One of those levels where it drives you crazy because it looks so simple, yet so hard. XD
Mikeastro  [author] Feb 3 @ 3:30am
@vague Glad you are enjoying this series! As for cube tossing, it is always illegal so there should be little confusion about that :cozycrashfish:
vague Jan 28 @ 9:32am
loving this series so far, tho i seem to keep finding unintended solutions, i used a cube toss to get the cube up to the platform which i now realise was definitely not what i supposed to do, the actual solution is much more elegant

very good job at utilizing a very cool concept. I like this level too.
H*nt*i! Ahegao May 25, 2024 @ 4:25am
I'm not sure if i got the solution right. After placing portal on the exit wall while light bridge supports cube above lift button, i started placing portal so it would create portal close enough to jump poison pit, but at the same time i would have time to jump on the lift. It took me some time to do, but it works. I would suggest to remove some white walls near the entrance, so there would be only 1 way to set poison pit platform, If it's not the solution. And the moment with creating pit platform is really cool

One of the highlights in this collection. Love the two different ways the piston is used. Very good!
SkyGlass Feb 17, 2024 @ 10:22am
The first part was my favorite and took a bit of thought. It's a very cool logic puzzle, and thanks for the fun!
_L Feb 6, 2024 @ 11:19am
couldn't get through. Looked up the solution on the internet. Honestly, I couldn't have figured it out, nothing super natural, but I wouldn't have figured it out. It's a very strong level. What 3/10, what will happen then at 9/10? I'm scared
Mikeastro  [author] Jan 22, 2024 @ 4:46pm
@zeo1337 Thanks a lot for all your kind comments! You are making very quick progress on the collection and I'm very happy to see that you continue to enjoy it :D
zeo1337 Jan 22, 2024 @ 4:39pm
Not gimmicky at all. This test does exactly what it's supposed to do, and feels great.
Prototypical May 25, 2023 @ 3:24pm
Verrrry sneaky. Even after I managed to fling the cube through the top portal thinking I cheesed it I still couldn't figure out how to solve the puzzle.
Had to respawn the block and find the actual (presumed) solution, between the tiny slice of portal surface on the wall and having to jump with the light bridge as a platform is surprisingly devious.
dscflyboy1 Aug 12, 2022 @ 12:55pm
This puzzle sort of made me think "Well, I guess you can do that." This definitely feels like the most gimmicky level so far. Like, yeah, you can do that, but I would never reasonably think it's the right thing to do because it's so "picky" (for lack of a better word) to get right.
Andy T Jul 25, 2022 @ 2:22am
Solved, just as I deduced, remaining 20% is tricky but not hard.
waghihgaghhhhn Jun 4, 2022 @ 7:50pm
nice map
SpielSatzFail May 15, 2022 @ 2:46pm
I once played a map with similar portal management, also with placing a bridge correctly by rearranging portals. I fell for the trick again XD
Thumbs up :-)
StackSmasher789 Apr 26, 2022 @ 3:22am
This was surprisingly easy. Glad I got the intended way too. Earlier I was trying to break the map with cube throw
Mikeastro  [author] Feb 5, 2022 @ 10:34am
@3per7 Okay that's impressive
3per7 Feb 5, 2022 @ 9:50am
i dont know what i did but the cube started levitating

OMG! Why so hard ))
Mikeastro  [author] Feb 21, 2021 @ 2:47pm
@Talisac Thank you very much! I quite like this one too :] I hope that you will like the last few as much as these!
Talisac Feb 21, 2021 @ 2:43pm
This one is an other great one from your serie, I enjoyed it a lot! My favourite so far, with #7.
Mikeastro  [author] Jan 19, 2021 @ 3:17am
@Gabriel Bacon Thanks a lot for the video! It was quite interesting to watch. Your solution was completely intended, and I'm happy to hear that you liked this one :D
Gabriel Bacon Jan 13, 2021 @ 10:06pm
Nice one! Love the minimalist style of this project. They're all so easy, yet they all manage to leave me dumbfounded for a while. Here's my blind run
Mikeastro  [author] Nov 14, 2020 @ 2:41pm
@Lorne Malvo It happens to the best of us from time to time :] Excellent work completing it
Silenius Nov 14, 2020 @ 2:33pm
I overthought this map a lot, you said it was peak of performance and at the same time 3/10. So i thought: it was a mindgame. I have also aphantasia and i can't imagine almost anything! I didn't realize that bridge would reach in the middle of water, perhaps because angle i was looking from. And part of a water was hidden from my sight. I was able to solve this only, because i went to this site and noticed: that you removed one white tile in the middle. So reason, why would you wanna do that, occurred to me. So i realized, this could be used to create a bridge and have still enough time to get back into the elevator! So than i knew bridge had to be used to cross water... My logic was correct, but i didn't considered one thing, because i didn't see it. Or it could be because i am not in a good mood... Tho i had problem to solve one other map, because i forget about 2 white tiles somewhere and than i didn't have all information.
Silenius Nov 14, 2020 @ 1:12pm
Hmm, i will try later. So weird. This map is so small! I didn't notice anything new after like 5 minutes :D
Mikeastro  [author] Nov 14, 2020 @ 12:54pm
@Lorne Malvo I can assure you that the solution is purely logical and does not require any gimmicky moves. It might require a change in perspective, however... After spending 2 hours on it, the solution will almost certainly be underwhelming so I would understand if you'd rather just look at the solution at this point :p
Silenius Nov 14, 2020 @ 12:40pm
3/10 you can't be serious :D I was already trying to solve this at least 2 hours and i don't see anything. This has to come to some mega gimmick right? Is this even worth trying to solve? I wasn't even stuck on Symmetry that long! Which was solvable just by using a logic. There are no moves to be made - perplexing! I would think: i know Portal 2 gimmicks by now! Maybe there is some hidden mechanic - i don't know about. But i play only hardest maps, so i would suppose: i saw it all by now...
Mikeastro  [author] Oct 21, 2020 @ 6:58am
@Jinx136 Thanks a lot for the high praise! I'm very happy to hear that you liked it so much. I fully agree with you - often by good use of geometry, the number of elements and connections can be vastly reduced, while keeping everything that makes the puzzle interesting :D
Jinx136 Oct 21, 2020 @ 6:30am
Okay wow, I can't believe I forgot to comment on this puzzle. This was one of the best I've seen.

