Version 3.5.3

Bugfixes and Adjustments
  • Adjust dodo wild nest logic for fewer eggs to spawn.
  • Fixed S+ compost bins not working (hopefully).
  • Fixed Toad's saddle slot not displaying properly. This may result in pre-3.5.3 version toads not displaying their inventory correctly. The easiest fix is to spawn in a cryopod (cheat GFI cryo 1 0 0), freeze the toad in question, then bring them back out.
  • Fix Morellatops passive feeding animation.
  • Increase the odds of turtle and turtle nests spawning on the beaches.

Update: Aug 2, 2020 @ 8:46am

Version 3.5.2

Bugfixes and Adjustments
  • Increased the odds of a Rex nest spawning, particularly in the Grassland biome.
  • Female survivors now increase their weight allowance by 10, instead of 20
  • Fertilizer, fiber, and organic polymer given the DA_ prefix (e.g. DA_PrimalItemResource_Fibers). This should help with any servers using custom stacking configurations.
  • Adjusted pachyrhino AI behavior so that they do not attempt to arbitrarily attack trikes.
  • Basilosaurus now drops 5 to 20 oil in inventory when killed.

Update: Aug 1, 2020 @ 10:36am

Version 3.5.1

Bugfixes and Adjustments
  • Fixed baby raptors not being tameable when hatched.
  • Adult mammoths can no longer be passively tamed, only the babies!
  • Charcoal should stack once again in campfires, torches, etc.
  • Large-sized scorpions should no longer float.
  • Dodo and raptor fertilized eggs returned to vanilla hatch speeds.
  • Fixed fertilizer weight.
  • Explosive arrow damage doubled.
  • Poison arrow effect increased.
  • Glass arrow damage increased. Bleed visual effect better positioned.
  • Tranq arrow now drops a proper static mesh.

Update: Jul 31, 2020 @ 5:41pm

Hotfix
  • Fixed an issue where newly hatched raptors couldn't be tamed.

Update: Jul 31, 2020 @ 12:36pm

Version 3.5

Implemented More Nests and Curious Babies
  • Ankylosaurus - Mud Nest with Curious Babies
  • Argentavis - Mountain Nest
  • Baryonyx - Wood Mud Nest
  • Mammoth - Curious Baby
  • Stegosaurus - Mud Nest
  • Thylacoleo - Curious Baby
  • Tyrannosaurus Rex - Bone Nest

Implant Saddle Support
  • Ankylosaurus
  • Argentavis
  • Baryonyx
  • Mammoth
  • Stegosaurus
  • Thylacoleo
  • T-Rex

Increased Arrow Diversity
  • Explosive-Tip Arrow: Requires gunpowder and oil to be crafted; explodes on contact in small radius.
  • Glass Arrow: Requires obsidian to be crafted; causes damage and bleed effect over time.
  • Poison Arrow: Requires spoiled meat and venom; slowly drains health from target.
  • Stone Arrow (remapped): Requires feathers, wood, and flint to be crafted.
  • Tranq Arrow (remapped): Requires narcotics; reduces target speed, helpful in out-maneuvering foes.

Introduced New Survival Items
  • Concentrated Hemoglobin: A consumable substance made with a bloodpack, azulberries, and stimulant, which increases oxygen in the blood temporarily. Useful for extended underwater dives, particularly early on or on primitive-only servers. Effect lasts for 30 seconds and has a cooldown of 90 seconds, preventing it from being spammed to stay underwater without coming up for air.
  • Ember Nest: This craftable nest of fibrous plant materials is "fueled" by embers, which greatly assists in the incubation and hatching of fertilized eggs. Engram learned at Level 6. Structure slowly decays when activated with sparkpowder.
  • Maggot Bandage: Early survival item that slowly increases health over time; uses spoiled meat, charcoal, and hide. When "consumed" it will slowly regenerate 10 health over 60 seconds. Engram learned at Level 4.

