Politically, Martha Raye was conservative, affirming her political views by informing an interviewer, "I am a Republican because I believe in the constitution, strength in national defense, limited government, individual freedom, and personal responsibility as the concrete foundation for American government. They reinforce the resolve that the United States is the greatest country in the world and we can all be eternally grateful to our founding fathers for the beautiful legacy they left us today." Martha Raye was the fifth person to be awarded Honorary Green Beret. While in Vietnam she would assist those in combat hospitals instead of performing because she was a LPN.

KAG!!!! Keep America Great!! Trump in 2020! Four more years!
My Blues finally won the cup! I myself was born just a few months after the Blues played their first NHL game in October of '67. I grew up in Sioux City, IA, not a big hockey hot bed back then, and had a few other stops along the way when I was young since my dad was in the Air Force, including St.Louis. Now I remember seeing hockey on tv a little bit in the mid '70's when NBC showed a game of the week on Saturday afternoons, but I really didn't get the hockey bug until we got cable in 1979, when I was 11. I didn't know much about hockey then, but I watched some games and seen the Blues play one day and it was love at first sight!
I was already a long time St Louis Cardinal fan, so being a Blues fan just "fit". Brian Sutter, Bernie Federko, Joey Mullen, Mike Liut, Blake Dunlop, Jorgen Pettersson, Wayne Babych, Larry Patey and Perry Turnbull would be some of my favortites the next few years. A good season here and there would happen in the coming '80's along with a lot of tough fought seasons too. The team missing a full draft and nearly leaving St. Louis to maybe go to Saskatoon!!! OH NO!!!
The Blues even had a 25 year streak (1980-2004) of making the playoffs (I think the third longest streak in North American sports history) but could seldom make it out of the 2nd round. In fact they did it only 3 or 4 times since I have been watching them! So many great players passed through St. Louis only to watch them leave and have so many of them win cups with other teams!
So, now I sit here remembering while I was living on an Indian Reservation in northern Nebraska in the '80's with no way to watch hockey, grabbing my radio and trying to get it balanced just the right way to pull in KMOX to listen to the radio broadcasts, to now when I can watch games on my phone if I wanted, it's been a DAMN long wait! And at last I get to celebrate a Stanley Cup!!!
