Update: Mar 21, 2021 @ 2:29pm

Version 4.2.8
  • Created a Beta-Branch
    • Create a third beta-branch of The Hunted.
    • Adding a third branch will create a relatively stable branch that community members can use if interested in helping me design features, refine systems (especially spawns and AI logic), and ensure that the Hunted is running smoothly on different maps.
    • The beta-branch will update roughly twice a month (as the main branch does right now). Then the main-branch will update roughly once a month.
    • This should help server admins decide which branch is best for their particular gaming community.

  • Tweaked Artificial Nests
    • All nests now have an increased incubation radius and better collisions to reduce the odds of a thrown egg from sliding or bouncing off.
    • Hot Ember Nest: Slight update on textures and 50% larger than before.
    • Clay Polymer Nest: Updated model. It is now powered by oil to maintain a lit, warming torch. However, it slowly decays and will need regular maintenance (approximately every 2.5 real-world hours). Can be stood on, but when active, gives the Uncomfortable buff, which slowly increases torpor and decreases water.
    • Living Nest: Increased size and doubled the incubation radius. Requires Rare Flowers and Rare Mushrooms to build. Angler Gel fuel burn increased to 600 seconds. It will slowly decay and will need regular maintenance (approximately every 2.5 real-world hours). Added a glowing blue particle effect when active.

  • Faster Spoil Timers for Tributes
    • DNA Tributes (e.g. Argentavis Talon) "spoil" quicker in newly tamed or born Jerboa, Monkeys, Microraptor, Otters, and Vultures' inventory, due to them "cleaning" the tributes for use in summoning bosses. This should reduce the spoiler timer to just about 10 minutes or less.
    • This is primarily being introduced for those players looking to speed up tribute decay for summoning bosses.

  • New Resources Added
    • Honeycomb Morel: These delicious and rare mushrooms can only be found by harvesting them from Living Nests over time. They can be eaten by survivors or tamed dinos for a temporary 25% XP boost, used as a substitute for honey in recipes, or be used to cook Exceptional/Extraordinary Kibble.

  • Adjustments, Tweaks, and Bug Fixes
    • Adjust carnivore corpse eating, alphas in particular. Corpses will be targeted, but if you start attacking them, they will turn their attention on you!
    • Fix wild otter harvest. Pre 4.3 Otter tames will likely be bugged. However, babies of the old otters will be the updated versions, along with any newly tamed otters from the wild. Vanilla pearl and black pearl functions restored.
    • Fix wild horse harvest
    • Fixed overspawns of Spinos in the lava lakes on The Center
    • Fixed overspawn of Eurytps in Viking Bay on Ragnarok
    • Giga Nest can be examined again
    • Trikes can no longer heal from hitting corpses
    • Wild baby tapejara no longer gain extra levels from taming effectiveness
    • Tapejara no longer makes swimming sounds while flying
    • Polar Bears no longer drop excess pelt, as intended
    • Beaver should become aggressive again when their dam is looted
    • Hesperornis Egg can now be used to make oil in cooking pot
    • Visible recipes restored to cooking pot
    • Dropped oil and gunpowder now has static meshes
    • Increased baby beaver spawns

Update: Feb 27, 2021 @ 6:57pm

Hotfix for some players experiencing a bug where the Clay Nest would disappear after several seconds on certain maps. Apologies for the double update!

Update: Feb 27, 2021 @ 2:29pm

Version 4.2.7

New INI Option to control Ferocious Parents Spawn Level
  • GuardianParentLevelMultiplier=1
  • By default, parents that are guarding nests can be up to 66% higher in level that your max level dinos. For example, if you have a difficulty of 5, your max wild dino will be capped at 150. With that same setting, you might find guardian parents up to 250.
  • If you want to have high level parents, but do not want to have them surpass the server level settings, then you can set GuardianParentLevelMultiplier=0.6 to achieve this.
  • Alternatively, you could set this multiplier even higher for an increased challenge.