Player Pawn Changes
  • Removed hidden buff that cut starting Health, Stamina, Oxygen, Food, Water, and Weight in half. Crafting Speed and Melee Damage are still at 10% and 50% respectively.
    • While these reduced starting stats are a hallmark piece of the mod, it is reportedly discouraging a number of players from the get-go. Furthermore, it is also a setting that can be controlled via server settings anyway (with the exception of Crafting Speed and Melee Damage, which is why they are kept at reduced starting amounts). Having the mod force these starting stats reduces the ability of server managers to customize their Ark experience, which isn't a design goal of The Hunted.
    • Base Health, Stamina, Oxygen, Food, Water, and Weight can now all be adjusted again using the PlayerBaseStatMultipliers server setting adjustment.
    • For my personal server, I apply the following codes to keep that early feeling of vulnerability. If you want to keep pre-3.5 levels, place this code in your Game.ini file:

      PlayerBaseStatMultipliers[0]=0.5
      PlayerBaseStatMultipliers[1]=0.5
      PlayerBaseStatMultipliers[3]=0.5
      PlayerBaseStatMultipliers[4]=0.5
      PlayerBaseStatMultipliers[5]=0.5
      PlayerBaseStatMultipliers[7]=0.5

Dino Baby Changes
  • Baby dinos (herbivores and carnivores) no longer lose health when starving. Instead, they gain torpor and will eventually pass out. This will prevent you from imprinting on them.
    • While not entirely realistic, it was implemented to combat some reports of baby herbivores receiving food drain in stasis, but not eating due to a vanilla bug, which could lead to widespread starvation and deaths of babies. Save the babies!
    • A future update will either reverse this if the main food drain stasis bug is addressed or, if not, an alternative penalty buff will be implemented for starving your most precious companions. For now, consider this something of a "hot fix" so that players are not handicapped in raising their babies until a more elegant solution can be found.

Feature Expansions and Adjustments
  • Fertilized Eggs now have a much higher, narrower band of incubation ranges.
    • This will cut down on wild eggs hatching in the wild if their host nest despawns, which will reduce the appearance of claimable, wild babies roaming the Ark.
    • It will require a greater degree of effort to incubate, such as multiple fires in ideal conditions. Alternatively, the Ember Nest can be used to facilitate incubation.
  • Jungle Spawner tweaked to increase the likelihood that herbivores are more common than carnivores. This should reduce the jungle feeling like a Jurassic-style Roman colosseum.
  • Beach Spawner tweaked to decrease the likelihood of Scorched Earth creatures, increase turtles (where are the turtles?!), and reintroduce Parasaurs. Beaches simply don't feel right without our iconic parasaur buddies!
  • Revamped Tamed Dino Leveling (thank you to MoonBunnie for the suggestion!)
    • Max Tamed Levels increased from 150 to 225
    • Smoother, gentler tamed dino XP amounts
    • Early levels (1-30) should feel easy to attain, while mid levels (40-100) should feel frequent enough to not feel grindy.
    • After Level 100, the curve gets steeper, but is still generous compared to vanilla. After Level 150, the curve gets exponentially steeper, making acquiring a Level 150+ mount a much more difficult prospect.
  • Punching trees no longer reduces health. This should greatly help the opening minutes of the game, where acquiring your first piece of wood for tools is not a death sentence.
  • Turtles now drop shell fragments in their death inventory, instead of it being harvested by hitting them.
  • Trilobites now have a chance of dropping raw salt.
  • Organic Polymer is now dropped by Mantis and Kairuku. Temporary feature until more refined approach is designed and implemented.
  • All arrows, bloodpacks, organic polymer, shell fragments, fiber, fertilizer, and charcoal have dropped static meshes.
  • Feathers have an updated icon and can now be used in place of cactus sap for creating clay.
  • (Experimental Feature) Raptor Nests are better guarded and a warning will now be given to players who venture too close to nesting grounds...

Bugfixes
  • Fixed an issue where the wrong kind of raptor was spawning in-place of the deinonycus on non-Valguero maps.
    • Unfortunately, this introduced a bug where you may have found what looked like a Hunted version of a raptor nest in the wild. If you hatched an egg from it, you would have gotten what looked like a raptor, but was actually a sinister impostor. Unfortunately, the only fix was to remove these bugged fake-raptors from the mod. This may result in some tamed "raptors" (that were actually evil doppelgangers) being unable to further breed or, the in the worst case scenario, disappearing. If you are a server admin, please accept my apologies for this spooky bug and please be kind to any players who may have lost any beloved companions.
  • Chalico saddle no longer has a higher quality than other saddles in its tier.
  • Ptero nests have simplified collison, making it easier to collect their eggs. Watch out for mom!
  • Dung beetles now spawn in as level 1 and can be tamed passively.
  • Fixed floating eggs on Morellatops nests.
  • Achatina can be tamed again via vanilla method.
  • Fixed an issue where you could craft a base saddle without knowing the engram first.

Update: Jul 14, 2020 @ 2:14pm

Version 3.4.3

Bugfixes
  • Fixed a rare bug where certain herbivores were not eating properly.
  • Dimorph babies can now hold at least 1 pound worth of meat when hatched. Save the dimorph babies!
  • Fixed a bug with the tuso that resulted in a crash for some players when it was killed.

