what has been a great fast paced game during the beta has been ruined by the randomised augment selection during the match
adding the goal barriers you have to break before opening the goal up also slows the game down an insane amount making it feel very sluggish

shame the devs decided to go this way, could have been a great game

The game is so ♥♥♥♥ now. Now there are no good and bad items, there are only bad items. This wouldn't be that bad if the game was otherwise the same, but now there are new floors and enemies. Boss rush and Hush are pretty much unreachable, since you have to have both insane item combos (which are pretty much unobtainable now) and very good time. Hard mode is now much harder with the addition of new enemies and increased enemy tear firing speed.

This DLC turns the game from an awesome rougelike with interesting item combinations into a pitty attempt at 2D Dark Souls with insane amounts of bloat instead of items.

TL;DR at the bottom

Ok, so I'd like to think I have enough hours in this game to give an unbiased review. Tbh, there is A LOT wrong with this game and I'm going to list just some of the problems here. So to start of:

The Jutsu: With every single DLC the game gets a lot easier for the whales and a lot more frustrating for the "free to play" players. (Which is an absurd concept in a 50€ game.) It is impossible for all the jutsu to be balanced, some are just bound to be stronger or cheesier than others, but this is on a whole new different level. The most non-dlc jutsu are just straight up useless if you don't combine them with some of the dlc jutsu, forcing players who don't purchase the dlc to be undeniably weaker than people who do. Sure, you can play the dlc characters for "free" (without buying the dlc), but you can't use their jutsu with your own character, which is a major downside.

The loot boxes scrolls: The game contains loot boxes, which provide you with costumes and ninja tools. The costumes in this game provide you with a small passive bonus like lowered cooldowns and higher damage. These bonuses differ depending on the costume worn and you can change your favorite costume to have the bonus you want from it with the in-game currency which is pretty nice. The rarest costumes have an unique passive which is only available on that, and only on that outfit. Some of these passives may be a bit better than the less rare ones but it's not that bad. The ninja tools are an essential part of your loadout and some of the best ones are only available from the scrolls, making them pretty hard to get. The drops from these scrolls change every two weeks so most of the players won't be able to earn all of the stuff they want from that drop list, having them wait for the whole rotation so they can have a chance to get the items they want. The most reliable way to get these rare items is play a lot. And I mean A LOT. You don't even have to win. More on that in the next section.

The game modes and matchmaking: To get this over with, there is no single player. There are only some quick missions with you fighting some weak bots just so you can unlock more VR masters. There are also no ranked matches, everything is casual. The metric in this game is your winrate which not visible to other players unless they really go looking for it. There are "ranks", but they increase with every match play and only decrease when you leave matches. You can be the biggest of bonobos and you can still reach the S1 rank just with some time. Quite a bit of time to be honest. These ranks, just like the drop lists from the scrolls, reset every two weeks. And that's exactly how you earn the rarest scrolls, which have the highest drop rate of the rare "SS" items. Literally just sink all of your time in to this game to get them. Looping back to there only being casual; it's probably a good thing since both the matchmaking and servers are so ♥♥♥♥. In your first match you can get matched against a 4 man premade with collective 3k hours on their accounts. The servers are not really THAT bad but sometimes it may seem like the game is being hosted on a single HDD from Uganda, which is pretty bad considering this is such a fast paced game.

So, just to sum up: To get the full experience you not only have to purchase the game with a lot of grind but also buy 3 separate season passes, which at the time of writing this review and using isthereanydeal comes to a bit over 45€, and it does not get better during any sales. (The historical best of the game and the 3 season passes is 30€). They are also adding a 4th season pass so expect this price to be even higher :) This is also for a strictly casual game. There are a few minor things I could point out like the bad UI or the atrocious village lobby but they are not worth writing out a full paragraph about. Those are my honest thoughts, comments are allowed so come disprove anything I said if you don't agree with it.

TL;DR: Unless you really love the Naruto franchise and/or you are swimming in money, don't buy this game at full price, and really think about buying it on sale because IMO it's barely worth it.