Adjustments, Tweaks, and Bug Fixes
  • Boas no longer attack one another (wandering or nest mothers).
  • Female boa spit slowed by 80% (should feel equivalent to an Arthro) and has a greater arc.
  • Brontos and Trikes should no longer regain health when hitting a corpse.
  • Add a guardian mother to the Morellatops nest that actually fights for her babies!
  • Increased the spawn rates of dodos on the beaches! Where are all the dodos?!
  • Put a DA_ tag in front of the jelly file name.
  • Fixed an overspawn of spinos on The Center. I hate spinos.
  • Paracers now have two attacks. Their primary is the vanilla stomp attack which deals 45 damage. This damages stone and no longer collects berries. Their secondary attack is a head jab, which deal 35 damage, can only deal damage to wooden structures or lower, but collects wood and thatch.
  • Fixed troughs not being placeable.
  • Fixed tropeos flying underwater. That was fun!
  • Reworked dodo nests so that they would reliably show up in SP and on a Server.
  • Fix jelly biotoxin scaling with Crafting Skill.
  • Dunkleo now drop more meat and the amount scales with its health, like other dinos
  • Removed wild Tropeo babies from spawning for now. Eggs will still drop. Need to rethink how they are tamed passively, as the vanilla system is overriding any changes I make.
  • Tropeo spawns added to swamp. Nests will more reliably spawn there, rather than the beach.
  • Fixed some missing textures on Nests. Thanks to ForgeMaster for an excellent bug hunt!
  • Fix baby basilosaurus dropping blubber. No more free blubber!
  • Reworked Giga nest and added ferocious nest parents.

Update: Feb 21, 2021 @ 3:38pm

Recook of Version 4.2.6. Earlier cook from today did not work. Apologies for the second update today.

Update: Feb 21, 2021 @ 9:31am

Version 4.2.6

Apologies for the back-to-back updates. I know they can be a pain, particularly for large servers. But there were a couple of bugs that got introduced in the last update that needed to be fixed ASAP.
  • Alternate Wild Carnivore Healing System
    • Experimental healing system for wild carnivores implemented on Allos, Barys, Carnos, Deinos, Dilos, and Raptors. Rather than insta-healing when chomping on a corpse, should instead gradually heal the carnivore over a much smoother period of time, depending on the corpse size. Internal tests show it working as intended, but I want more time to test it and feedback from the community before rolling it out to all carnivores, particularly the big, scary ones!
    • Only affects wild carnivores. Tamed carnivores can still consume raw meat to heal.

  • Adjustments, Tweaks, and Bug Fixes
    • New nest logic expanded to all remaining dinos; updated several ugly and outdated nest meshes and designs. Gross.
    • Restored the pegomastax stealing tame route. Wild eggs can still be found in nests.
    • Corrected the coloration of Pachyrhino eggs.
    • Fixed the overspawn issue of Spinos on Ragnarok. Thank you to Tubdyt and Sprinkles for bringing this to my attention!
    • Tropeo saddle folder fixed. Should now be found in the Tier 5 folder, as was intended. Thank you Dusky for pointing this out!
    • Wild adult Chalicos can no longer be tamed using beer. Thanks to Kara for reporting!
    • Wild gigas (Hunted version only) will now deal more damage (base 120), as originally intended. Melee Damage penalty for wild and tamed versions removed entirely from the nerfed Hunted version. Thanks to Meraxes, Dusky, and Nerdigante for finding this one!
    • Took another swing at slight beaver overspawn on Ragnarok. Thanks to theredhatter for keeping me informed on this persistent bug! Please keep reporting any suspected overspawns.
    • When harvesting Biotoxin from Jellies, the radial menu will now properly describe the action. Thanks to GrooveDiggr for finding this!
    • Angler Gel harvests now scale with the health of the Angler and your Crafting Skill. The higher your Crafting Skill and the higher the level of the Angler, the more gel you'll harvest.
    • Attempted a fix at Direwolf movement being… weird. Keep letting me know if it continues!
    • Fixed mother Quetzal's crazy speed rush!
    • Removed dilo hunting grounds warning. Too low level, too common.

Update: Feb 20, 2021 @ 10:29am

Version 4.2.5

  • Nesting Behavior Improvements
    • Second Dedicated Parent: Dodo and Kairuku nests now have a second guardian partner (in addition to the nesting mother/father) that will defend their partner and nest, but not stray too far from the nest.