Update: Jul 12, 2020 @ 2:21pm

Version 3.4.2

Ecosystem Rebalancing

Grasslands
  • Grasslands are often where you will find the largest, terrestrial animals, with the herbivores clumping together in large, protective herds. But with larger prey comes larger predators.
  • Herbivore nesting grounds are most commonly found within grasslands, closely guarded by territorial parents.
  • Grasslands have a relatively equal distribution of dinosaurs, birds, and mammal species.
  • The most common apex predator here is Tyrannosaurus Rex, although the abundance of prey means large carnivores like allosaurus and carnotaurus and pack hunters like sabertooths and terror birds are also regular sights.
  • The Alpha Carno and Rex rarely spawn outside of the grassland biome.

Feature Expansion
  • Sabertooths that spawn in jungles take on a unique, tiger (orange/black) coloring that isn't found on sabers that spawn in other locations. They are not a separate dino, thus can mate other non-jungle sabers. If this is a desired feature, it may be expanded to include other biomes and dinos.

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an extremely annoying issue with certain dinos no longer eating or eating, and gaining too little food.
  • Thorny Dragons no longer target one another, though they do not necessarily cooperate.

Update: Jul 11, 2020 @ 8:18am

Version 3.4.1

Bug Fixes
  • Parasaurs tamed prior to the 3.4 update should now properly reflect their previously gained XP and attribute increases.
  • All food options for dinos (meat, berries, veggies, and kibble) have all been readjusted to be more in line with vanilla values. Eventually, this system will get expanded into more nuanced systems.
  • Chalico saddle now properly displays in the Saddle Crafting Kit.

Update: Jul 10, 2020 @ 12:27pm

Version 3.4

Important Note
If you were playing a character in Version 3.3 and have updated to Version 3.4, you will initially restart the game at Level 1 with vanilla stats. In order to regain your correct stats and engrams, all you need to do is respawn by fast-traveling via a bed or dying and coming back. This is a one time fix and you will not need to do it again going forward. I've been looking for ways to avoid this, but unfortunately, it was the only solution I could find to kill a pervasive bug once and for all. Apologies for any inconvenience it causes!

Implemented Tier IV Babies and Nests
  • Castoroides - Curious Babies (Passive Taming)
  • Chalico - Curious Babies (Passive Taming)
  • Dimetrodon - Mud Reeds Nest
  • Dimorphodon - Fallen Tree Nest
  • Kentrosaurus - Curious Babies (Passive Taming) & Mud Nest
  • Manta - Curious Babies (Passive Taming)
  • Microraptor - Curious Babies (Passive Taming) & Fallen Tree Nest
  • Sabertooth - Curious Babies (Passive Taming)

Saddle Support for Dinos
  • Castoroides
  • Chalico
  • Manta
  • Sabertooth

Dietary Buffs for Advanced Food Items
  • Provide different advantages and small bonuses based on the advanced food item (veggies or prime meat) consumed for humans and dinos. These advanced food items now benefit task-specific activities, giving small boons to those who strategically pick their food based on their activities. Descriptions have been added to items as reminders. This should encourage diverse diets, but does not penalize a player for not wanting to invest time or thought in varying their food. There are no deficiencies or debuffs associated with this system.
  • Each advanced food item now comes with a cooldown before it can be eaten again.
    • Citronal- 30 water / 10 food / 5 stamina
      • Granted Buff: Well Hydrated (+Reduced Water Consumption for 30 seconds)
      • Ideal for hot temperatures when water is scarce.
    • Longrass- 20 food / 20 water / 15 stamina
      • Granted Buff: Mineral Enriched (+Increases XP gain by 5% for 30 seconds)
      • Ideal for use when recovering from injuries that do not need immediate attention when high-quality meat is not readily available.
    • Prime Meats- Varies based on type (raw provides half food and negative health except fish)
      • Prime Meat - 60 food / 15 stamina / x 2 Health Regeneration Rate
      • Prime Fish Meat - 30 food / 30 stamina / x 3 Health Regeneration Rate / can be eaten raw without any negative health impacts and while swimming
      • Lamb Chops - 60 food / 30 stamina / x 2 Health Regeneration Rate
      • Granted Buff: Protein Enriched (+Increases Health Regeneration Rate for 30 seconds)
      • Ideal for use when recovering from injuries that do not need immediate attention.
    • Rockarrot- 10 food / 30 stamina
      • Granted Buff: Vitamin Enriched (+Double Stamina Regeneration for 30 seconds)
      • Ideal for use during stamina intense activities, such as mining and harvesting.
      • Can be eaten while swimming.
    • Savoroot- 50 food
      • Granted Buff: Fiber Enriched (+Reduced food drain and slow digestion over 30 seconds)
      • Ideal for use when you want to carry less, but have a significant source of food on hand that does not spoil as quickly as other veggies. Also valuable for herbivores, particularly babies, for food storage overnight.

