Cold War Resistance Part 2

Description
This is War!

Continuing the story of David Armstrong and Viktor Troska after the events of soviet invasion on 21st August of 1986 on the land of Czechoslovakia near the Iron Curtain. Play the part 2, where you will ambush convoys, defend the border, infiltrate soviet camps as a spy, recon and lead an combined operations! Store and gather supplies, which can carry over to your next faction mission.

You don't have to necessarily play Part 1 to enjoy this campaign But a short summary is below, in the last mission in Part 1, David Armstrong got stuck on the east side of the Iron Curtain, meeting partisans leader Slawa and Viktor Troska. Joining Slawa RED tank platoon, David helped to liberate the city codenamed Modrava. This is just the beginning of the resistance!!!

"Cold War: Resistance" is a re-imagined version of the original ArmA 1 campaigns from Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and it's expansion called Operation Flashpoint: Resistance, situated on the map of Gabreta made by the team behind ČSLA: Iron Curtain DLC. If you don´t own the DLC, you can watch the game-play on my YouTube.

It is inspired by the 21st August of 1968, when tanks of the former SSSR invaded ČSSR. In this alternate reality, a resistance formed from people who where not willing to give up their freedom easily. The war even caught up Viktor Troska who wanted after his years of service, just peace. On the other side of the Iron Curtain is Corporal David Armstrong, a NATO soldier, who is patiently waiting to come home.

All credit to the team that made the the ČSLA: Iron Curtain DLC, Cold War Crisis III, CWR3: Resistance Part 1 and Part 2 and Red Hammer Campaigns modders. The map "Gabreta" is really superb and it inspired me to create this reimagined or remastered versions of the original campaigns. In stead of two campaigns, I find a way and a filled out a story, that cross-over these two memorable campaigns into one single experience.

If there are any issues you run up, do let me know here, on steam, in the comments. Also my advice, just try to restart the game, its ArmA after wall, but that's why we loved it.
I have been playing these games from the beginning and it was my child dream to just re-create the original campaigns from scratch. After 20 years, I decided to fulfill this dream.

I highly recommend to play with Ghost recon 3rd person Camera by X5XFiRE for immersion!

If any new subscribers are happy with the result, I would like to ask you for rating this mod. The rating is off, since 25 are positive, which is 86 %, but it gives the mod only 3 stars.

My apologies Marechal88. I was (and still am) learning the Arma3 programming codes, and when I started I didnt know how to add multiple languages. Now I know how to do it, but I dont have time to go over the whole campaign :(((

@psifena(Ghost) - Oh its no big deal! :)

All you need to do is to 'Normalize' the sound files and it is EASY! This will set all audio files to be the 'same volume level', so, what you I and 'heard', will no longer be an issue.

Use a program called 'MP3Gain', and select the files, select 'Normalize', BAM! DONE!

That quick and that EASY!

This program is free (no sign-up, no nothing - just install and use) and has been around probably for 10+ years.

Lots of 'help' on the internet if needed too.

I SUSPECT you will have to convert the ?OGG? files into a MP3 format first, normalize, then convert back into the ?OGG? format.

Good luck!

:)

@MachineGunKelly

Yup, as stated. The audio from my point was not consistent - it was a 4-5 month project, and I am still learning.

I usually tried to state as many information to the task its self, or diary, or map indicators - so the player has to think a little bit. Not just waypoint go here, do this. But again, Im one man, one opinion, so I dont know where I over done it, or when its too easy :)

Thanks for the rating. It means a lot! I hope you enjoyed the missions.

And thanks for the heads up that it is in the last mission aswell. I will add trigger so it will end, and update it right away.

Once i have time, I can go over the whole campaign and improve the "dimmed map screens".

@psifena(Ghost) - Thank you for your reply. :)

I have used the cheat when I came upon the 'dimmed map screen', however, at the last mission, this screen was at the end. So a 'cheat' literally will end the campaign as there is no more. So all I saw was: Dimmed map, use cheat, sitting back at Campaign selection screen. ;)

The audio:

I start at a cut scene where 'A' is talking to 'B' - level 9.
'B' replies to 'A' - level 2.

For the first few missions, I literally had to keep my hand on the volume control (at start) to adjust the volume as it was so bad.

Also, as stated, you need better 'directions' on what a player is to do. Use the map to display along using the chat window. At times, people will miss the text at the bottom. So things as using the diary function would help!

Missions (when I figured some of them out) were quite nice!

OVERALL, even with needing a little bit more polish, I give this a 'strong 7'/'weak 8'.

You have done good!

:)

Oh and the audio - well it depends. I used either sound from AI or sound overlay. And this is big difference in voice levels, since you have to be close to the AI. Since I didnt do the missions in order, some missions had used option 1 some have used option 2, which than can have feeling, that the sounds leveles are different, but they are not. Most of the audios I used, is from the original campaigns, so its BI work.

But a great feedback, and if I would have time for Part III - maybe I would use the louder versions :]
