Loop Hero caught me by surprise, honestly, I bought it at a very low price and had extremely low expectations despite the glowing reviews. I am not a big fan of pixelated graphics and the gameplay loop seemed a bit monotonous, not flashy enough for me.

I was deeply wrong, this is a roguelite masterpiece, it's all about preparation, grinding for resources so you have a better shot at killing every boss on the 4 chapters offered. As you play more and more, you will be able to get better rng on gear, get new cards for map tiles which will greatly increase your stats but there is a subtle strategy layer you have to basically build a painting where some map tiles will combine with others to offer you juiced up stats.

You watch your hero fight tons of monsters (that you can choose which spawn, skeletons, ratwolves,..) and as he fights, you will keep going on new loops, enemies get tougher, the more cards you place the closer the boss gets to spawning and it's a rush to try to get the best gear, best map tiles and best stats to face the boss.

Music is superb and the little story it has it's brilliantly done, I really loved this game and the devs will be on my watchlist for new releases!

A timeless JRPG masterpiece, loads of intricate progression systems, an amazing recreation of several landscapes from Japan but what truly impressed me were it's characters and how they move the story forward.
Deep JRPG with 150hour+ worth of content, none of it felt like filler and was truly superb.
