Prodeus is a hidden gem of an FPS game that completely blew me away. I’ve been playing FPS games practically my entire life. Growing up with DOOM, Quake, Wolfenstein, Half-Life, and other FPS games, Prodeus feels at home next to these legendary titles.

The old-school graphics, level design, and soundtrack are all amazing. It’s incredible to me what Bounding Box Software Inc. achieved here because, above all else, the gameplay is superb. Prodeus is so much fun, with a great arsenal of weapons, replayability, and diversity with enemies, mini-bosses, events, surprises, and more.

As a metalhead, I get a rush once the music hits before a fight happens. Again, the nostalgia I got from playing this made me smile from ear to ear. All the gore, violence, and blood made me feel as if I were back playing a new DOOM game decades ago. It does feel a lot like DOOM but with its own refreshing identity.

All the little things are done perfectly in Prodeus, from the sound effects to the blood effects on the screen and the many unique levels to enjoy in the campaign. The multiplayer also worked fine, as I jumped into a co-op game with someone in another country to test it out and had no issues.

Prodeus is a refreshing FPS title, and even though it’s a “boomer shooter,” it is so much fun. The level of detail in the weapons, gameplay, level design, music, and everything else makes this worth playing immediately if you love FPS games or want that nostalgic rush from those classic 90s FPS games.

I give Prodeus a 5/5 for being an excellent FPS game that checks all the boxes of what you look for in this genre. It has a fantastic variety of weapons, fun gameplay, a bunch of unique monsters to kill, and numerous ways to enhance your weapons and character. I highly recommend this game since it's a short campaign and packs a punch with all the community-created content you can play directly in-game. It was also a classy touch for Bounding Box Software Inc. to create levels in the campaign with pictures of the names and faces and a thank you to all their supporters and backers. This is gaming done right, and I will support this developer in all their future games.
