very challenging, requires thought and good reflexes. At the end after the second puzzle, I went up the elevator tube and never got the endgame UI to give a thumbs up. Bugreport?

Alright, without a walkthrough video available I think I was able to check the intended solution via the comments ;-)
1st maneuver/area #1 (ninja shot) : it worked for me on the first try, not my favourite kind of move but I accept it, though I expected a different way of connecting the rooms.
2nd maneuver(s)/area #2: finally finding a way to create the null portal was a great aha-moment! Then being able to use more of the stuff around that area including both floor portals for a cube juggle felt very satisfying too. Once these obstacles were taken, the rest of the puzzles were easy to find. Thumbs up!
P.S. The elevator might be a bit misleading as it is never used to get up (which is of course impossible since you can't sacrifice the cube from down below), so a different kind of blocking element might be better imo.

This is a very cool card.

Mostly same experience as everyone else. Thought first part was cool but due to poor controls had to play a little with host_timescale for one move. Second part had some clever cube and portal preservation moves. I'm usually not a fan of the old aperture styles but I think this one was constructed very well.

Originally noclipped past the first puzzle in frustration when I looked in the comments and saw a ninja move was required. I don't see such things when I'm solving--grew up with with a much different style of video game from all the younger guys here. I was disappointed, but wanted to see the second half...which ended up being really cool. As crhoaviet6 said I really liked the
fizzler portal reset thing - would never have guessed if I hadn't gone through the series that had that as a major theme 6 months ago or so. Don't know how long it would have taken me to set up the cube juggle had I not seen mention in the comments when I was looking for help with the first half. Done it before, but sure comments helped. . The second part made me go back and find the move in the first half. Lots of F6/F7 but finally got it. Second half made me want to get first half--glad I ended up doing it all.

Beautiful Hammer work as always.

I had no issues with the first puzzle. The shot is quite doable, especially if you're not going too fast. The second puzzle was my favorite, especially the first move. At first, the ceiling fizzler just seems to be an obstacle - but you can actually use it to your advantage! Brilliant.

Yeah it's a crap map. :(
StabGami May 23, 2020 @ 5:43am
I'm a better-than-average player, but I can't solve this one. The one walkthrough video below shows the player just miracle-leaping to the platform where the1st part's exit door is. Don't know how that's possible. So I'm out.

The test chamber is good in appearance and hard. But I don't like her very much. :winter2019surprisedsnowman:

Not a huge fan of the first puzzle, but the second is beautiful :D

Design is pretty good! I haven't seen a lot of maps with clever using of orange gel, so that makes this map is one of the best puzzles. Great job!

Cool puzzles!

The first bit required a bit of dexterity to pull off, but it was pretty doable. The second bit was really creative and absolutely beautiful; that really makes this map special (aside from the astounding visuals of course)

I love the second puzzle

Excellent puzzle. The first part was good, but difficult (for me) to pull off. The second part was pure logic. Thumb up for first part; two thumbs up for second.

@wildgoosespeeder Thanks! I'm not too fond of the reflex thing in the first puzzle either; I generally prefer logically-founded puzzles. This didn't have as much heavy thought put into it, so that move ended up getting left in. Also, I usually use my own computer (which is not very good) as a baseline for performance and adjust design to fit that. So I can't really take into account worse computers.
wildgoosespeeder May 31, 2017 @ 8:31pm
Solid map.

My only gripe with is one is the reflex puzzle you task people to guess for the first half. Not everyone uses WASD and has excellent graphics hardware. This makes that reflex part very frustrating. I have both issues. To protect my laptop from damage from being leaned on (HDD failure otherwise), I use an Xbox 360 controller. This map isn't very considerate of such a setup. The only way for me to complete this map is to use host_timescale in console to make the game run 1/4 its normal speed.

Amazing puzzles, great looking map. Thanks for creating!
DeathWish808 Mar 4, 2017 @ 8:23am
Ha, the 2nd area was much easier than I thought after playing the first area. If only I had known, I'd have finished it in the first video. :-P
Great map!

Maybe it's just me playing this after work and having a few beers, but I can't see this as being called medium difficulty. It could be that I have a hard time with this style visualizing things. I'm easily distracted.

Regardless, I'm adding this to my faves before I even finish it because the first part was damn clever and very well built. I hope I can finish it tomorrow, so it will only be 2 parts, but I won't be mad if I can't. :-D

Good gel map well done!

Awesome map! Gameplay was well-balanced. I didn't think I was up for another test but the pacing was really well done.

good map, unsolved at this point

great puzzle! I did the same thing as Edgy to finish.

Thanks for really good puzzles AND visuals. Judging by previous comments, it seems
I solved everything as intended. :) Thumbs up and favorited!
Stract  [author] Jan 11, 2017 @ 4:12pm
@(Edgy) Asriel Dreemurr That's what you're supposed to do for the final step - oscillating the cube between those two portals. The null portal is just for getting it over there the first time.
(Edgy) Asriel Dreemurr Jan 11, 2017 @ 3:27pm
@RedSilencer
What I ended up doing was placing the orange on the final ramp as the last step, instead of doing it at the same time as covering the other path used to fling into the lift bit. I had the cube hover between the platform by the cube dropper and the orange gel platform. So that when I portaled the cube through the fizzler I would still keep one portal for the gel, so I could use the cube to activate it and coat the last ramp bit in one final move.

So I basically just ended up making the test harder for myself by skipping a step, but came up with a new solution to make up for it. :P
Stract  [author] Jan 11, 2017 @ 2:53pm
@(Edgy) Asriel Dreemurr I know what you mean with the half portal surface in the 2nd puzzle. Was an oversight by me, I might change it. Thanks though!
RedSilencer  [author] Jan 11, 2017 @ 2:47pm
@(Edgy) Asriel Dreemurr

You're not supposed to be able to see the floor surface from the button that deactivates the fizzler. The intended maneuver is to use what is called a "null" portal, whereby the cube sits on a portal that isn't connected to the other portal. If you were able to get the cube into the room without the use of a null portal, you've done something unintended... As for your second point, I don't understand what portal surface you're referring to; what portal surface you want to be taller.
(Edgy) Asriel Dreemurr Jan 11, 2017 @ 2:36pm
Really, really good logical test.

My only nitpicks are:

It would be nice if you could actually see the cube portal hover while standing on the fizzler button in the second section, and make the portal surface you use to get up to the second part be tall enough to portal onto for the full length instead of half of it, as I was hitting the short part and it made me think it wasn't where I was meant to go.

this was lots of fun,i recognized red silencers map as soon as i started playing. nice remake. 2nd part took a bit of thinking. thumbs way up!

very nice chamber :Sugarsw:
RedSilencer  [author] Jan 9, 2017 @ 10:53am
@quaternary Yup, that's the move. It's easiest to do if you avoid coming out of the portal at a fast speed.
quat Jan 9, 2017 @ 10:33am
Nice hammer but it's really laggy on my PC, not sure if there's much you can do though.

The puzzles are great, it plays like a BEN 77 map. I'm not sure if I was supposed to ninja shot the angled panel as part of the solution to the first one, though

Really great level (first puzzle had me thinking for a while), but I think there may be a cheat in the second puzzle, as i could shoot portals across the lift shaft and didnt have to use the lift at all.
