Space Battleship Yamato 2199 V1

Description
This Yamato is based on the 2199 version of the ship. Started in November 2023 with 16 straight hours getting the basic hull form made, it's been one big skill test since then. While I plan to eventually make an entire class of Yamatos (Musashi, Shinano, etc), I'm first focusing on optimizing this lead ship to cut PCU in half for more useable future builds.

Mods used: SBY mods by Ribera, WeaponCore, Defense Shields, and VCZ Elevators. Internal layout differs from 2199 Yamato but maintains familiar rooms and features.

Version 2
The plan is to build another Yamato replica in Space Engineers 2 from scratch and update it as the vertical slices come out. I'll try to finish the ship once mod support is added and the SBY mods are recreated for the game. By that point, every other aspect of the ship should already be close to complete.

Information
I started on this ship back in November of 2023 and was working off and on for a year, coming back only when I got inspiration. These last few months I've hunkered down and tried to iron out what I could, but any features that weren't ready were removed from the ship temporarily. They'll be added back once they're refined and tested. You can expect at least one major update each month until the ship is finished.

Features
Commander's Loft: Features a command chair that can ride a piston between this room and the 1st Bridge.
1st Bridge: Main ship controls and Analyzer mockup.
Central Elevators: Two main elevators running from 1st Bridge to 3rd Bridge/Boarding area.
2nd Bridge: Combat Bridge with simplified layout.
Navigation Planning Room: Accessible via ladders, based on show layout.
Tower Observation Areas: Currently empty but structurally complete.
Gun Deck: Houses AA gun emplacements, Officer Briefing Room, Turret Rooms, and airlocks.
Crew Deck: Upper level containing Main Computer Room, crew quarters, galley, Aft Hangar access, Catapult Control, Conference Room, Cargo Bay, and Automatic Navigation Room.
Lower Crew Deck: Accessible via stairwells, includes Tech Analysis Room, Training Room, Wave Motion Gun Plunger Bolt Room, crew quarters, Broadcast Room, and observation bulges.
1st Hangar Deck: Contains Pilot facilities, Hangar Control Room, Main Hangar Access, and Reactor Control Room elevator.
Engineering Deck: Houses Main Reactor, Mess Hall, Bathing Areas, and power systems.
Medical Deck: Multi-floor Infirmary, CMO's room, Theater, and Security/Detention area.
2nd Hangar Deck: Features Port/Starboard Ventral Hangars, stowage hangar, and Main Hangar access.
3rd Bridge: Contains Third Bridge and Boarding Area.

Planned Updates
Performance Updates: Ongoing PCU optimization and expanded functionality for control interfaces.
Wing Systems: Deploying/retracting wings with opening panels, plus water mod buoyancy implementation.
Fighter Systems: Upgraded 5.0 carousel (32 fighter capacity), Fighter Transfer System, and compatible Cosmo Falcon/Seagull designs.
Catapult Systems: Ventral Catapult and Elevator integration with Transfer System.
Quality of Life: Improved terminal labeling and Analyzer autonomy updates.

SUBGRID WARNING
This ship doesn't just have a lot of subgrids, it's practically made out of them. The subgrids that never have to move are secured with magnetic plates. My suggestion for anyone hoping to use this Yamato for PvE and want better PC performance (or some minor Clang protection) is to at least consider removing some of them. Also, operate any subgrid on the ship with caution, as there's often no way to fix these things if they break, except for loading in a fresh blueprint or save.

Areas to consider removing/replacing subgrids include but are not limited to:
Anchors
Automatic Navigation Dome
Cargo Bay Doors, Guard Rails, and Crane Props
Search Light/AA Assemblies
Funnel Decorations
Funnel SAM Launchers
Depth Charge Launchers
Catapults
Fighter Hangar Carousels
Ventral Hangar Covers
Ventral Boarding Ramp Deployable Stairways
Clang Drive Dampener (This let's the ship turn without drifting like in the show)
Room set pieces (Theater seats, Conference Room, etc)

SPECS
Length: 440 Meters (176 Blocks)
Height: 140 Meters (56 Blocks)
Overall Width: 75 (30 Blocks)
Total PCU: 213,133
Total Blocks: 60,434

Scripts Used
Whip's scripts: Turret Based Radar, and Automatic Doors
Easy Automation V2 by Coren
Turret Based Radar WC Addon by Sigmund Froid, Optimized version by NULL*Sparkle
A heavily modified Leveller Script by p3st|cIdE
Clang Drive Manager by Major Jon

Known Issues
  • Conference Room Door refusing to shut
  • Boarding Ramp Staircase can jam on rare occasions
  • The Carousel isn't programmed (Will be fixed in the first minor update in about a week)
  • The Catapult isn't fully programmed (see above)
  • Relays Not Set Up (Intended for pilots to remote activate the catapults)
  • Be careful on planets; randomly hopping in and out of control seats can cause the ship to lose dampening and fall (I may add a script to maintain altitude)

Special Thanks to Federation Cosmic-Bolt for helping me test various aspects of the ship and ironing out several issues that would have slipped into the initial release otherwise.
Super special thanks to Ribera1945e for making the SBY mods; without those, I wouldn't have had the motivation to even attempt building my own Yamato.
And YOU, assuming you read all that.

It's okay, man. The ship is still a work in progress; if you check out the Planned Updates section, those are some of the things I'm working on, and in the next major update, some of them will be finished.

In general, this ship is very realistic, whether it is the hangar or other parts, I think it is great, but maybe it’s because I’m still a novice, I don’t understand the operation of some parts very well, such as the control of the wave-wave gun and the control of the catapult at the rear of the ship? If possible, I hope you can consider this in the next update to make it easier for people to operate. Thank you:steamhappy:

Alright, I just pushed an 'early' update. The main changes were programming the lights and adding a few toggles here and there to save on PCU, but I also removed the carousel platforms like I've been planning. The next update will add Yamato's actual platforms and they will also be fully programmed by then.

I tested the main hangar's gate after going over the programmable blocks and making sure there weren't any errors. It should be working now. The hangar control room is currently set to show on the hud, so just hop into it and try hitting num8 to open the gate and num9 to close it again.

Thank you very much, I appreciate it and excited about it also, I like the Yamato you made, it is very cool

I need to double check something and then I'll update the blueprint with a couple of quicker options for opening the main hangar hatch.

I'm sorry that I couldn't find the one you said. I only found a control station on the fifth floor, and it still can't control to open the main hangar

There's a cockpit for operating the ventral hatch and stairways. The toolbar commands should be there on page one.

@everyone
My original plan to update the ship in January fell through hard but I'll still be pushing a major update sometime in the near future. Right now I've got some RL stuff to deal with though. Once I do update the ship though, I'll see about putting some documentation on the 1st bridge for anyone who wants/needs it.
