This game has so much potential, but ultimately fails hard. It's like a Michael Bay movie, say, Transformers 3. Awesome Explosions & action everywhere, yet little substance.

Excellently engineered dopamine release triggers built in, but once you realize it's mostly the same stuff built into Casinos, as opposed to genuinely being a good game, it is ruined.

Early Access Review
This game is great, but not for everyone. On the realism scale it's somewhere inbetween Battlefield on the low end, and Arma on the high end. In other words, it's definitely something to check out if you're looking for something more realistic & with good teamwork, yet not quite walking simulator 2.0 like Arma.

Unlike other notorious titles in Early Access, the Devs at Offworld Industries are hard at work. They seek & listen to feedback within the community & seemingly show it in their updates.

Don't pay too much attention to all the people recently giving negative reviews due to V12 release. This is a massive addition & tweak to nearly the entire game. Sure, things are a bit out of balance; sure, there are some unpleasant bugs, but notice since V12 was release, almost every day when you open steam, you'll see a patch for Squad.

99% of bad reviews are because of sketchy ♥♥♥♥ they did with GTA Online. Game easily worth 60 bucks simply for the single player.

EDIT: I had given this game a bad review due to a change in direction from the company that was very exploitative & greedy. It has always been a truly great game & things seem to have worked themselves out.

There was a small amount of progress during mod phase and shortly after it's release as standalone, after that, it's just all been downhill. Literally every time I come back to play this game, its in worse condition than the previous.

10/10 so far, strongly recommend.

Content: Out of all the early access games I've played or followed, this one is by far the most polished at release. This is practically what I imagined the finished product of DayZ would be, back when it was mod & early part of standalone (minus zombies).

Performance: On highest settings at 1080P, I easily get 100+ FPS. This is with GTX 1070, I7-6700k@4.5GhZ, and 16gb of RAM. Most of the bad reviews I've seen are from people with specs of similar quality, but seemingly have unexplained performance issues. These are by far the minority of players.

This game brings me back to my days playing Rome 1 total war. Having to spend a deal of time thinking & planning each turn on construction throughout my empire. IMO is something that Rome 2 lacked. On the battlefield there isn't too much that has changed, but I definitely see the vanilla AI getting slightly less retarded with each new total war game ;)

The only 'con' I can think of for this game is the state of the factions & cities 'post-attila' if you let his armies spread too far, before eliminating them. Essentially there ends up being huge portions of the map that are wasteland, leaving all of the factions fragmented because they never bother to settle a raized city (seriously maybe once every 200 turns).

Wish there were console commands like in the older games. Really helps as far as replayability is concerned.

I'm that guy that absolutely loved and played the hell out of Modern Warfare 1 and 2, was the biggest hater of Black Ops 1, modern warfare 3... and then quit CoD and swore never to buy another one. Too many times the devs released the same exact game... this one definitely brings a new playstyle to the table. The jet boosted jumping and wall running is the biggest new feature(s) I appreciate. Just has a new feel overall while still having the things I loved about the older CoD games. Definitely recommend this title
