The DMC-12 Is The Only Car Produced By The Company
The DeLorean Motor Company has put into production only 1 vehicle - this one. It came out with a 2.7-liter V6 engine and could accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in 8.8 seconds. Soon after the release of the car, the DMC went bankrupt. The good news is that maybe soon, the new stainless steel DMC-12s will be produced. Actually, this was already planned a couple of times, but those plans screeched to a halt. Until then, we can only guess how the vehicle will look like.

There Are Only 6,000 DeLoreans In The World
The car enthusiasts worship every of the DeLoreans that still exist. There is a limited number of these cars - 6,000. Six of them were used during the Back To The Future film production, but only three are known to survive these days.From the beginning, the demand for these cars was skyrocketing. The company noticed it and aimed to make at least 20,000 of the DMCs annually. However, because of the vehicle's poor performance, the people's enthusiasm began to fade away.

There Are Gold-Plated Car Versions
The idea to make gold-plated DeLoreans was conceived by American Express for promotional purposes. They planned to modify 100 cars. But only three golden versions were created - two of those were successfully sold for $85,000, and the third was made with spare parts. There also is one more gold DMC-12 - Micheal Feldman's. After he heard about the gold-plated versions of the car, he decided to do it on his own. It was a good choice since the whole procedure of making the car golden cost around $8,000.

Something Else Should Have Been Used For Time Traveling
Despite how weird it may seem, originally, a refrigerator was supposed to be used as a means for time traveling. Of course, there were some other options, such as a laser device, which still doesn't sound nearly as cool as a car.After doing some thorough thinking, the film producers chose to settle on a car. However, the DMC-12 wasn't their primary choice. Only after some brainstorming, they decided that this car is exactly the one that could've belonged to Doc Brown.
