Sitting alone as the sky darkens and a cool summer breeze passes by.

I look up the warm hues of sunset slowly disappearing, consumed by an inky black night sky.

As the last rays from the sun disappear I put my knees to my chest to keep warm.

It’s when im huddled up that a new light comes.

The darkness fades as you streak across the sky.

If only you weren’t so distant. We know that it’s only a childish wish though.

Our trajectories never to meet again.

You’ll continue to go on as if we never crossed paths.

And as you leave the darkness intensifies into a biting cold nothingness.

It reminds me that I am truly alone, only kept company by the cold nights and the dull glow of my cigarette.

It’s better like this anyways.