    • Territorial Parents: Almost all guardian parents who spawn around nests will now pursue you if you get too close for only a relatively short distance (with larger distances possible with larger animals), and eventually return to their nest if left undisturbed. They may even stop and offer some intimidating stares, warning you to not come any closer. If you damage any guardian parent, nest hatchlings, or the nesting parent, the nest guardians will pursue you beyond their nesting range.

    • Ferocious Nest Mothers: Many nests will now spawn with a nest mother, who will aggressively defend her nest from intruders and rarely leave the nest's immediate area. These mothers will always spawn in at levels about 50% above the server/setting maximum (e.g. difficulty 5 will result in mothers between 200 and 250), which will act like "mini" bosses. For some nests, only the nest mother will be present (e.g. Spinosaurus) while others will also spawn in with normal dinos of their type (e.g. Trikes). Be warned -- even those dinos we typically think of as "gentle" are not to be underestimated when it comes to mothers defending their eggs!

    • Nest Siblings: Some nests will now have tameable babies in them, in addition to an unhatched egg to steal. Several high tier dinos (argent, quetzal, spino, rex) that previously did not have babies on the map will now spawn with babies in the nest, but will also spawn with a both a ferocious father and mother.

  • Added Hunted features to more dinos
    • Euryp now supported with enhanced ai package and death harvesting using the radial menu. Additionally, they will not leave the water like they can in vanilla.

    • Cnidaria (Jellyfish) now supported. Has a much shorter aggro range, will wander in clusters, and now can only be harvested via the radial menu. They also come in varying sizes and colors.

  • Adjustments, Tweaks, and Bug Fixes
    • Increased the odds that wild baby dinos stick closer to their nests, along with their guardian parents
    • Fixed folder inconsistencies with a couple of dinos (Angler, Styraco), which should fix some custom spawn errors some server managers were experiencing
    • Wild dodo and kairuku nests now also can be configured using the BabyLevelMultiplier server setting
    • Fixed issue with kairuku nests over spawning eggs on some maps
    • Field Disruptor (the opening buff to help when first spawning in to avoid the large detection ranges of wild dinos) visual replaced; survivors are now clearly defined by a glowing ring of blue
    • Fallen Survivors can now be buried (and thus removed), with many dropping Hunted seeds (e.g. Cocodrupe)
    • Attempted a fix to reduce overspawning beavers and leeches, particularly on Ragnarok. Please continue to report any overspawns! Thanks to theredhatter and Dusky for bringing this to my attention.
    • Removed untameable megatherium babies. Only tameable ones exist now! Thanks to Kara for reporting.
    • Tropeo eggs now properly labeled as Gargantuan, as intended. Thanks to Dusky for catching this.
    • Tropeo saddles are now Tier 5 (Beta Implants), as intended. Thanks to mathrew for reporting!
    • Fixed wild Megalania team (should now be able to be hurt by wild dinos too).
    • Fixed a terrible bug where Rex was ignoring the Spino, even if getting attacked. Now the two will battle to the death (or run away like cowards)!
    • Basilosaurus mother and baby spawn reworked, increasing the odds tameable babies will be found.
    • Diplodocus no longer drops a sauropod vertebrae in their inventory. Thanks to Deinstbier for reporting!
    • Added tags to the Fallen Survivors for better spawn weight server controls.
    • Fixed the death harvesting on baby ankylos, bears, and parasaurs. No more free hide, pelt, or shell fragments!
    • Turtle can now be used to harvest meat, due to it being an omnivore.
    • Fixed yellow-engram bug for campfire, torch, cooking pot, feeding trough, and composting bin.

Update: Feb 17, 2021 @ 8:49am

Version 4.2.4

  • Implement INI Level Range Control for babies and nests
    • BabyLevelMultiplier=1.0
      • You must also set EnableBabyLevelLimit=0 for this option to work as intended.
      • By default, this is set to be 1. If you also set EnableBabyLevelLimit=0, wild eggs and babies will spawn in at levels set by your server's difficulty level for all dinos. This ini adds an extra layer of control over the level of your server's wild eggs and babies specifically.
      • For example, if your difficulty value is set to 5.0, the maximum level your wild dinos will spawn in at will be 150. If your BabyLevelMultiplier is then set to 0.5, your babies and nests will spawn in at ranges from Level 1 to 75 (150 x 0.5 = 75), with lower levels more likely than higher levels. If your BabyLevelMultiplier is instead set to 0.1, your babies and nests will spawn in at ranges between Level 1 to 15 (150 x 0.1 = 15).

