Nice first map in Hammer. The design is ok but you have to review your fizzlers. The two fizzler models of the vertical fizzler are not aligned and not well clipped in the walls. The fizzler itself is not wide enough and the flizzer on the ground is too thick.

Nice map! Logical, confusing puzzle! Thanks!

The map was fun but I must confess I didn't find out what half the elements were supposed to do. But, I made it to the end, so hurray for both of us!

Congrats on your first map. There are some issues that hopefully you can learn from for your next one: 1) Texture problems. 2) When you fall into the goo, you don't die, you're just stuck there until you reset. 3) The blue gel isn't necessary. If you're supposed to use it to bounce the turrets, you can save time and effort fiddling with the orange funnel and just portal behind them instead.

Well done for a first map. I enjoyed it.

Not bad for a first attempt at a Hammer map...

TIPS:
Keep everything aligned. Every unit and detail is important.
If you're going after a particular theme, I suggest checking out Valve's maps. After you've got your basic test, the rest is basically artwork.
Learn about the different lights: what they do, and how you can control them.
Use a soundscape (env_soundscape) to add a pleasant background noise (so that we don't suspiciously hear nothing when we're standing still).
Finally (if you're daring enough), get technical! That's what separates great Hammer maps from the run-of-the-mill PTI maps (including maps made with mods).

Excellent job for a first map!
I'm sure some veterans will tell you there are some minor detail issues, but I'm sure you'll get better in practice, and it looks great to me! The puzzle was a bit easy, but very clever! Nice job! I look forward to seeing more of your maps!

Nice Map for a first hammer map a little bit easy though. A good idea will to look at HMW's overgrown maps if you wanna see how to do it damn near perfect.(or vanilla Portal 2 maps) It was a little easy, but hamer is hard to get used to so i guess its good to start basic. Thumbs up.

I hit the like button, because I want you to make more maps and because it is good for a first time but this was not a really good map ( sorry... ). You were not really paying attention at your map, for exemple:
The first button wasn't in the floor, a bit floating in the air...
The ceiling texture wasn't a good texture for this.
The first model you put next to the button was bugging.
There was nodraw texture ( I guess ) inside the map!
The funnel needs to be more in the wall.
And don't use the same texture for walls and floors.

But the sky was good.

I hope it will help you to improve your next maps, because I really want to see more of your test chambers! :D:

I did a run of 15 blind playthroughs and this was one of them. The list in the description should be the order in which they are in the video to find yours easier.

Very good! Though a verpy simple puzzle. The buttons in front of the turret took me a bit to figure out, and the random blue gel dripping in kinda threw me off as it wasnt needed, but overall I liked it especially for a first map :)

While it is a good first map, I don't think that the overgrown/dilapidated theme looks good except when used properly. This map looks quite ugly, and the puzzle is very simple. If you want to make a dilapidated map, look at the sp_a1 Valve maps and make your map look similar. As for improving your puzzles, take a look at maps created by Mevious, Gig and Azorae.

Don't be discouraged by the above comment that says this looks bad, my first map was much worse.

This seems more like a demo to test the functionality of the funnel and other gameplay mechanics than an actual test. The buttons near the turret section are unclear what to do. Use antlines.

Try my map?

What was the point of the buttons in the turret rooom? I didn't seem to notice any change so I went ahead and solved the puzzle anyway.

Wow that was good, I didn't mind the flaws in it, it made me feel smarter... good job!
Gemarakup Aug 17, 2013 @ 11:35pm
Nice try for a first map. The puzzle was a bit simple and it had quite a few unintended soloutions and there were a lot of mapping flaws but that is normal for a first map. I'd recommend reading tutorials on the VDC on how to do things properly because it seems like you didn't really pay attention to how everything looks and I'd recommend TopHATTwaffle's tutorials.

This map is actually a very good first hammer test. 7/8 Cubes prefer Hammer Maps.

Hey man, just tried your map. The last pcube holder is not needed, the player can simply jump over the deadly goo. Other thatn that, enjoyable chamber [ ]

Feel free to play my map Se7en Sins and tell me what you think of it

See ya [ ]
