The Binding of Isaac started out as a flash game in 2011. Created by the man, myth, and legend of the disgustingly creative mind of Edmund McMillen. I only got into Isaac recently following the release of Repentance in March, just because it looked interesting to me from watching a streamer that I follow. Thanks to pokelawls, I was instantly hooked into the the world of Isaac. Now, may you keep in mind that I always knew the existence of this game, and I actually considered getting afterbirth+ for the switch when I got one back in 2018 but I did't go through with it. I feel that this was the perfect time to get into the game since Repentance introduced a cornucopia of new items, reskins, bosses, etc. Never had I been so intrigued and excited to dive into a new game before! On a funny note, when I first started, I had no clue that there was even content beyond killing Mom (in depths 2) lol. Beginning to feel overwhelmed from all the unlockables post Mom I started researching tips and tricks to fully understand the game. I would progressively learn about tinted rocks, secrets rooms, devil deals, angel rooms, alt floors, planetarium chances, alternate boss paths, and so much more... There was just so much to unpack! 637 achievements in total, 34 characters, over 716+ items and consumables, 102 bosses, 25 areas/floors, 196 different enemies AND Steam Workshop Mod support!!! This is literally the most bang for buck you can get on all of Steam. You will have to legitimately dedicate hundreds upon hundreds of hours to 100% this game if that is your interest (Which is the only true way to beat the game). Now, to talk about the difficulty. There is loads of controller breaking moments you will face, and I really mean it. If you have played one of Edmund's older projects, Super Meat Boy, you will get about the same rage or more when playing this game and that is why the whole meat and potatoes of this game is to build your loadout of decent-OP items. There will be a lot of runs where you get absolute garbage, meh items and the best runs which happen to be when you stack OP items. That is why I cannot express how much fun and satisfying it feels when you get amazing items on top of more amazing items, then getting to absolutely melt enemies and annoying bosses within seconds. It's such a great feeling I don't any other game has provided to me. Also, it is extremely hard to call this game lazy even though there is a few things that bother me about the design of the game that are likely unfixable, to name one is the FPS lock at 60, yes, I know it's a really minor gripe but I would like to atleast play at 144hz to fully harness the simple but, beautiful sprite art. Anyways, this game also happens to encourage me to start create mods on the workshop! I made my first ever (with effort) mod into the game and I plan to make so many more! Another thing I love about this game is the community. The very thing that makes this game thrive and feel so alive (For it being a 7 year old game). This community is so filled with memes and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (I love it). I always check the workshop daily to see if another amazing mod has been uploaded for me to play with! I always said that being able to mod games increases the livelyhood and replay value of games by 1000%. Having countless useful convenience mods and meme mods so easily accessible is just so great! It's been a while since I found a game that I can fully dedicate to on a consistent basis. It will be quite difficult to top a game like this (unless a sequel is made) on my list atleast. Of course, only having unlocked all tainted characters and 2 fully completed characters, I plan on completing the game and putting in for what will hopefully be hundreds of more hours. Edmund McMillen, you creative fricker, I will not become back my money anytime soon. I cannot wait for your future projects! Thank You.

One thing to keep in mind before you even think about getting this game, you will never have fun, it's only suffering. When you join a server (that's if you found one without an hour queue) you start off with a rock to harvest wood and stone and possibly fend off other nakeds around your spawn but, 85% of the time there is just major sweats ready to drink your tears of pain. OK, so let's just say you manage to get past spawn and actually get to start *"having fun"* you are still at risk of dying to players, animals, starvation, and radiation poisoning. If you somehow juggle all these at once, you are ready to build a *proper* base and start scavenging to find materials like wood, stone, and metal for your base which BTW you need to sacrifice your own materials to keep it up without deteriorating during offline hours, but don't worry sweats and even a random naked can possibly make all your progress disappear overnight! Now, with almost 50 hours, I have only ever felt powerful. Recently, I was in a server where I found a group of 3 heavily armored people with guns galore and a bunch of materials that incredibly boosted my survival rate. The thing is, I didn't feel like I was having any fun, I was in the highest point I have ever been in this game and you would figure I would have some type of satisfaction, right? You are wrong, of course I am usually a very optimistic person, but this game will bring out the worse version of you. I have felt nothing but pain and agony in this game just trying to get by. The longest I have ever lived in a server is 3 irl days, and that is really sad. I guess you can say this game is better with friends, but at the same time it's either you have a rust sweat as a friend, or it's 2x as hard. Which brings me to my final points: Do not get this game. The community is really toxic and sweaty. You will constantly see yourself dying many many times over and over again whether you are with friends or not. The fact that the whole basis of the game is brutal makes it tedious and hard to have fun. I personally do not recommend this game to anyone that is suicidal or is not mentally stable. I say with all seriousness, this game will ruin you unless you don't take it seriously. I almost forgot to bring up the fact that it is over-priced as well, 40 dollars for an un-optimized game? Rust cannot even compare to games like Minecraft, Subnautica, and hell even The Forest at this price point, and these game are less than 30 dollars! The aesthetic for this game isn't even good. I constantly see bugs in the textures and that should not be excused especially after 5 years of it's release. I originally bought Rust for $8 on sale during the 2019 Summer Sale and I tell you, still not even worth a penny. Do not under any circumstance purchase this game unless you want to milk it for 2 hours before refunding it. Thank you for reading my whole review and thank you FacePunch for publishing such a bad game that it got me to write my longest review yet.