  • Implement INI Option for Titanoboa Spit Venom Attack
    • WildTitanoboaFemaleChance=0.5
      • By default, only female Titanoboas have a spit attack (primarily implemented to help her guard her nests when found in the wild and not just become a sitting pinata for your arrows).
      • By default, 50% of all wild, wandering Titanoboa adults will be female (in addition to those that can be found guarding nests). This INI controls the proportion of wild, wandering adults that are female (and thus have the spit attack).
      • If you want to limit the spit attack to only those females guarding nests, set this INI option to 0. This effectively means the only wild females capable of the spit attack will be found guarding their nests, which will eliminate the odds of them spawning in other locations, such as caves.

  • Bug Fixes & Adjustments
    • Terror Bird corpses are no longer artificially stuffed with pillow-down and can no longer be harvested for extra feathers, only meat (prime and regular) and tendons as intended. Thank you Natjur for bravely reporting!
    • All wild alpha corpses (e.g. Alpha Rex, Alpha Mosa) stubbornly stick around now and have a 1 hour corpse decomposition timer, which should provide enough time to effectively harvest them, especially if working solo or in a small tribe. Thank you Deinstbier for reporting!
    • Genetically modified baby argents to be strong enough to hold meat as soon as they are hatched, rather than having to wait for several anxiety-inducing minutes before they grow strong enough to hold it in their inventory. Thank you Dusky for reminding me about this bug that so many reported, but I kept forgetting to include a fix for!
    • Purged the Ark of grumpy adolescent basilosaurus that were untameable and above the baby level limit set by server settings. Thank you Mathrew, Luvs, and GrooveDiggr for your reports that helped me finally nail this bug down and squash the hell out of it.
    • Fixed a really awkward graphical issue with the dodo nest that sometimes hid the mesh or attached the needle debris to the corpse of the dead mama dodo.
    • Fixed issue where hatched Thorny Dragons were too angry and could damage other tames and players. Thanks to Scratch Gryph for reporting!
    • Taught styraco babies how to obey their superiors and respect the baby level limits set by servers. Thanks to DarkViper for catching this adorably annoying bug.
    • Cured otters experiencing violent IBS when consuming their favorite raw fish! They should no longer lose health when eating their favored snacks. Thanks to Fyr for reporting this bug.
    • Overly ambitious kentros no longer drop extra ivory/keratin when poached. Thanks to Acid Raine for reporting this bug.
    • Desperately tried to convince baby pelicans to do as they are told and get out of hunt mode when told by their masters.
    • Reprogrammed the ghostly AI of the saddle kit maker to no longer autocraft on your behalf without your permission. You now must tell the saddle kit to activate implants once the ingredients are present.
    • All fish-eating piscivores have formed a club and now proudly display their dietary preferences in their character status menu, reminding their absent-minded masters that they prefer fish and will only eat that nasty red meat junk if forced to. If useful, other dietary clubs may be formed in the future.
    • Gargantuan, Colossal, Large, and Medium fertilized eggs now require even higher standards of incubation nests, no longer making it feasible to use just air conditioners to incubate them. Living Nests (for Colossal and Gargantuan) and Clay Nests (for Large and Medium) are now a must!
    • Hyaenodons now properly sit like true show dogs when asked!
    • Attempted obedience training classes with raptors so that they respect their tame groupings, and not listen to whistled commands intended for other dinos.

Update: Jan 25, 2021 @ 11:33am

Version 4.2.3

Bug Fixes and Tweaks
  • Fixed Hesperornis babies inventory (allows them to carry at least 1 lb of fish meat when born)
  • Fixed missing Stego Saddle and updated to align with TLC #3 Content. Wild stegos now have the updated appearance.
  • Fixed Mammoth Saddle and updated to align with TLC #3 Content. Wild mammoths now have the updated appearance and tameable babies are now notably more common, rather than mostly adolescents.
  • Fixed Styracosaurus spawns. Should now reliably spawn with nests in the Redwoods.
