Favourite games

This is a next to impossible question since I have played literally thousands of games over the last 30 years. Though if my arm were twisted, I were being tortured and had to rattle off at least 1 game, Legend of Zelda the original would be my favorite. I have a lot of fond memories of that game.
Now if we want to get into genre's, RPG's are by far some of my favorite types of games to play. I like First Person RPG's the most, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Fallout being among some of my favorite series to play. Though I do enjoy a wide range of other games as well, with the exception of MOBA's, sorry I just can't get into them. In the last few years, Horizon Zero Dawn has become one of my all time favorite games, due mainly to the story. I've played this game on several different platforms and have thoroughly enjoyed it each time.

No Man's Sky, is a procedurally generated, infinitely diverse, survival/exploration game where you travel from planet to planet, collecting resources, upgrading ships and equipment, and engaging in combat with local wildlife, drones, or ships as you so desire. It has elements similar to Minecraft and Elite Dangerous, making it a very fun, quickly addictive game, but leaving things open enough for the player to make their own destiny.

Visually, No Man's Sky looks great. I wasn't expecting the level of detail or quality from an indie game. It does not feel like an indie title and I feel it lives up to much of the hype, which is rare these days. I am interested to see whether or not they decide to come out with new content, such as multiplayer or online mode, new ships, more quests or some other type of fun content. I think the possibilities are open for so much more.

With all that being said, I can see where story-driven players may find the game a little boring, but I would urge even the most hardcore of story-driven players to give this game a chance if you like exploration, open-world play, or survival games. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I have a feeling I will be enjoying this game for a long-time to come and hope if you are playing or are thinking of trying it out, you do as well.

Mass Effect 2 was the first game in the Mass Effect Universe I ever played. Perhaps as a result of this, it is also my favorite in the entire series. Without spoiling anything for anyone who has yet to play the series, I won't talk about 1 or 3, neither will I discuss the plot, other than to say it is epic, amazing, and drew me in the way Millions were drawn in by Harry Potter.

With that little disclaimer out of the way, Mass Effect 2 follows the story of Mass Effect 1, including whatever choices you made, as the consequences are felt while playing Mass Effect 2. If you did not import a save from 1, don't be afraid, you will get some of the backstory anyway. The playstyle, reminds me a lot of Knights of the Republic series in some ways, as you can slot weapons with upgrades, have various types of weapons to choose from, and so forth. Leveling up works in much the same way.

Visually speaking, I think the graphics are excellent with Mass Effect 2, though I played it on the PS3 and not the PC yet, so I am unfamiliar with any graphical differences. As you progress through the story you acquire new members to your crew who can be chosen to form your team when landing on planets or going on missions. You are able to explore the galaxy using Mass Effect gates, and can go to individual planets within star systems, as well as moons, ship-wrecks and more. There are hundreds of side quests to do, as well as personal quest chains for each companion you acquire. Your ship, the Normandy can also be upgraded with the resources you acquire. These upgrades are not mandatory, but remember, every choice you make impacts the story in the end.

In all, I would say Mass Effect 2 is a fantastic game and should be a part of anyone's library who loves First person, story driven, sandbox universe action. I highly, highly recommend playing the series in order from the first Mass Effect, so that you can have a story carried over through the end of the series based on the decisions you make. This will enhance your immersion in the game and is worth the cost of buying all three. I hope you enjoy this game as much as I have.

Thank you for visiting my profile. I've been an avid gamer my entire life. Starting when I was a toddler and could first work the joystick of an Atari 2600, to the present day, I have enjoyed games of all genre's. I find excitement in discovering new bugs, easter eggs, and collecting rare achievements. I write reviews, and follow the latest news about games and gaming. I appreciate the time you took to check out my profile and who knows... maybe we'll end up in a group in a game some day and have a lot of fun!
