No one enjoys instant kill walls. Devs need to drop that death wall.

Update: The devs have slowed down the kill wall and have decided to hide the energy cost for using multiple of the same parts, Instead they placed a limit on how many of each part you can have on the field and added very large increased energy costs to spawn new mechs. You can avoid most of these costs by not letting your mechs die, because you can upgrade your current mechs with new gear based on the difference in level of gear. (Example: Level 1 gear cost 5 energy, level 2 gear costs 10 energy. A new mech using 2 level 2 weapons would cost 20 energy, but a mech being upgraded from an old Blueprint would only cost the energy difference in level, in this case 10 energy)

Edit: 3/5/22 With the dev saying things have changed, i am going to reinstall and update my review as needed.

Edit: 3/6/22 Ive played some more and beaten the current content as it stands again. The death wall is still there, but it appears to have been slowed down. I almost forgot it existed except on certain maps where the terrain was super cluttered with things i couldn't travel over.

TL:DR I am going to say, wait to buy until more updates have come out.

It is a small and cute game about a spider becoming a superhero for a loved one. Completely casual and good for an afternoon of fun and swinging around.

Mindustry meets factorio and have a child. Throw in a tiny amount of Path of Exile with semi random loot drops to mod your equipment/abilities and you have a seriously fun game.

The game is full of possibilities, but tedium and "wonky" mechanics make it dull and aggravating.

I appreciate the work the dev has put into the game, it has come a long way from when it first started. But, i cannot in good faith recommend this game at this time, almost 50 hours in.

TLDR: The game has been improved, but only buy it if you really want a somewhat clunky survival experience with a magical disease that persists through death unless you cure it.

Edit: 1/6/24
The dev just released an update improving Fiber distribution. This has made gathering fiber a bit faster. Although the dev increased the cost of crafting fiber into Cordage in an apparent attempt to counter the ease of gathering it in larger amounts now. I personally think the Crafting system still needs a complete rework but as things are now its not terrible. The game just needs allot of QoL updates and it could be amazing.

I bought this without looking up any game play videos and just watched their posted trailer, That was a mistake. I assumed it was going to be similar to Age of Empires and i was terribly wrong.

If you enjoy SUPER CASUAL point and click adventures or a game that plays itself then you will probably enjoy this game.

Do not buy this unless you search up game play videos online before your purchase. I normally do this but didn't this time and I regret it. This game is boring as hell because YOU DO ALMOST NOTHING, the game plays itself.

I'm going to have to say DO NOT BUY THIS, for now. There is no PVE content and the PVP is dead due to lack of players.

The game is dying because of lack of content and an extreme lack of players.
But I do have to admit the Grapple hook and glide suit game play is awesome and my most loved activity, it is allot of fun.

Edit: 7/23/21
On AUGUST 5th they are reverting the realms choice and reunifying the player base. I'll edit this review with new info after the update.

Edit: 8/15/21 They dropped realms and have higher peak players now than in the past 6 months, I have met, killed and been robbed by more people than i ever saw in Season 3. Now they just need to add some content to make it fun.

Edit: 8/24/21 The devs stated they are working on new content but have not released info about what that would be at this moment.

Edit: 10/26/21 2 months later and no new info still. Player base has dropped to around 100 at peak hours and 30 at off hours.

Bought it on a whim and have barely stopped playing it. It is a tough as nails tactical Turn based strategy that reminds me of a combination of darksouls and final fantasy tactics.

The game is simple to learn and hard to master from my current experience, you start weak and over manyruns become heroes.

Without some serious QoL changes regarding SoTD around Grid borders or AoTD being immune to damage from anything except Tamed creatures, The game is going to keep slowly dying. Development will most likely stop within the next year anyway, Most of their updates are taking away from what made Atlas fun, Ship customization is being thrown out for Pre-built ships that you can add a module to...They've just locked the Bread-N-Butter ship, The Schooner, behind a 5k gold entrance fee on top of you gathering all the resources to build it you have to pay 5k gold AT YOUR OWN SHIP YARD. Keep in mind this game has no offline damage protections and there's a good chance you will log on the next day with your ship having been sunk.

5k Gold may not sound like alot, but it actually is, and the next ship a Brig, costs 25k and the Galleon costs 50k. For the last 2 ships i can understand them being pricey, they are warships with lots of space and cannons and armor. But the schooner? It's a medium-small ship that can be specialized but is still fairly easily sunk.

I am only writing a review because they wont let me thumbs down the game without one. If the devs actually work and improve the QoL for players i might change it, but as things are now. DO NOT BUY. The NA server is full of large groups spamming foundations all over islands to "claim" them and putting up auto turrets all over the place because ammo is cheap to make and 10 gold will cover the costs of the NPCs for a week! Yes i am angry while writing this review because i really wanted to enjoy atlas. ive got thousands of hours in ARK but atlas...I cannot find any reasons to enjoy it because i am stuck in a sloop being blown up at the grid borders before i even get control of my ship from loading in while traveling.

I need to spend my money on Kenshi 2. LET ME GIVE YOU MY MONEY!

Seriously though, Kenshi is a great game and i am still enjoying it. It is well worth the price at $30 and I personally cannot wait for the chance to purchase Kenshi 2 which is currently in Development.

If you like post apocalyptic survival then this could hit the spot. The survival style here is not about managing food and water, even though i would love for that to be a thing. All you have to worry about is food, beyond that its the world attempting to kill you and crush your dreams and your attempts to survive that make this a gem. You can do almost anything.

Hunt slave owning nobles? Sure thing!
Challenge a Holy King to a duel? Sure thing!
Be a bounty hunter and hunt down criminals all around the world? Damn straight!
Want to farm? Got you covered.
Be a trader? Sure thing, We even have pets to haul our things for us!
Produce your own Alcohol and drugs then trade them to the holy citizens in secret? Of course, just be prepared to run.

And the modding community adds so much more.

After the disastrous launch, the devs shut up and went to work. It payed off the game is amazing at this point. It has some minor issues with ship physics and the occasional UI annoyance, but nothing to stop some one from enjoying the game. If you are a fan of semi casual exploration/building games then grab this when its at a price your comfortable with.
