Welcome to the Dev blog. I've finished writing the Class Skills & Role Guide but may muse some thoughts and answer questions on here from time to time.

Recent thoughts:

- New Damage Record! Raja with 71 dmg via Uranium Slug, Talon Round, Arashi combo.
- CLOSE RANGE?!
- Banish Medic hits for 54... FIFTY-FOUR
- Pistol Rocket Launcher Medic. Bradford, are we absolutely sure about this?

- The Weapon Expert Cannon Toting Hactivist should never have existed.
- I have now played the first Guerilla Op mission so many times during testing, I can recite Bradford & Tygan's lines word perfect.
- "Although they bear some resemblance to the Sectoids first encountered..."
- I fear that Chancellor Geist may be a Sith Lord...

Supported 3rd Party Mods

Bitterfrost Protocol and Immolator:
Cryolator & Immolator: available to Demo, Hactivist, Inferno and Psionic
Canister secondaries: available to Demo & Inferno only.

Ballistic Shields - available to the Shinobi and the Support.
Iridar Rocket Launcher 2.0 - the Demo (obviously)... and the Support?!

Useful Testing / Cheat Commands

You must enable a setting for the Dev console before you can access it in-game.

To do this manually via Steam settings please see this simple guide.

Alternatively if you use the Community Mod Launcher then you can set this via Options>Settings>Active Arguments.

Once -allowconsole argument is active, press either ' or ~ to bring up the console at any time in-game, even on the main menu.

Additional Console Commands - REQUIREMENTS

Dev console mode must be enabled, see the above post.

You will need to install this mod: WOTC Additional Soldier Console Commands


Refresh Roster Skill Tables

This refunds your skill point selections and updates the skill tree for the ENTIRE ROSTER.

RebuildAllSoldiersClass

Useful after a large update. Enter on the Avenger screen.


Refresh Target Soldier Skill Table

This refunds a single soldiers skill points and updates their skill tree.

RebuildSelectedSoldiersClass

You must have the soldier open in the armory screen before entering.


Change Target Soldier Class

This changes a soldier to a new class whilst retaining their current rank.

RebuildSelectedSoldiersClass <STRING>

CONTENT

Q) Is there going to be a Chimera Spark?
A) No, I use Mechatronic Warfare which does everything I would implement.

Q) Will there be any new content & updates?
A) No - I am totally done with XCOM mod development, bar bug fixes.

Q) Is this related to Chimera Squad in any way?
A) No relation. This mod existed way before Chimera Squad was announced.



COMPATIBILITY

Q) Can I use the original Primary Secondaries instead of TPS Beta?
A) Yes absolutely. Just be aware of the weapon duplication bug.

Q) Will this work with 'X' class mod?
A) Probably not. Please see CPP Framework mod for details.

Q) Does this mod edit vanilla Skirmisher/Templar/Reaper?
A) No, I made Chimera Heroes as an optional standalone mod.

Q) Does this mod edit vanilla GTS Tactics?
A) No, it adds a brand new tactic for each class on standalone code.

Q) Will this work with 'X' Psi mod?
A) Yes - vanilla Psi mechanics are untouched. Amp replacers should also work.



EDITING

Go to this mods install folder:

Q) How do I disable a class? Or re-enable vanilla classes?
A) Open XComClassData.ini in the \Config folder with notepad++[notepad-plus-plus.org], instructions are within the file.

Q) How do I unlock all weapons for all classes?
A) Same method as above, config edit. I really do not recommend it as you will break balance and some abilities.

Q) Can I add 'X' line of code? (Such as new weapon type)
A) Yes, a simple edit to XComClassData.ini always works. Be very careful not to leave empty white space after a designated line end ';' - this may break whole sections of the config.

Q) How do I rename a class?
A) Open XComGame.int in the \Localization folder with notepad++[notepad-plus-plus.org].
Use ctrl+f to find & edit the +DisplayName entry for the target class.
Warning: Do not change any text in bracketed [template] lines, e.g. cc_assault.
These must stay the original name and are not visible in-game.
After this, go to the GTS section starting line 4188. Identify & edit the +DisplayName for the GTS perk for that class.



GAMEPLAY

Q) What happens to the Psi Operative & Psi Lab?
A) The base game Psi Operative & Lab are still there for people who like them or have mods for them.

Q) Why can't I select the Bonus Row perks?
A) You must build a Training Centre first, just like with vanilla.

Q) Is there a console command to change soldier class?
A) Yes, using a specific lightweight command mod. See the post above.

Q) Why does my Shinobi have a 5th row of perks I can scroll down to?
A) You have a mod installed which is adding new abilities to the cross-class AWC pool. Please inform me if you spot this so I can correct it.



CRASHING

Q) Help! My game crashed during mission loading?
A) This (and other) class mods do not touch missions. Normally crashing during mission loading is a bad map pack parcel or a bad mission type mod.

Q) Help! My game crashed on start-up?
A) This is likely a conflict with an item listed on CPP Framework as incompatible (such as LWOTC). Check your subscriptions, clear your user INI cache and verify the game.

Clearing the user INI cache is really important for stability, since it often contains leftover values from old mods you've uninstalled. This is the cause of most crashes in XCOM 2.

It's a simple enough process, documented on the XCOM Community Wiki.
You should clear your INI cache before every new campaign.

Q) Help! My game crashed after using a Chimera ability?
A) This is either a Chimera bug or a mod conflict. Please post in the Bug Thread.

Chimera Classes 1.2 Release

Total Dev time: 52 hrs (FML)

30% trial & error bugfixing / code mashing
30% trying out new abilities / moving tables around
15% drowning in my testing notes
10% formatting release notes
5% release co-ordination
5% artwork / doll dressing
5% load screens

Chimera Classes 1.3 Release

Total Dev time: 18 hrs

50% attempting to make some new perks to replace bugged ones.
5% despair
5% rage and deleting all the work I had done on the new perks.
30% actually balancing & testing
10% agonising over which icons to select from my very limited choices by now.


... Yeah I wasted a lot of my time with this one trying to fix broken perks. :steamfacepalm:

Final Update

I have now retired from XCOM modding - there will be no further official updates.

1864 hrs - that's my closing time played over 4.5 years.
