Sony did the right thing and it only took more than a quarter million negative reviews.

Hello.
I just wanted to say, after hearing all the game's praise, and seeing a few streamers/content creators cover it, I finally gave Battle Brothers a try.
I was hesitant, because in spite of the praise, and everything pointing to this is exactly the kind of game for me, it wasn't exactly fun to watch, nor do summaries do justice to the depth of your choices before and during combat.
Having played it, I am now fully engrossed.
My biggest criticism is actually just overcoming my own defeatist/perfectionist mindset when starting a new company or encountering my first big set back, and I think my only real criticism so far entirely being overcoming my mindset sings high praise to the game (and makes it clear where it's biggest critics are coming from).
That said, there remains fun to be had seeing just how many days, battles, and slain enemies a company can go without losing a brother-- even if that story always ends in tragedy :p

If you can play a game like Xcom without rage quitting over bad combat dice rolls, I think this is an excellent example of how deep and fun a "simple" looking game can really be.

An excellent dungeon crawl whose focus is on exploration.
The game is definately on the slower end, while it took me 25 hours to complete it really should have been 16-20, as I meticulously hoarded resourses when really all you need to succeed is your starting sword and shield, a few bottles and one very important hood.
Totally worth the twenty bucks.

The most entertaining real-time core gameplay I've experienced in a long time, while also adding depth to management and army customisation while giving poor decisions lasting consequences.
Best of all, unlike several other great games I've aquired rather recently (such as Mordheim), it does not take an hour or three to finish a round or two. You can comfortably finish three games in 20 minutes, and your longest games will not extend far past 20 minutes.
Many times I find myself falling into the "just one more round" trap with this game. It's difficult for me to put it down once I start.
While fun and quite decently balenced, those looking for more intense competition would probaly be better off sticking to a game like Starcraft 2. But Starcraft 2 doesn't let you customize your army units or focus on tactics like this.
Closest thing to it that I've played to it in spirit would probably be the new XCOMs, maybe Dawn of War 2 if it had persistence between matches, butthe core gameplay is radically different than either of those. Give it a try. You get those first two hours free.

Pretty damn awesome. Very good and functional, even in early access, but it currently lacks good late game progression/end game content. I'd recommend getting it, but holding off for the final product.
