It's like being lost in an old western like you saw on grandpa's boob tube twenty years ago. The untamed west has a gallant bulwark of doomed knights charging over the hill for all they ever were or had believed in. It's honest and it's sad and it's ugly and it's beautiful. It's a game about cowpokes and shootists. Yee haw indeed.

With TSLRCM, I firmly believe this to be the second best piece of media in the entire franchise - beaten only by The Empire Strikes Back. Even without the mod, when I was on XBOX, it ties with Fallout: New Vegas as my favorite video game of all time, and it has held that top position even before New Vegas pushed its way into that slot some thirteen years ago.

The writing is out of this world, the pacing and atmosphere remind me of some noir films from the seventies, the mechanics and gameplay are fun, the amount of choice and character-building is fantastic, the worlds feel alive, the characters feel alive, you feel alive. These things are especially enhanced when you explore the finer aspects of modding. I recommend against using the mod loaders from Steam and the Nexus, and instead performing installs manually or with the TSL Patcher. For those who are just starting out, use this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/kotor/comments/145qaz7/kotor_1_2_mod_builds_fully_compatible_modular_mod/

It's a broken port that requires twice the bugfixes and performance adjustments/addons as you'll be able to get mods on there, but it's worth it for someone like me who played this game a lot on the 360 in 2009-13 to be able to experience the nostalgia without console limitations. If you get it running and you're careful about what you install (is it compatible with the rest of your mods, what will it do to the performance), then a fully-modded game can bring together a fresh enough experience to lift the stale taste from the vanilla build left in the mouths of veterans and make this game feel somewhat new again. Although it can never quite bring back the wonder of stepping into it for the first time, the magic is there and I suggest you give it a whirl if you have 3-30 hours to spare setting up and troubleshooting (depending on your experience).

Only took me sixteen years to beat it. Five year old me is finally at peace.

This was my introduction to realistic, adult-rated crime shooter games, and I couldn't have asked for a better one. A lot of people have thought that IV was a bad Grand Theft Auto, or that it wasn't even really a GTA. They're sort of right. Others, like Vice City or V were far superior as GTA games, but that's where the superiority ends, because I believe IV is the best game in the series if it stands alone.

It's not just about how many guns there are or the vehicles you can drive or the stunts you can pull on an open-world rampage, but rather the world that is built around you. It exists more as a setting than a sandbox, and that's the first part about what makes the experience so special. This coupled with the absolutely brilliant, gritty physics engine immerses you in the game and the story it tells. Niko's search for answers from his broken past as he gets pulled into the city's seedy underworld by anger and debts won't hook you, but pull you like a force of nature until you have been with him long enough to want to keep marching on with him. And when he makes it to the end of that river, when he at last finds his answers... he is given something that few games in this category offer: a real, substantial choice. A chance to let go of that anger.

And that's really only a part of what makes this game so beautiful. It's worth any price in reason and it's worth the fixes you'll have to do. I recommend getting the Хlіveless mod to rid yourself of GFWL. You can find the addon you'll need for the game's modern version on the later pages of the mod's GTAForums thread. Otherwise, there are some simple ini fixes, if I recall, and you'll need and a proper radio ''''''''''downgrader'''''''''' to get back the classic radio soundtrack. It's a pain, but as I said, worth it.

GTA ate up a lot of my otherwise desolate free time between 2009 and 2014. I found my first online social circle on GTA IV. They were mostly a bunch of reprobates, but they were alright until they weren't. I don't play much anymore because I have better ways to pass my time, but maybe you don't. So if not, pick this game up. It's pretty fun. And on the plus side, the PC community is probably better.

I remember getting an Xbox copy of this and really enjoying it. I'll remember for much longer getting my PC copy of this because I'm in love with it.

Get this game. If you can't stand moderately clunky handling and old graphics, get the ♥♥♥♥ over it and get this game.

This isn't hyperbole. You have no excuse. Is it too much? Fine. Wait until it isn't, then get this game.

There's a couple of funky ass glitches here and there, but nothing to break the game, and you'll have to mess with the PhysX, but other than that, I have no complaints.

It's a fun and fairly challenging game, and it's nothing new. Once you're on the ground, it becomes any other WWII game.

So I say sure. Get it, have fun with it. Put in a few hours until you get bored of it, then go do something else.