(I'm going to spoiler my whole comment because it may give tips on how to solve the puzzle.)
Among Portal 2 maps, the most common way to get to the solution is to see a tricky move, or a combination of elements etc. etc. to get to the exit in a specific way.

However, this puzzle is unique because it requires you to analyze your surroundings to see the required move. In other words, the level geometry is the puzzle itself. I have seen such puzzles before, but the details in question were sometimes too small that it didn't feel fair to be asked to see it by the author.

This one, however, did this in an elegant way.

I added this puzzle to my Favorites, thanks for making it.

@Muzozavr Thanks a lot for the kind words once again :] Excellent work solving two more entries in the series. I'm happy to hear that you continue to enjoy it!
Muzozavr Oct 19, 2020 @ 4:39am
I did try dropping the cube on the button from high up just to see if it's possible, but didn't succeed. I feel like it'd work in Portal 1's engine, I remember those cubes being a lot less bounce-happy...

I still don't really agree with the mechanic actually used in the intended solution (which is propping the cube OFF the button it's already sitting on with a light bridge ), but that's just me. It feels less like a mechanic that exists for in-universe reasons and more like a mechanic that has to exist in order to prevent bugs.

Your USE of it, however, is utterly fantastic, and there's even a little visual cue for positioning... the way you get the cube, the way you make the portal, all very satisfying and then the end... very nice trick with the goo pit, very nice.
Mikeastro  [author] Aug 23, 2020 @ 10:57am
@KØ414 B33R Thanks a lot for playing once again! Indeed, the last step is not obvious at all. I'm happy to hear you liked it regardless :D
KØ414 B33R Aug 23, 2020 @ 10:31am
Alright, that was a pretty awesome map. I have to confess that I couldn't get that final step and finally caved and watched the run through. Even after walking away and returning a few days later. I have no excuses. Just think I tried to overthink it. Not particularly hard, but very clever. Elegant even. Nicely done!
Mikeastro  [author] Aug 13, 2020 @ 8:21am
@P75Formula Jr I think I know which detail you are referring to. It's quite sneaky indeed, don't worry about it. Thanks for playing again :]
A05Polzar Aug 13, 2020 @ 8:16am
Well, I had to look at the solution video. I just did not notice that one little detail that made it possible.
Mikeastro  [author] Jul 26, 2020 @ 2:19am
@Captain Unhook Thank you very much :D Glad you liked it
Captain Unhook Jul 26, 2020 @ 2:12am
Very good map! Nice visuals and very creative moves! Thanks for creating.
Mikeastro  [author] Jul 9, 2020 @ 12:32pm
@Occam I believe I made them a tiny bit less high, but they should still be in the same place. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it! Excellent work solving it :]
OC< Jul 9, 2020 @ 11:26am
May I ask whether you altered something? because I found the portal walls smaller than someone's in his video below, and it took me more than 10 times to pass through the goo. Anyway that's really an elaborate and enlightening puzzle. How fulfilling I was after so many failures. Thanks :steamhappy:
Mikeastro  [author] Apr 30, 2020 @ 11:35pm
@Cortexcyan Thanks for playing! It's indeed a little tricky
@tapmage Thank you :] Glad you liked it
tapmage Apr 30, 2020 @ 7:26pm
Huh. Figured it out. 20 min maybe. Not bad. Fun. This music seemed better than the last one I played.
Cortexcyan Apr 18, 2020 @ 4:37am
Real neat puzzle! Had to cheat by looking at walkthrough though. Loved the music too!
Mikeastro  [author] Apr 17, 2020 @ 5:22am
@mr. Out Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it in the end
mr. Out Apr 17, 2020 @ 5:10am
I thought that this puzzle will be toxic playing with cube positions on the buton. It was a long time than I found your simple solving. well done and thank you for the creating.
wildgoosespeeder Apr 13, 2020 @ 1:36pm
That one portal wall nearest the exit and entrance has three uses (portaling over to the other side, holding a cube up off the button, and setting up a goo gap crossing). I have only seen people cross goo pits perpendicular to the redirected light bridge and edge of a platform, never parallel. Once I figured that out, the solution came. Very well made!
Mikeastro  [author] Mar 29, 2020 @ 7:55am
@jp Thank you very much once more :D
