Game in Early Access at time of purchase.

I paid ten quid for this game, and have gotten 55 hours at time of writing.
After Gearbox mugged me off for £60 by removing a setting from BL3 8 MONTHS after the games release, rendering it unplayable to me, I was recommended this game from someone on the GBX forum.

I have several EA games from Humble monthly, but have never knowingly purchased one. Considering the price (£10) when I got it, and after watching a few gameplay videos, I decided to give it a try.

A Wise decision.

Pros:
3 Characters (so far) - With skill trees / Special abilities
3 Levels (so far) - Broken into several (4-5ish) mini-maps.
Several 'Vaults' within each Level.
Main Bosses - Sub Bosses - Unique Bosses
Many different enemies.
Shedload of weapons with unique abilities.
Another shedload of Scrolls.
Great gameplay (if maybe a little basic), with lots of variety.
Each run is different.
Graphics fine.
Sound fine.
Controls fine(ish)
Re-playability - Through the roof.
Dev's constantly updating (and while not all updates / buffs / nerfs etc will please everyone, that's the EA purpose.

Cons.

Key mapping needs a serious look at, especially for left handers.
Some additional sound sliders required for certain sounds.
A couple of bugs (only two in 55 hours), that I have noticed.

That's about is for the cons.

As a newcomer to this game type, I was initially a little frustrated at the beginning of playing this. I was not aware of the mechanics of a 'Rogue-lite' game. And progress initially seemed slow an arduous. Thankfully, the issue was BNIF (Big Nut In Front) ie, me!
And the main advice give on various forums, really is the only sound advice... Keep Playing. Build Your Souls. Level the character.
Do not expect to steamroller the first level immediately. Accept that failure is inevitable.

So that's my review. For an Early Access game. This thing is top-notch. The devs are active and responsive. The game runs smooth, gun-play is great.

It is very More-ish!

Updated to July 2022.

Plenty of additions. New Maps, Characters, weapons and scrolls. More everything.

Truly a labour of love for the developers.

Pick this up.

ETA --

I also bought the DLC without even looking at it. And have not played it yet. The dedication this Dev has shown from the beginning, with Fixes, Content Updates, has elicited a trust I rarely give out.

Look at my playtime compared to BL3. Of course they are not really comparable.
But I know I got more fun from Gunfire Reborn.