Ecosystem Rebalancing
Beach Dino Spawns reworked.
  • Beaches are intended to be desolate with few resources and the weakest threats.
  • The apex predator is spinosaurus, but is relatively rare.
  • Large animals are rare, with smaller, hardier species more common.
  • The amount of spawns on the beach has been reduced to make it feel emptier.
  • Beaches should feel like a relatively safe harbor for starting players, but the lack of animals and the limited choice in available mounts should quickly push for migrations inland.

Jungle Dino Spawns reworked.
  • Rainforests are the most biodiverse habitats in the world and now properly reflect such in Ark (increased species diversity by 60%, making it the most diverse biome).
  • Many carnivores spawn in large packs, such as raptors, troodons, and compies.
  • Deinonychus now spawns in the jungle, though it will not yet spawn with a nest.
  • Bats and spiders now also spawn in the jungle. Insects, in general, more common! Joy!
  • Larger animals are less common (e.g. pachyrhino) while smaller, quicker predators that can be hidden by foliage are more common (e.g. troodons).
  • The jungles of Ark are now dominated primarily by dinosaurs and their bird-like relatives, with fewer mammals.
  • The apex predator is the allosaurus, though gangs of raptors and clans of deinonychus will violently attempt to occupy the role themselves.
  • The amount of spawns in the jungle has been increased to make it feel livelier.

Feature Expansions and Adjustments
  • Trike Features
    • Third attack option added (default key c) that can be used to harvest bushes for berries once again. It's main attack is identical, except it damages stone structures, can harvest thatch and wood, but not berries.
    • Wild trike babies can now be tamed passively, just don't get close enough for mommy to see you!
  • Parasaur sonar now more reliably detects fallen survivors closeby!
  • Wild archa babies are now tameable (passive feeding).
  • Wild onyc now supported (not tameable).
  • Wild araneo now supported (not tameable); they will vary in size, will drop venom, and silk.
  • Wild scorpions now vary in size.
  • Meat Stack Sizes Returned to Vanilla Sizes
    • Raw Meat (inc. fish) can now stack up to 50
    • Cooked Meat (inc. fish) can now stack up to 50
    • Cooked Prime Meat (inc. fish & mutton) can now stack up to 30
  • Tributes (e.g. Sarco Skin) now "spoil" after 12 hours into their vanilla trophy versions.
  • Reactivated Implants are now autocrafted in the saddle kit and no longer require an extra resource on top of the deactivated implant and the appropriate tiered DNA sample.
  • Redesigned parasaur nest (again) to try and get rid of landscape clipping that ruins immersion.
  • Sarcosuchus and kaprosuchus now mostly ignore one another and stay out of one another's way. This should prevent swamps turning into croc graveyards.

Bug Fixes
  • Tweaked argentavis targeting range. It should now prioritize corpses over hunting, and should not feel like it is "beelining" towards players or tamed dinos. Argents now have better targeting AI, only going after smaller herbivores, such as dodos (and an oblivious human or two).
  • Fixed bug with Ptero stats on strange stamina miscalculation.
  • Pelicans should no longer fly around aimlessly when asked to go fishing!
  • Equus (and any rider it has) are no longer invisible to lions, tigers, and bears, oh my!
  • Doed can now properly mine stone on its own again.
  • Fixed a rare bug where wild dinos would aggro on empty nests.
  • Hesperornis more carefully selects its targets and is particularly nervous around humans.
  • Hesperornis nest should now more reliably spawn on land.
  • Wild dinos should no longer target nests of rivals.
  • Megapiranhas should now target underwater corpses.
  • Fish (coel/salmon) will now reliably drop more fish meat.
  • Fixed a crash related to tamed dodo's inventory. Unfortunately, this may result in dodos tamed prior to version 3.4 having inventories that are no longer accessible. They can still eat from troughs and breed, with their offspring having the updated, not-so-glitched inventory.

Update: Jul 10, 2020 @ 7:17am

Had to revert to Version 3.3.3, as I prematurely deployed today's scheduled update! Apologies! I had intended to update the Test Branch version of the mod, not the main version. There is still one elusive bug I am trying to hunt down. Once squashed, I'll release it here on the main version.
