes the wording of some things is inconsistent, and throughout the whole game there are quite a few typos and some skills with nonsensical descriptions.

Overall, it’s a sweet albeit predictable story with a great soundtrack, a likeable cast, a decent combat system and a nice message. The game runs well, looks good, and doesn’t feel like a chore to play.
