So What is it?
"Immersaholic's Reshade Preset" is a reshade preset made by ya man, Immersaholic. I know, you never would've guessed right? Anyway, this is a preset I made specifically for my playthroughs I upload to YouTube for the Total War series. After I started to use this preset in my videos I received multiple comments on what the preset was and where to get it, so I thought I'd give a easier answer for those questions :) Specifically, in this case this reshade is designed for Rome 2 usage; however, you can still use it in other Total War games, you will just most likely have to make adjustments yourself to cater to different lighting types/styles.

Any time I play any kind of game I always try to alter the look and/or game play to my own immersive liking. Playing the Total War series is no different for me, so after many many hours of testing, editing and judging. I've come up with this preset which I am truly happy with.

How will it change my game?
This preset was designed to provide the ultimate immersive experience for Total War Rome 2. When you first boot up the preset you'll immediately notice stronger colors on your screen. This is not to over-saturate your game with unrealistically bright colors, instead it is supposed to bring the ancient world to life by not making the colors appear so washed out.

When you zoom into any battle, you will notice the textures appear to have increased depth due to adjustments in shading. While the textures themselves should look more crisp and realistic, you'll also notice objects becoming blurred out in the far distance. The more you zoom in, the higher the DoF will kick in. This allows the viewing experience to emphasize the badass textures in front of you while the ugly textures in the far off distance don't take away from the experience.

Additionally, this reshade preset is also meant to be practical while also being cinematic. The DoF is quite strong, but when its time to command units or build your empire on the campaign map, the DoF should have almost no interference in your actual game play. This depends highly on your camera angle of course, but a default camera angle should still allow the perfect blend of practicality and sexy visuals.

This isn't the "best" or most "next gen" preset, its designed to offer an immersive and smooth experience to help you enjoy the awesome visuals a game like Total War Rome 2 provides.

Requirements
Technically the only requirement is Reshade, but I will still list mods that are required to get the same look that I have in the pictures posted. This preset was made for use WITH the following mods, if you do not use these mods and don't like this preset then I can't help you.

Orbis Aquarum Realistic Water - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2420691432
Orbis Terrarum II - Open Beta - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1970932617

Enhanced Particles - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=358921596

(Not Required but highly recommended for game play)

Installation
Please Note: I have uploaded a installation video for your ease of use. It is linked above and completely guides you through installing the preset. However, here is a step by step list if you want to do it without the video.
  1. : Download and install Reshade: https://reshade.me/
(4.7 Version or newer is required as that is the version I created it on)

  2. : During the installation, select the following effect packages: "Standard Effects" "SweetFX By CeeJay" and "qUINT by Marty McFly". The preset requires all 3 of these! Allow Reshade to install all of the files associated with these packages as my preset will adjust these automatically for you.

  3. : Download my preset from: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xzKQ09vUfjyZrNyCH1kw_0VZSIXMPl3S/view?usp=sharing

  4. : Copy the preset configuration setting into your Rome 2 home folder (Wherever your R2 exe is located)

  5. : Start the game, skip the Reshade tutorial (if you want) and then select "Immersaholic's Reshade" at the top of the Reshade window drop menu.

  6. : I HIGHLY suggest you use the same graphic setup as myself, I have posted a screenshot of my graphic settings in the gallery of this workshop.

  7. : Adjust your brightness to fit your taste and Monitor hardware. This preset was created with Brightness at 11 and Gamma at 24. These are not required but highly recommended to get the desired affect.

  8. : Make sure the DoF is working for you by opening the reshade window in game, click on the DX11 tab (Far right hand side) and make sure "Copy depth buffer before clear operations" is checked ON. Then check on the line of text underneath that contains your gaming resolution (E.g. 1920 x 1080p)

FAQ
Q: Why does my screen get blurry?
A: That's called "Depth of Field", its a cinematic affect used in various forms of cinematography, photography, etc to allow the viewer to focus on specific visuals.

Q: What version of Reshade do I have to use?
A: Reshade 4.7 OR newer. Although I can't guarantee in the future Reshade won't receive a major update that changes things dramatically.

Q: Will this hurt my FPS?
A: No, you shouldn't notice any difference at all unless you are on an extremely low end PC. What will hurt your FPS though is changing graphic settings in the game itself. If you put your settings to be the same as mine then that is what will give you FPS issues IF your PC can't handle it.

Q: Why did you make it look like "Blah"?
A: I made this preset for my enjoyment first and foremost, if you don't care for a change I made then feel free to adjust the preset yourself.

Q: This crashes my game, your mod sucks!
A: NO it doesn't, the program of Reshade can sometimes crash your game if your playing a older game like Rome 2 OR if you screwed up installing it. Also make SURE your video drivers are up to date.

Q: How required are the requirements?
A: A bit, not a lot but definitely not not.

Q: Will you update/change this?
A: Probably not. I'll offer support if Reshade makes massive changes that makes this preset incompatible with the newer versions. However that's not really a big issue as you can just download older version of Reshade easily.
Also I won't change the preset just purely for looks. I'm completely happy with it; however, I will probably release more presets in the future if people are interested.

Q: How can I support you?
A: Just enjoy the mod, share it with your mates and if you are into YouTube check out my channel linked above!

Trying to get the reshade to work properly but for some reason my Depth of Field just won't work. I don't have a Dx11 tab as seen in the video in the gallery. What should I do?

@thaoska the "Copy depth buffer before clear operations" is in the "Add-ons" tab, and it is unchecked by the default, so it needs to be turned on. The current version is 6.3.3

This made my Rome 2 experience so much better, thank you for this!

@JosephAR that is the Lux Un Umbra preset, however my brightness/gamma may be lower or very different compare to how it looks. You also should use the same submods as the ones I was using in that video, ESPECIALLY the Orbis Terrarum submod as that adjusts the visuals dramatically. (All are linked in the video description)

What reshade is used in this video?

I know the link goes to Lux Un Umbra but whenever I tried it in-game it did not look the same, I did it with all the other mods linked too.

@droppinturds

I personally play with clouds disabled to save FPS/deal with lag so I didn't notice this myself. But a couple solutions for you:

- Make sure you have the same graphic settings as me (In particular the Shader setting)
- Sounds like its probably caused by the "levels" effect, try turning that off to see if it changes it.
- If the above don't work. You will have to go through each of the effects turned on by the Reshade to see which setting would affect it.

Anybody else notice or have a fix for the following:

Have noticed on the campaign map that the shadow from clouds affects the UI. For example if I have an army selected and the unit cards are over a spot that a cloud shadow is passing, the shadow superimposes over the unit cards. Not gamebreaking or anything, just annoying
